Maggiora: giornata di Sport, Spettacolo e Divertimento con le leggende del Motocross. Ottima la risposta del pubblico nell’anno dell’esordio della manifestazione che ha potuto godere di un fine settimana dal clima estivo, per un evento che vuole diventare un appuntamento fisso per gli appassionati di tutto il mondo.
Una delle più belle pagine della sua storia è stata scritta questo fine settimana sulla pista del Maggiora Park dove si sono tenuti il round finale del Campionato Italiano d’epoca di Motocross e la prima edizione della FIM Vintage World Cup. I 290 piloti in gara per i 21 titoli di categoria del campionato tricolore si sono alternati in pista con le leggende delle ruote tassellate, nel nuovo format dell’Arma Hero Superfestival, capitanate dal nove volte Campione del Mondo, Antonio Cairoli e dal mito del Supercross americano, Jeremy McGrath.
Dopo le esibizioni del sabato e le tre manche del Arma Hero Superfestival che hanno visto protagonisti tra gli altri, Joel Smets, Mike Brown, David Philippaerts, Alessandro Lupino, Dug Dubac, Gautier Paulin e Christophe Pourcell, i giganti delle ruote tassellate hanno sfilato domenica mattina durante il turno di prove libere insieme ai componenti della Nazionale italiana del Motocross delle Nazioni del 1986, Michele Rinaldi, Corrado Maddii e Massimo Contini, a Michele Fanton, Jacky Vimond, Brocciaste Glover e a tantissimi altri campioni, preceduti dal pick-up Arma con a bordo Emilio Ostorero e Giuseppe Cavallero che ha aperto loro la strada nel primo mezzo giro, prima di sfidarsi nel pomeriggio nelle ultime due manche del Arma Hero Superfestival, regalando e regalandosi ancora un’infinità di emozioni, sfilando davanti allo starter d’eccezione Alex Puzar.
Il pubblico di appassionati dello sport e della storia del Motocross ha così potuto vivere una due giorni al fianco degli idoli della propria infanzia e ai piloti che hanno contribuito a costruire il successo di Maggiora, portando il nome della pista piemontese in tutto il mondo. Il CEO di A Sport Group, vera e propria anima della manifestazione, è sceso in pista con i campioni che hanno contribuito a portare la pista del Mottaccio del Balmone ai vertici della specialità, assieme ad Andrea Dovizioso che ritiratosi dalla MotoGP una settimana fa, ha accettato di buon grado l’invito ad unirsi ai piloti delle ruote tassellate.
Stefano Avandero Presidente A Sport Group: “Avevo questo sogno nel cassetto da tanto tempo e volevo riportare a Maggiora la passione che il motocross mi trasmetteva quando ero un ragazzino. Volevo ricreare il clima di divertimento e festa che mi ha appassionato sin dalla fine degli anni ’90; all’epoca nessuno mi portava a correre o a vedere le gare e così mi è rimasto forte il desiderio di dar vita a qualcosa di questo genere. Oggi sono felice di vedere, grazie anche a tutti i membri del Maggiora Park questo sogno realizzato. In questa occasiona abbiamo anche voluto omaggiare un vero appassionato di Motocross come Andrea Dovizioso, con una maglia celebrativa, autografata e dedicata da tutti i campioni presenti in pista.”
Antonio Cairoli: “E’ stato davvero bello essere qui in occasione di questo fine settimana! Come sempre Stefano organizza tutto al top e poter girare in pista con tanti campioni e con il mito della mia infanzia, Jeremy McGrath, è stata una soddisfazione speciale, difficile da descrivere. Ora ci concentriamo per il Nazioni che si terrà tra due settimane in America ma dopo questa full immersion di passione, sono più carico che mai.
Andrea Dovizioso: “Avere la maglia di Maggiora con l’autografo di tutti questi Campioni europei e americani è stato un regalo fantastico. Frequentarli ed essere in mezzo a loro dentro e fuori la pista è stato un sogno; mi hanno fatto sentire un cronista vero. Stefano poi è riuscito a portare a Maggiora tutti questi piloti e a farci passare tre giorni indimenticabili tutti insieme.”
