TEAM FRANCE ON TOP OF THE WORLD AT MONSTER ENERGY FIM MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS

ERNEE (Francia) 8 ottobre 2023 – Il Monster Energy FIM Motocross delle Nazioni 2023 è stato testimone di uno spettacolo sorprendente in quanto ha ospitato la più grande affluenza complessiva di sempre nel fine settimana, con centinaia di migliaia di fan convergenti sullo storico tracciato di Ernée. L’atmosfera era a dir poco elettrizzante, poiché i fan si sono riuniti per celebrare la loro comune passione per il motocross e farla conoscere ai piloti con ruggiti e applausi da far venire la pelle d’oca a tutti i presenti. L’intonazione collettiva di “La Marseillaise”, l’inno nazionale francese, da parte del pubblico entusiasta prima della prima gara. È stato un momento di unità e orgoglio che ha risuonato profondamente in tutti i presenti. Il sostegno incrollabile del pubblico a tutti i piloti, in particolare al Team France, ha creato un’esperienza indimenticabile che passerà senza dubbio alla storia del motocross.

Dopo cinque anni senza vincere il Trofeo Peter Chamberlain, il Team France composto da Romain Febvre, Tom Vialle e Maxime Renaux è salito sul gradino più alto del podio al Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations 2023 , in casa a Ernée.

Il giorno prima, il trio si era già comportato bene, conquistando il primo posto assoluto, con la vittoria di Tom Vialle nella MX2 e di Maxime Renaux nell’Open, mentre Romain Febvre aveva ottenuto il 5^° posto nella MXGP. Il Team Manager Gautier Paulin non potrebbe essere più felice per i suoi corridori, lui che ha vinto la competizione 2018 a Redbud, negli Stati Uniti, con Dylan Ferrandis e Jordi Tixier.

Insieme ai vincitori sul podio c’era il Team Australia con Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence e Dean Ferris , mentre a completare il podio c’era il Team Italia , composto da Alberto Forato, Andrea Adamo e Andrea Bonacorsi

Nell’euforia per il primo posto di ieri nelle RAM Qualifying Races, il Team France aveva bisogno di ottenere un ottimo risultato davanti al pubblico di casa. E si può fare affidamento su Romain Febvre per fare proprio questo. Il francese sapeva che ci si aspettava una buona prestazione, dopo che Tom Vialle e Maxime Renaux avevano conquistato i primi posti il giorno precedente. Ha accontentato i suoi tifosi partendo bene dietro a Jorge Prado , che ha preso il Fox Holeshot.

Lo spagnolo, abituato a partire forte, ha provato a scappare come aveva fatto durante la RAM Qualifying Race , ma questa volta l’eroe di casa, non si è lasciato scappare. Rimanendo dietro al suo rivale di tutta la stagione, è stato intorno al sesto giro che il numero 4 ha iniziato i suoi attacchi contro di lui. E dopo un tentativo fallito, ha preso temporaneamente il comando della corsa.

Dietro questa coppia inarrestabile, il Team svizzero Jeremy Seewer è rimasto in terza posizione fino all’ottavo giro, quando Ken Roczen del Team Germany lo ha attaccato in una curva e gli ha strappato di mano l’ultimo gradino del podio. Il tedesco, che ha commesso un errore pochi istanti dopo, ha perso questa posizione, ma in un nuovo duello con Seewer è riuscito finalmente a riprenderla.

Ma il posto dove stare era davanti e, in uno scatto d’orgoglio, Prado è riuscito a riconquistare il vantaggio su Febvre grazie ad una mossa forte. Lo spagnolo pensava di aver fatto il duro a tre giri dalla fine, ma ha sottovalutato il suo avversario, che ha deciso di ingaggiare una virile battaglia fianco a fianco. Il pubblico a questo punto della gara ha sicuramente fatto la sua parte, visto che il francese è riuscito a riportarsi davanti allo spagnolo. Febvre ha realizzato una nuova impresa per il Team France, tagliando il traguardo per primo, davanti a Jorge Prado, 2° e Ken Roczen, 3°.

Una delle rimonte più notevoli della giornata è quella di Jett Lawrence del Team Australia , che, nonostante una caduta anticipata che lo ha lasciato a fondo gruppo, ha messo in mostra la sua tenacia e abilità. Lawrence ha intrapreso una carica aggressiva attraverso il gruppo, prendendo linee audaci per fare una notevole rimonta e alla fine finire un impressionante 6° posto.

