Duemilaquattro segnarono il punto di svolta dei quattro tempi che prendevano VERAMENTE il sopravvento, con solo James Stewart Jr, Factory Suzuki e Factory KTM che avevano ancora due tempi in linea così come alcuni corsari selezionati. Ma a metà stagione era solo Stew a lottare nella top 10 delle manche sulla Kawasaki di piccolo calibro. Rivivi un altro Stew Classic, ritrovandosi ultimo dietro la prima curva e sfrecciando attraverso un campo di thumper nel percorso forse peggiore per i 125 a bassa coppia, Washougal.

Two thousand and four marked the turning point of the four strokes REALLY taking over, with only James Stewart Jr, Factory Suzuki, and Factory KTM having two-strokes still on the line as well as a few select privateers. But by the midpoint of the season it was only Stew fighting inside the top 10 of motos on the small bore Kawasaki.
