JEFFREY HERLINGS TO MISS INDONESIAN GRAND PRIX – Fractured C5 vertebrae to heal

JEFFREY HERLINGS PERDERÀ IL DOPPIO GRAN PREMIO D’INDONESIA PER INFORTUNIO AL COLLO

Jeffrey Herlings della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing salterà i round dieci e undici dell’attuale campagna MXGP 2023 per consentire la guarigione di una vertebra C5 fratturata.

Il 28enne olandese è caduto mentre era in testa alla prima manche del Gran Premio di Germania a Teutschenthal. Herlings è riuscito a rimontare e completare gli ultimi giri della gara, segnando un punto per il 20° posto, ma ha sentito dolore e fastidio al collo. Una scansione iniziale in pista ha rivelato un C5 potenzialmente incrinato e una risonanza magnetica lunedì ha confermato l’infortunio.

Herlings, che ha vinto quattro Gran Premi ed è salito sul podio MXGP sei volte con la KTM 450 SX-F in questa stagione mentre era in lizza per il sesto titolo mondiale, fortunatamente non ha bisogno di un intervento chirurgico per riparare la frattura ma dovrà riposare e riprendersi . La convalescenza significa che salterà i Gran Premi a Sumbawa e Lombok alla fine del mese e all’inizio di luglio.

La Red Bull KTM Factory Racing spera in un rapido ritorno alla piena forma fisica per la loro stella e si concentrerà completamente sul loro programma MX2 con Andrea Adamo che detiene la tabella rossa e Liam Everts ancora fresco dopo la sua prima vittoria in carriera in Germania.

Jeffrey Herlings: “È difficile trovare molte parole. In un certo senso riassume la mia carriera: otteniamo il record di vittorie ma poi subiamo un altro infortunio e un’altra battuta d’arresto. Non so ancora cosa sia realmente successo con l’incidente perché fino a quel momento avevo usato bene quella traiettoria in moto. In seguito il mio collo non si sentiva bene. Ho provato a finire e prendere i punti che potevo, ma ormai conosco molto bene il mio corpo e sentivo che qualcosa non andava. Quindi, ci mancheranno almeno altri due GP, ma sono contento di non aver bisogno di un intervento chirurgico e spero di tornare con la mia squadra e correre di nuovo il prima possibile. JEFFREY HERLINGS TO MISS INDONESIAN GRAND PRIX DOUBLE WITH NECK INJURY

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings will miss rounds ten and eleven of the current 2023 MXGP campaign to allow a fractured C5 vertebrae to heal.

The 28-year-old Dutchman crashed while leading the first moto of the Grand Prix of Germany in Teutschenthal. Herlings was able to remount and complete the final laps of the race, scoring one point for 20th place, but felt pain and discomfort in his neck. An initial scan at the track revealed a potentially cracked C5 and an MRI on Monday confirmed the injury.
 
Herlings, who has won four Grands Prix and walked the MXGP podium six times with the KTM 450 SX-F this season while in firm contention for a sixth world title, fortunately does not require surgery to repair the fracture but will need to rest and recover. The convalescence means he’ll sit out Grands Prix in Sumbawa and Lombok at the end of the month and into the beginning of July.
 
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing hope for a speedy return to full fitness for their star and will focus fully on their MX2 program with Andrea Adamo holding the red plate and Liam Everts still fresh after his maiden career victory in Germany.
 
Jeffrey Herlings: “It’s hard to find many words. It sums up my career in a way: we get the wins record but then suffer another injury and another setback. I still don’t know what really happened with the crash because I’d been using that line nicely in the moto until that point. Afterwards my neck didn’t feel right. I tried to finish and take what points I could but I know my body very well by now and could feel something was wrong. So, we’ll miss another two GPs at least but I’m glad I won’t need surgery and I hope to be back with my team and racing again as soon as I can.