In Gara 2 – classi MX2 e Open – Valentin Guillod del Team Switzerland è uscito a fare il guastafeste, prendendo il comando alla prima curva, prendendo il FOX Holeshot ed evitando il tamponamento che ha lasciato dietro una dozzina di sfortunati piloti. Ma l’esperto svizzero ha avuto appena il tempo di assaporare la sua partenza, poiché alla seconda curva Ruben Fernandez del Team Spain gli ha tolto il sorriso portandosi davanti. Ciò ha destabilizzato Seewer e il compagno di squadra Arnaud Tonus , che sono finiti a terra pochi metri dopo.

Dietro, Maxime Renaux del Team France ha approfittato della disfatta del pilota svizzero per avvicinarsi a Fernandez. Il beniamino del pubblico francese si è mantenuto a distanza ravvicinata dallo spagnolo e ha aspettato fino al decimo giro per aggredire il rivale. Un primo tentativo è stato negato da Fernandez, che aveva visto il n. 6 provare a passare sull’esterno. Ma il tentativo successivo è stato quello vincente, dopo un salto lunghissimo, sul quale Fernandez non ha potuto fare nulla. Il pilota spagnolo è caduto pochi secondi dopo, mettendo a repentaglio le sue speranze di arrivare al primo posto in gara. Tom Vialle del Team France , che in quel momento era al terzo posto, non ha perso tempo e ha superato lo sfortunato n. 18.

Nel frattempo, la battaglia per l’ultimo gradino del podio infuriava già tra Liam Everts del Team Belgio e Andrea Adamo del Team Italia . Solitamente compagni di squadra, i due giovani corridori non si sono fatti alcun favore. Adamo ha messo molta pressione sul belga negli ultimi minuti di gara, ma il campione del mondo MX2 non è riuscito a prendere il sopravvento.

Renaux ha allentato leggermente l’acceleratore verso la fine della gara ma ha conquistato la vittoria davanti al suo connazionale Vialle. Everts ha ottenuto il 3° posto. Adamo e Hunter Lawrence del Team Australia hanno completato la Top 5.

L’ultimo round della giornata ha visto darsi battaglia le classi MXGP e Open. Ed è stato Roczen a tagliare la linea Fox Holeshot davanti a tutti gli altri. Renaux stava seguendo da vicino il tedesco ma è stato raggiunto da J.Lawrence dopo poche curve ed è finito terzo.

Appena fuori dal podio, Tim Gajser del Team Slovenia ha faticato ad avere la meglio su Fernandez ed è riuscito a sorpassarlo al terzo giro. Tuttavia, lo sloveno non è riuscito a mantenere il 4° posto e ha dovuto arrendersi sotto la pressione di Prado, che era più discreto durante questo round.

Un po’ più indietro, Alberto Forato del Team Italia, in ottima forma alla fine dell’anno, è entrato in battaglia con Febvre per l’8° posto. Ma il francese non è stato da meno in questo gioco e al terzo giro ha superato l’italiano su un tratto rettilineo. Meno di un minuto dopo, i due corridori si sono dati di nuovo battaglia e l’italiano ha riconquistato la sua posizione in discesa. Ma al settimo giro, il laborioso francese ha giocato un altro scherzo a Forato, prendendo una scorciatoia in aria.

Quasi contemporaneamente, anche J.Lawrence, 2°, ha preso il volo al 7° giro, il suo doppio salto ha lasciato Roczen alle prese con il terreno. L’australiano non ha aspettato gli avversari ed è andato dritto alla vittoria. Ha vinto davanti a Roczen 2°, Renaux 3°, Prado 4° e Gajser 5°.

Una volta conclusa la gara finale con i festeggiamenti sul podio, la squadra si è diretta al Media Center per la conferenza stampa ufficiale dove le prime tre nazioni, i vincitori delle classi individuali e il vincitore del Ricky Carmichael Award hanno risposto alle domande dei giornalisti e sono stati premiati con i loro premi.

Ken Roczen del Team Germany è stato il vincitore assoluto nella categoria MXGP, mentre nella classe MX2 è stato Tom Vialle del Team France. Maxime Renaux del Team France ha vinto la vittoria individuale nella categoria Open mentre è stato Lucas Coenen del Team Belgium ad essere premiato con il Ricky Carmichael Award per il pilota più giovane e con il miglior punteggio della classe.

Ai primi tre team sono state consegnate le loro medaglie FIM dal presidente della FIM Jorge Viegas , dal presidente della FFM Sebastien Poirier e dal direttore della FIM/CMS Antonio Alia Portela , seguite dalla presentazione degli anelli dei campioni alla squadra vincente da parte del CEO di Infront Moto Racing David Luongo.

