In una prestazione che ricorda il suo impressionante debutto in 450SX ad Anaheim 1, Jett Lawrence ha dominato il quinto round dell’AMA Supercross a Detroit, dove il pilota del Team Honda HRC ha condotto ogni giro dell’evento principale nella prima gara della serie 2024 fuori dalla California e in un ambiente chiuso. Il successo è seguito a tre eventi atipici, due influenzati dalle condizioni meteorologiche, l’altro con il formato Triple Crown, e ha portato il ventenne australiano al secondo posto nella corsa al titolo, a solo un punto dal leader.
La storia dell’evento principale della 450SX era semplice: Jett ha accelerato il suo CRF450RWE fino all’holeshot e ha controllato: un paio di chiamate ravvicinate sono gli unici piccoli difetti in una prestazione altrimenti perfetta. Il margine di vittoria finale di Jett è stato di 4.740 secondi. Nel frattempo, Hunter Lawrence ha avuto una gara regolare, percorrendo la maggior parte dei giri al settimo o ottavo posto prima di ottenere un risultato all’ottavo posto, uno dietro Dylan Ferrandis della Phoenix Racing Honda.
Detroit ha segnato l’inizio della serie 250SX East Region e il debutto in gara nel 2024 del pilota del Team Honda HRC Chance Hymas. Il nativo dell’Idaho ha subito un incidente durante le prove infrasettimanali prima della gara, riportando un infortunio al ginocchio che si era fatto male l’anno scorso. Si è comunque presentato per competere a Detroit e sembrava forte nella sua gara di qualifica, ma ha aggravato l’infortunio. Dopo il trattamento, Hymas ha portato la sua CRF250R all’holeshot dell’evento principale e si è piazzato in una seconda posizione, facendo segnare il giro più veloce della gara. Max Anstie di Fire Power Honda ha superato Hymas al 13esimo giro di 21, e Hymas è scivolato al quarto posto un paio di giri dopo. Sfortunatamente, una caduta nel finale lo ha portato al 10° posto al traguardo. Anstie ha ottenuto un impressionante secondo posto e Henry Miller di TiLube Honda è arrivato settimo.

So di aver commesso alcuni errori mentali e di aver preso alcune decisioni sciocche a causa del desiderio così forte di vincere. At Detroit SX, Jett Lawrence Becomes First Two-Time Winner of ’24

In a performance reminiscent of his impressive 450SX debut at Anaheim 1, Jett Lawrence dominated AMA Supercross round 5 in Detroit, where the Team Honda HRC rider led every lap of the main event in the 2024 series’ first race outside of California and in an enclosed stadium. The success followed three atypical events—two affected by weather, the other featuring a Triple Crown format—and it moved the 20-year-old Australian up to second place in the title chase–just one point behind the leader.
The story of the 450SX main event was simple: Jett throttled his CRF450RWE to the holeshot and checked out—a couple of close calls being the only small flaws in an otherwise perfect performance. Jett’s eventual winning margin was 4.740 seconds. Meanwhile, Hunter Lawrence had a steady race, riding most of the laps in seventh or eighth place before turning in an eighth-place result—one behind Phoenix Racing Honda’s Dylan Ferrandis.
Detroit marked the start of the 250SX East Region series, and the 2024 racing debut of Team Honda HRC rider Chance Hymas. The Idaho native suffered a midweek practice crash before the race, reinjuring the knee that he had hurt last year. He still showed up to compete in Detroit and looked strong in his heat race but aggravated the injury. Following treatment, Hymas took his CRF250R to the main-event holeshot and settled into an early second position, setting the fastest lap of the race. Fire Power Honda’s Max Anstie overtook Hymas on lap 13 of 21, and Hymas slipped to fourth a couple laps later. Unfortunately, a late crash dropped him to 10th at the finish. Anstie posted an impressive second-place result, and TiLube Honda’s Henry Miller was seventh.
