Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP mira al titolo mondiale MXGP nel 2023
Dopo una produttiva bassa stagione trascorsa a testare e sviluppare la nuovissima YZ450FM, il team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP e il suo trio di contendenti al titolo MXGP Jeremy Seewer, Maxime Renaux e Glenn Coldenhoff sono pronti e pronti a mettere alla prova la nuova moto al round di apertura del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross a Villa la Angostura, in Argentina, questo fine settimana.
Yamaha entra nel 2023 come campione in carica nel Campionato del Mondo Costruttori dopo un anno memorabile nel 2022 che ha visto il team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory assicurarsi sette pole position, 14 vittorie in gara e 22 podi, di cui cinque vittorie nei Gran Premi, tra i suoi tre corridori Seewer, Renaux e Coldenhoff in rotta verso la corona.
Continuando con la stessa potente formazione e armato di una nuova arma, la nuovissima YZ450FM, il team è entusiasta e concentrato sul raggiungimento del gradino più alto del podio.
La corsa al titolo MXGP 2023 inizia qui! E, non è un segreto, i tre piloti Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP puntano al titolo.
Seewer entra nel suo sesto anno nella classe regina e nella sesta stagione in blu con gli occhi puntati sul primo titolo mondiale. Con 49 podi, 10 Gran Premi vinti e cinque medaglie d’argento iridate al suo attivo, e dopo una pre-stagione di enorme successo in cui ha festeggiato tre vittorie su quattro, sulla strada per la corona degli Internazionali d’Italia, La stella svizzera è destinata a essere una forza da non sottovalutare quest’anno.
Dopo un’impressionante stagione da rookie, in cui ha celebrato una prima vittoria del Gran Premio nella classe 450 come una delle sue sette presenze sul podio nel 2022, Renaux punterà al titolo nel 2023. Il giovane francese ha trascorso gli ultimi mesi a perfezionare la sua messa a punto sulla nuova moto da gara e arriva in Argentina incoraggiato dal ricordo della sua primissima vittoria in una gara di classe MXGP, che è stata in Gara 1 alla MXGP di Patagonia-Argentina, lo scorso anno.
La nuova stagione inizia con una motivazione in più per il veterano della MXGP Coldenhoff, che si è subito innamorato della nuova YZ450FM sin dal suo primo giro. L’olandese ha iniziato il 2023 con una straordinaria vittoria contro alcuni dei più duri della MXGP nella sua prima e unica gara pre-campionato in Inghilterra poche settimane fa, e arriva alla splendida Patagonia Race Track su di giri e pronto a lottare per il suo primo titolo mondiale.
La pista, situata nel verde delle sponde dei laghi Correntoso e Nahuel Huapi a circa 70 chilometri a nord di Bariloche, è una delle più spettacolari del calendario. A differenza di qualsiasi cosa vista in Europa, la base della pista è un terreno vulcanico scuro e granuloso, e il tracciato è veloce, largo e scorrevole. Questo fine settimana, la sede che ha ospitato sei round MXGP dalla sua introduzione nel 2015 vedrà anche l’inizio di una nuova era con l’assegnazione di Championship Point ai primi 10 classificati nella gara di qualificazione di sabato per la prima volta in assoluto. Il pilota che vincerà la Qualifying Race guadagnerà 10 punti; il secondo ottiene 9 punti, il terzo 8 e così via.
La prima occasione per i piloti di scendere in pista sarà sabato (11 marzo), a partire dalle prove libere MX2 alle 10:45 seguite dalle prove libere MXGP alle 11:15. I cancelli scenderanno per le gare di qualificazione che pagano punti alle 15:25 (MX2) e alle 16:10 (MXGP). Tutti gli orari sono locali (GMT – 3).

“Il mio inverno e la bassa stagione sono stati onestamente uno dei migliori che abbia mai avuto nella mia carriera. Era molto impegnato con molte cose che accadevano come eventi per gli sponsor tra le altre cose. La nuova moto significava che c’era molto lavoro da fare. Quindi abbiamo avuto molti giorni di test in più rispetto alla nostra solita bassa stagione per cercare di preparare la moto per la stagione. Nel complesso, ho avuto una bassa stagione davvero solida senza battute d’arresto. Andando in Argentina, l’obiettivo è chiaro. Voglio vincere, ma so anche che è una stagione lunga. Mi allineerò rilassato e senza pressioni e farò ciò per cui mi sono allenato tutto l’inverno. Adoro il posto in Argentina, è sempre stato speciale per me, in realtà è dove ho ottenuto il mio primo podio in MX2, quindi sento sempre un entusiasmo speciale quando vengo qui.