Maxime Renaux: “ È un fine settimana fantastico. Sono arrivato primo e terzo in gara, quindi ho aiutato la squadra a vincere, ma ho anche due fantastici compagni di squadra come Romain (Febvre) e Tom (Vialle). Tom ha fatto un ottimo lavoro e anche Romain. Penso davvero che sia stata la squadra vincente oggi. Sono così felice che siamo riusciti a metterlo insieme perché non è mai facile, soprattutto perché il pubblico francese ci aspettava, sono davvero felice di averlo potuto portare a casa. E’ una sensazione fantastica, non ho mai visto così tanta gente attorno ad un tracciato, cantare insieme. È stato davvero emozionante”.

Jett Lawrence : “ Nella prima gara la partenza non è stata poi così male ma dopo essere caduto ed essere partito ultimo non era l’ideale ma mi sentivo bene in pista, mi sentivo in forma e per niente stanco e sono riuscito a finire forte. Nella seconda gara, sono riuscito a fare una buona partenza per arrivare 2° e ho potuto inseguire Kenny (Roczen) come in America. Poi ho abbassato la testa e ho preso la corrente per superarlo. È il miglior risultato mai realizzato finora e non vediamo l’ora che arrivi il prossimo anno “

Andrea Adamo: “ Per noi è stato un momento fantastico. Non mi sentivo al meglio nella prima gara, ma ci stavamo divertendo, e questo è la cosa più importante. Nella seconda gara sono riuscito a fare una partenza migliore e a fare alcuni sorpassi e stavo lottando con Liam (Everts) per la P.3, anche se ero davvero felice di finire quarto e secondo della MX2. Questo risultato significa molto per noi dato che siamo molto giovani e gli altri ragazzi hanno più esperienza di noi quindi per noi sembra quasi una vittoria!”

ERNEE (France) 8 October 2023 – The 2023 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations witnessed an astounding spectacle as it hosted the biggest overall weekend attendance ever, with a hundred of thousand fans converging upon the historic track of Ernée. The atmosphere was nothing short of electrifying, as fans came together to celebrate their shared passion for motocross and make it know to the riders with roars and cheers giving goosebumps to everyone present. The collective intoning of ‘La Marseillaise,’ the French national anthem, by the enthusiastic crowd before the first race. It was a moment of unity and pride that resonated deeply with everyone present. The crowd’s unwavering support for all the riders, especially the Team France, created an unforgettable experience that will undoubtedly go down in motocross history.

After five years without winning the Peter Chamberlain’s Trophy, Team France made up with Romain Febvre, Tom Vialle and Maxime Renaux took the top step of the podium at the 2023 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, on home soil in Ernée.

The day before, the trio had already performed well, taking first place overall, with a win for Tom Vialle in MX2 and for Maxime Renaux in Open, while Romain Febvre took the 5^th in MXGP. Team Manager Gautier Paulin couldn’t be happier for his riders, he who won the 2018 competition in Redbud, the United States, with Dylan Ferrandis and Jordi Tixier.

Joining the winners on the podium was Team Australia with Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence and Dean Ferris, while rounding out the podium was Team Italy, composed of Alberto Forato, Andrea Adamo and Andrea Bonacorsi.

In the euphoria of yesterday’s first-place finish in the RAM Qualifying Races, Team France needed to achieve an excellent result in front of their home fans. And Romain Febvre can be relied upon to do just that. The Frenchman knew he was expected to perform well, after Tom Vialle and Maxime Renaux had taken first places the previous day. He pleased his fans by getting off to a good start behind Jorge Prado, who took the Fox Holeshot.

The Spaniard, who is used to getting off to a roaring start, tried to break away as he had done during the RAM Qualifying Race, but this time the home hero, wouldn’t let him edge away. Staying behind his season-long rival it was around Lap 6 that #4 began his attacks on him. And after an aborted attempt, he temporarily took the lead of the race.

Behind this unstoppable duo, Team Switzerland Jeremy Seewer clung on to 3rd place until on Lap 8, when Team Germany’s Ken Roczen attacked him in a corner and snatched the last step of the podium from his grasp.The German, who made a mistake a few moments later, lost this position, but in a new battle with Seewer, he finally got it back.

But the front was the place to be, and in a burst of pride, Prado managed to regain the advantage over Febvre thanks to a strong move. The Spaniard thought he had done the hard part with three laps to go, but he underestimated his opponent, who decided to engage in a virile side-by-side battle. The crowd certainly played its part at this point in the race, as the Frenchman managed to get back in front of the Spaniard. Febvre achieved a new feat for Team France, crossing the finish line first, ahead of Jorge Prado, 2nd and Ken Roczen, 3rd.

One of the most remarkable comebacks of the day belonged to Team Australia’s Jett Lawrence, who, despite an early fall that left him languishing in the mid-20s, showcased his tenacity and skill. Lawrence embarked on an aggressive charge through the pack, taking daring lines to make a remarkable comeback and ultimately finishing an impressive 6th.