Jeremy McGrath: “Tornare a Maggiora è stato davvero fantastico, essere in pista con tutti questi campioni del passato e del presente ha reso questo fine settimana indimenticabile. Mi sono divertito davvero tanto e pur restando nei limite della sicurezza, ci siamo anche sfidati in divertenti duelli con Cairoli e gli altri ragazzi, regalando al pubblico emozioni e spettacolo, anche se il regalo vero l’hanno fatto Stefano e i ragazzi di Maggiora invitandomi”

Maggiora was a day of Sport, Entertainment and Fun with the legends of Motocross. The public response was excellent in the opening year of the event, which was able to enjoy a weekend of summer weather, for an event that wants to become a fixture for fans from all over the world.
One of the most beautiful pages in its history was written this weekend on the Maggiora Park track where the final round of the Italian vintage Motocross Championship and the first edition of the FIM Vintage World Cup were held. The 290 riders competing for the 21 category titles of the Italian championship alternated on the track with the legends of knobby wheels, in the new format of the Arma Hero Superfestival, led by the nine-time World Champion, Antonio Cairoli and by the legend of American Supercross, Jeremy McGrath.
After the performances on Saturday and the three heats of the Arma Hero Superfestival which saw protagonists, among others, Joel Smets, Mike Brown, James Dobb, David Philippaerts, Alessandro Lupino, Doug Dubac, Gautier Paulin and Christophe Pourcell, the giants of parade on Sunday morning during the free practice session together with the components of the Italian National Motocross of Nations in 1986, Michele Rinaldi, Corrado Maddii and Massimo Contini, Michele Fanton, Jacky Vimond, Broc Glover and many other champions, preceded by the Arma pick-up with on board Emilio Ostorero and Giuseppe Cavallero who opened the way for them in the first half lap, before challenging each other in the afternoon in the last two heats of the Arma Hero Superfestival, giving and giving himself an infinity of emotions, parading in front of the exceptional starter Alex Puzar.
The public of fans of the sport and of the history of Motocross was thus able to experience two days alongside the idols of their childhood and the riders who helped build Maggiora’s success, bringing the name of the Piedmontese track all over the world. The CEO of A Sport Group, the true soul of the event, took to the track with the champions who helped bring the Mottaccio del Balmone track to the top of the specialty, together with Andrea Dovizioso who retired from MotoGP a week ago, gladly accepted the invitation to join the pilots of the knobby wheels.
Stefano Avandero President of A Sport Group: “I had this dream in my drawer for a long time and I wanted to bring back to Maggiora the passion that motocross transmitted to me when I was a kid. I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of fun and party that has fascinated me since the late 90s; at the time no one took me to run or to see races and so I had a strong desire to create something of this kind. Today I am happy to see this dream come true, thanks also to all the members of Maggiora Park. On this occasion we also wanted to pay homage to a true Motocross fan like Andrea Dovizioso, with a celebratory jersey, autographed and dedicated by all the champions on the track. ”
Antonio Cairoli: “It was really nice to be here this weekend! As always Stefano organizes everything at the top and being able to ride on the track with so many champions and with the myth of my childhood, Jeremy McGrath, was a special satisfaction, difficult to describe. Now we are concentrating for the Nations to be held in two weeks in America but after this full immersion of passion, I am more excited than ever.
Andrea Dovizioso: “Having Maggiora’s shirt with the autograph of all these European and American champions was a fantastic gift. Attending them and being among them on and off the track was a dream; they made me feel like a real reporter. Stefano then managed to bring all these riders to Maggiora and let us spend three unforgettable days all together. ”
Jeremy McGrath: “Coming back to Maggiora was really fantastic, being on track with all these champions from the past and present made this weekend unforgettable. I had a lot of fun and while remaining within the limits of safety, we also challenged each other in amusing duels with Cairoli and the other guys, giving the public emotions and entertainment, even if Stefano and the guys from Maggiora gave me the real gift ”