“Mi sento decisamente pronto per l’inizio della stagione. L’inverno è stato buono. Abbiamo fatto molti test e allenamenti, quindi sono pronto per questo. L’obiettivo per il primo turno è rilassarmi, dare il massimo e cercare di costruire la mia stagione da lì. Mi piace molto la pista in Argentina. Ovviamente, ho dei bei ricordi dell’anno scorso dopo aver ottenuto la mia prima vittoria in gara nella classe MXGP durante la mia stagione da rookie dopo alcune belle battaglie. Ci sono anche molti fan e creano sempre un’atmosfera fantastica, e questo è qualcosa che amo”.

“Ho avuto un inverno davvero buono con alcune solide settimane di allenamento sia fisicamente che sulla moto. Abbiamo fatto molti test con la nuova moto, come ti aspetteresti. Sono davvero contento di dove siamo. Non vedo l’ora di iniziare. L’obiettivo è divertirsi, godersi la corsa e in questo modo sono sicuro che arriverà un buon risultato. Non ho ottenuto i migliori risultati in Argentina in passato, ma spero di cambiare le cose questo fine settimana”.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Targets MXGP World Title in 2023
After a productive off-season spent testing and developing the all-new YZ450FM, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team and its trio of MXGP title contenders Jeremy Seewer, Maxime Renaux and Glenn Coldenhoff are geared up and ready to put the new bike through its paces at the opening round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Villa la Angostura, Argentina, this weekend.
Yamaha enters 2023 as the defending champions in the Manufacturer’s World Championship after a memorable year in 2022 that saw the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory team secure seven pole positions, 14 race wins, and 22 podium finishes, of which five were Grand Prix victories, between its three riders Seewer, Renaux and Coldenhoff enroute to the crown.
Continuing with the same potent line-up and armed with a new weapon, the all-new YZ450FM, the team is fired up and focused on reaching the top step of the podium.
The 2023 MXGP title chase starts here! And, it is no secret, the three Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP riders are going for the title.
Seewer enters his sixth year inside the premier class and sixth season in blue with his sights set firmly on a maiden world title. With 49 podium finishes, 10 Grand Prix wins and five Championship silver medals to his credit, and after a hugely successful pre-season in which he celebrated three, from four, race wins, on his way to the Internazionali d’Italia crown, the Swiss star is bound to be a force to be reckoned with this year.
After an impressive rookie season, in which he celebrated a maiden Grand Prix win in the 450 class as one of his seven podium appearances in 2022, Renaux will be targeting the title in 2023. The young Frenchman has spent the past few months refining his race set-up on the new bike and arrives in Argentina buoyed by the memory of his very first MXGP-class race win, which was in Race 1 at the MXGP of Patagonia-Argentina, last year.
The new season begins with added motivation for MXGP veteran Coldenhoff, who has instantly gelled with the new YZ450FM right from his first ride. The Dutchman started 2023 with a stunning victory against a few of MXGP’s toughest at his first and only pre-season race in England a few weeks ago, and arrives at the stunning Patagonia Race Track revved up and ready to fight for his first-ever world title.
The track, located in the greenery of the Correntoso and Nahuel Huapi lakeshores approximately 70 kilometers north of Bariloche, is one of the most spectacular on the calendar. Unlike anything seen in Europe, the track’s base is dark and grainy volcanic soil, and the layout is fast, wide and flowing. This weekend, the venue that has hosted six MXGP rounds since its introduction in 2015 will also see the start of a new era with Championship Points being awarded to the top 10 finishers in the Qualifying Race on Saturday for the first time ever. The rider that wins the Qualifying Race will earn 10 points; second place gets 9 points, third gets 8, and so on.
The first opportunity for the riders to go out on track will be on Saturday (11th March), starting with MX2 Free Practice at 10:45 followed by MXGP Free Practice at 11:15. Gates will drop for the points paying Qualifying Races at 15:25 (MX2) and 16:10 (MXGP). All timings are local (GMT – 3).

“My winter and off-season was honestly one of the best I have ever had in my career. It was very busy with a lot of things happening like sponsor events among other things. The new bike meant there was a lot of work to do. So we had a lot of extra days testing in comparison to our usual off-season to try and get the bike ready for the season. Overall, I had a really solid off-season with no setbacks. Going into Argentina, the goal is clear. I want to win, but I also know it’s a long season. I will just line-up relaxed and without pressure and do what I’ve trained all winter for. I love the place in Argentina, it’s always been special to me, it’s actually where I had my first ever podium in MX2, so I always feel a special buzz when I come here.”

“I definitely feel ready for the season to start. The winter was good. We did a lot of testing and training, so I am ready for it. The goal for the first round is to relax, give my best and look to build my season from there. I really like the track in Argentina. Obviously, I have some great memories from there last year after taking my first race win in the MXGP class during my rookie season after some good battles. There are also a lot of fans, and they always create an amazing atmosphere, and this is something I love.”

“I had a really good winter with some solid weeks of training both physically and on the bike. We did a lot of testing with the new bike, as you would expect. I am really happy with where we are at. I haven’t had the best results in Argentina in the past, but I hope to change that this weekend.”