In Race 2 – MX2 and Open classes – Team Switzerland’s Valentin Guillod came out to play spoilsport, taking the lead through the first corner, taking the FOX Holeshot and avoiding the pile-up that left a dozen unfortunate riders behind. But the experienced Swiss barely had time to savour his start, as in the second corner, Team Spain’s Ruben Fernandez took the smile away from him by getting in front. That destabilised Seewer and Arnaud Tonus’s teammate, who ended up on the ground a few meters later.

Behind, Team France’s Maxime Renaux took advantage of the Swiss rider’s rout to close on Fernandez. The French public’s favourite kept a close distance from the Spaniard and waited until Lap 10 to make a move on his rival. A first attempt was denied by Fernandez, who had seen #6 trying to pass on the outside. But the next attempt was the winning one, after a very long jump, which Fernandez could do nothing anoput. The Spanish rider crashed a few seconds later, jeopardizing his hopes of top spot finish in the race. Team France’s Tom Vialle, who was in third place at the time, wasted no time in passing the unfortunate #18.

Meanwhile, the battle for the last step of the podium was already raging between Team Belgium’s Liam Everts and Team Italy’s Andrea Adamo. Usually teammates, the two young riders did not do each other any favour. Adamo put a lot of pressure on the Belgian in the final minutes of the race, but the MX2 World Champion was unable to get the upper hand.

Renaux eased off the throttle a little towards the end of the race but took the win ahead of his compatriot, Vialle. Everts took 3rd place. Adamo and Team Australia’s Hunter Lawrence completed the Top 5.

The final round of the day saw the MXGP and Open classes battle it out. And it was Roczen who crossed the Fox Holeshot line ahead of everyone else. Renaux had been following the German closely but was caught by J.Lawrence after a few corners and ended up 3rd.

Just outside the podium, Team Slovenia’s Tim Gajser struggled to get the better of Fernandez and made the pass on lap 3. However, the Slovenian was unable to hold on to 4th place, and had to give it up under pressure from Prado, who was more discreet during this round.

A little further back, Team Italy’s Alberto Forato in fine form at the end of the year, got into a battle with Febvre for 8th place. But the Frenchman was no slouch at this game, and on Lap 3 he powered through the Italian on a straight section. Less than a minute later, the two riders were at it again, and the Italian regained his position on a downhill. But on lap 7, the hard-working Frenchman played another trick on Forato, taking a shortcut through the air.

Almost at the same time, J.Lawrence 2nd, also took to the air on Lap 7, his double jump leaving Roczen struggling with the ground. The Australian didn’t wait for his rivals and went straight to victory. He won ahead of Roczen 2nd, Renaux 3rd, Prado 4th and Gajser 5th.

Once the final race had concluded at the podium celebrations had ended, the team’s headed to the Media Centre for the official press conference where the top three nations, the individual class winners and the winner of the Ricky Carmichael Award answered journalists’ questions and were awarded with their prizes.

Team Germany’s Ken Roczen was the overall winner in the MXGP category, while in the MX2 class it was Team France’s Tom Vialle. Team France’s Maxime Renaux won the individual win in the Open category while it was Team Belgium’s Lucas Coenen who got rewarded the Ricky Carmichael Award for the youngest and best scoring rider in the class.

The top three teams were presented with their FIM medals by FIM President Jorge Viegas, FFM President Sebastien Poirier and FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela, followed by the presentation of the Champions Rings to the winning team by Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo.

Maxime Renaux: “It’s an amazing weekend. I went first and third in the race so I helped the team to get the win but I also have two amazing teammates with Romain (Febvre) and Tom (Vialle). Tom did a super good job and Romain too. I really think it was the winning team today. I’m so happy that we could put it together because it’s never easy, even more as we were expected by the French crowd sop really happy that we could bring it home. It’s an amazing feeling, I never seen that many people around a track, singing an all. It was really emotional.”

Jett Lawrence: “In the first race the start wasn’t too bad but after falling and starting dead last wasn’t ideal but I felt good on the track, I felt fit and not tired at all and were able to finish strong. On the second race, I was able to get a good start to go 2nd and got to chase Kenny (Roczen) like back in America. I then put my head down and got on the flow to pass him. It’s the best-ever finished yet, and we’re looking forward for next year”

Andrea Adamo: “It was an amazing moment for us. I wasn’t feeling my best in the first race but we were having fun which is the most important. I the second race I was able to get a better start and makes some passes and I was fighting with Liam (Everts) for P.3 although I was really happy to finish fourth and second of the MX2. This result means a lot for us as we are very young and the other guys have more experience than us so it almost feels like a win for us!”
