ROMAIN FEBVRE SECONDO ALL’APERTURA DELLA MXGP
Romain Febvre ha conquistato il secondo posto assoluto per il Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP nel round di apertura del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross MXGP a Villa La Angostura in Argentina.

Il francese è emerso quarto dopo un frenetico giro di apertura in gara uno e si è subito messo in movimento poiché l’eccezionale stabilità di manovrabilità e l’erogazione di potenza della KX450-SR gli hanno permesso di superare due rivali in giri consecutivi. Il leader della corsa aveva già cinque secondi di vantaggio, ma il pilota Kawasaki ha dimezzato il deficit di due terzi della distanza di gara; Il divario tra i leader è poi rimasto costante fino a quando Febvre ha abbassato l’acceleratore negli ultimi due giri.
Scegliendo il cancello interno per gara due, è stato appoggiato dal suo vicino al cancello fin dalla partenza, ma ha elegantemente mantenuto una linea tesa durante la prima curva per emergere quarto. Nel giro successivo è balzato all’esterno per raggiungere il terzo posto e ha messo gli occhi sui due leader. Ad un certo punto il trio era coperto da soli tre secondi ma il loro ritmo era tale che solo un errore del leader poteva portare ad un cambio di posizioni. Secondo assoluto sia nella classifica generale del GP che in quella del campionato del mondo, si dirige al secondo round a soli tre punti dalla tabella rossa.
Romain Febvre: “Sono felice di iniziare la stagione così, non avevo alcuna aspettativa specifica venendo qui. Ho provato a colmare il gap da Jorge a cinque giri dalla fine della seconda manche ma la pista stava diventando davvero dura a quel punto e sono quasi andato oltre il manubrio; molti ragazzi si sono fatti male questo fine settimana e l’esperienza mi ha detto “basta”. Non ho vinto una manche ma sono stato veloce entrambi i giorni; questa è la prima volta che sono stato sul podio qui e ho concluso il fine settimana a soli tre punti dalla tabella rossa. È importante rimanere costanti tutto l’anno e non commettere errori. Ho provato alcune cose nuove nelle ultime settimane e penso di aver trovato il modo migliore di lavorare; ora torniamo in Europa e continuerò a lavorare sulla mia condizione fisica per la Spagna.”
Jeremy Seewer, ottavo nel primo giro di gara uno, ha presto fatto breccia nella classifica per prendere il settimo posto due giri dopo e il sesto al quinto giro. Il nuovo arrivato nel team KRT ha poi rimontato il pilota in quinta posizione, esercitando un’enorme pressione per diversi giri prima che il detentore della tabella rossa emergesse dal nulla per scivolare dentro e si accontentasse di un solido settimo posto alla bandiera a scacchi. Il pilota svizzero ha rapidamente conquistato il quinto posto in gara due, ma ha dovuto affrontare una corsa solitaria, in vista del quarto ma non abbastanza vicino per lanciare una sfida. È stato un ottimo debutto in Green per aggiudicarsi il sesto posto assoluto.
Jeremy Seewer: “Questo fine settimana è stato migliore di qualsiasi altro sulla 450 da quando siamo venuti qui, quindi già questo è un inizio di stagione davvero positivo. Ieri ho iniziato abbastanza lentamente, ma la seconda manche oggi è stata buona. Sono uscito bene dal cancello ma sono rimasto schiacciato un po’ alla prima curva o avrei potuto anche prendere l’holeshot. Sono venuto qui cercando il mio ritmo, niente di pazzesco, e i primi tre erano spariti, ma ero lì in velocità per i primi quattro. Ho ancora molto da imparare sulla nuova moto, ma non ho commesso errori, non sono caduto, sono rimasto costante, quindi sono felice di tornare a casa con questo risultato e non vedo l’ora di affrontare le piste in Europa dove metteremo a punto la moto. c’è molto altro da mostrare con questa moto!”

ROMAIN FEBVRE SECOND AT THE MXGP OPENER
Romain Febvre claimed second overall for the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP at the opening round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Villa La Angostura in Argentina.

The Frenchman emerged fourth from a hectic opening lap in race one and was soon on the move as the outstanding handling stability and power delivery of the KX450-SR enabled him to cut under two rivals on consecutive laps. The race leader was already five seconds clear but the Kawasaki rider halved that deficit by two-thirds race-distance; the gap between the leaders then remained constant until Febvre – a twenty-two point championship haul secure – rolled back the throttle through the final couple of laps.
Choosing the inside gate for race two he was leaned on by his gate neighbour off the start but elegantly held a tight line through turn one to emerge fourth. On the next lap he surged around the outside for third and set his sights on the two leaders. At one stage the trio was covered by just three seconds but such was their pace that only a mistake by the front man could lead to a switch of placings. Second overall in both the GP overall and the world championship standings, he heads to round two just three points shy of the red plate.
Romain Febvre: “I’m happy to start the season like this; I didn’t have any specific expectation coming here. I tried to close the gap to Jorge five laps from the end of the second moto but the track was getting really rough by then and I nearly went over the bars; a lot of guys got hurt this weekend and experience told me “it’s enough”. I didn’t win a moto but I was fast both days; this is the first time I’ve been on the podium here and I have ended the weekend just three points from the red plate. It’s important to stay consistent all year and not make any mistakes. I’ve been trying a few new things the last few weeks and I think I have found the best way to work; now we fly back to Europe and I’ll continue to work on my physical condition for Spain.”
Jeremy Seewer, eighth on the opening lap of race one, was soon making inroads on the leaderboard to take over seventh two laps later and sixth on lap five. The newcomer to the KRT team then closed down the rider in fifth, exerting immense pressure for several laps before the red-plate holder emerged out of nowhere to slip inside and he settled for a solid seventh at the chequered flag. The Swiss rider quickly took over fifth in race two but faced a lonely ride, within sight of fourth but not quite close enough to mount a challenge. It was a solid debut in Green to clinch sixth overall.
Jeremy Seewer: “This weekend was better than any other on the 450 since we’ve been coming here so that alone is a really positive start to the season. I started quite slowly yesterday but the second moto today was good. I was good out of the gate but I got squeezed a little at the first turn or I might even have taken the holeshot. I came here looking for my rhythm, nothing crazy, and the first three were gone, but I was right there on speed for top four. I still have plenty to learn on the new bike but I made no mistakes, no crashes, just steady so I’m happy to go home with this result and look forward to the tracks in Europe where we set up the bike. We have a lot more to show with this bike!”
