8° round del campionato Supercross, uno spettacolo grazie alla TRIPLE CROWN a Detroit, forse alcuni devono ancora digerirla o forse no, ma fino alla fine il risultato non era scontato! Tomac torna alla vittoria, Cooper Webb ancora tabella rossa, Ken Roczen influenzato, un certo Chad Reed segna il suo 132° podio con i suoi 36 anni di età, marvin Musquin non brilla e nemmeno Justin Barcia, il campionato rimane bello attivo e vivo. Eli Tomac: “Era davvero on-off stasera, la scorsa settimana tutto ciò che ho fatto è stato andare indietro. Siamo andati in California questa settimana, abbiamo fatto un po ‘di lavoro, siamo diventati più agili. Andava bene così, bello vedere i test e che le cose vengono ripagate. Era così – questa sera sarebbe stata una grande svolta, se avessi avuto un’altra gara così la scorsa settimana, saremmo stati più vicino alla testa del campionato. Quindi, cavolo, un fine settimana così è meglio, stavamo semplicemente provando tutto in queste prove e, naturalmente, entrando in quel terzo main lì con quel grande vantaggio, ti senti un po ‘troppo comodo. Questo ha completamente distrutto la partenza e ho avuto un altro posto dove non volevo stare e ho anche quasi colpito una protezione a brdo pista. Certamente Coop è in cima carico e io ero tipo “Accidenti, devo andare avanti”. Ma nel complesso questo weekend è stato migliore per noi. Mi fa piacere essere qui. Kranz [meccanico] ha fatto un buon lavoro stasera inserendo sulla lavagna i commenti, dicendomi la mia posizione. A un certo punto mise ‘Need three guys’ e io ero tipo ‘Wow, ci vorrà molto lavoro’. Con Deano che andava giù, ciò rendeva il lavoro un po ‘più facile. Ma in entrambi i casi è stato piuttosto difficile. ”
Cooper Webb: “”Oggi non è iniziato al meglio, stavo lottando con la pista all’inizio della giornata e mi sono qualificato nono. Sono andato al Main Event con il pick-up non-migliore per la Triple Crown ma ho fatto una buona partenza nel primo. Ho appena commesso un sacco di errori e non ho guidato così bene ma noi, come squadra, ci siamo riorganizzati e abbiamo capito alcune cose per migliorare. Guardando indietro, vorrei aver fatto un po ‘meglio nel primo e avrei potuto potenzialmente ottenere il complessivo, ma è una gara ed è bello essere sul podio con un secondo posto, e ottenere un’altra vittoria nel Main Event è bello. ”
Chad Reed: “”È sicuramente un sollievo, un grande sollievo, “Reed sul podio di nuovo”, ma Justin Brayton ha il record che voglio davvero (il vincitore della corsa più vecchio), ho alcuni passi da fare! È stata una giornata divertente. Fin dall’inizio (prove) mi sentivo a posto, per me non è sempre questione di dove sei, ma mentirei se dicessi che non volevo vedermi nella top ten in prova. Mi sentivo razziale e con una buona partenza potevo andare. Era un ritmo veloce, le whoops erano difficili, quindi mi andava bene stasera. 132 podi, è divertente, sono super orgoglioso di stare con questi ragazzi. Questi tizi sono i migliori supercrosser al mondo, è bello essere con loro e farlo così tardi nella mia carriera. È sempre bello passare i “bambini” (ride) non importa quale! È stato bello passare il ragazzo che era in fiamme stasera (Tomac), è stato bello, ho cercato di aggrapparmi a lui e ho trovato alcune buone battute da lui “.
Ken Roczen: “Sono contento che stanotte sia finita. Ad un solo punto di distanza dal podio. Ho lottato tutta la settimana con l’influenza. Lo sono ancora! Il mio corpo non si sentiva all’altezza stanotte ma ho cercato di minimizzare il danno. Felice di essere in salute. Spero di avere una settimana molto migliore.
Ps. Mi dispiace davvero di non essermi presentato alla sessione autografi di venerdì. Come prima di Dallas. È qui che è iniziata la mia malattia e sto solo cercando di ottenere il massimo dalla mia guarigione. Spero che i miei fan capiscano. Ci vediamo in ATL. Inerente ad un sorpasso con Wilson dove il medesimo è finito a terra, Roczen risponde ad un follower che lo accusa: Questo è stato un semplice incidente di gara. Eravamo tutti molto vicini. Ero dentro, ha girato presto e ci siamo scontrati. Colpa di nessuno Sono in una battaglia a punti e anche io non voglio più farmi del male in quel modo. Perché dovrei metterlo a terra di proposito? Inoltre, gli ho inviato un messaggio di scuse che questo incidente che è accaduto.
Marvin Musquin: “”E ‘stata sicuramente una giornata difficile per non iniziare molto bene. Vorrei essere partito un po ‘meglio, almeno tra i primi tre. È stato difficile passare con molta intensità fuori da tutti nei primi giri di ogni moto e ho fatto un grosso errore e sono saltato fuori pista nella prima manche e questo mi è costato parecchio. La guida è andata bene stasera, ho fatto segnare dei buoni tempi sul giro durante ciascuna delle tre manche, quindi so che la velocità era lì, ma sfortunatamente è stato difficile ottenere buoni risultati. Justin Barcia (7°): “E ‘stata un’altra notte pazza di gare per me a Detroit. La pista era davvero buona. Aveva un sacco di opzioni e mi sentivo come se la mia moto funzionasse bene nelle whoops. Le prime due gare per me non sono state eccezionali con le braccia dure che ho affrontato, ma l’ultima gara è stata un passo nella giusta direzione. Ho condtto alcuni giri e ho fatto un bel giro con un po ‘di braccia dure. Le mie partenze sono decisamente migliorate, quindi le cose stanno sicuramente iniziando a farsi strada. Quindi, tutto sommato, è stato un fine settimana decente. Non vedo davvero l’ora di andare ad Atlanta. ”
Dean Wilson (11°): “Oggi si parlava di emozioni contrastanti. Dico questo perché mi sono qualificato secondo e la mia guida è stata molto buona in entrambe le sessioni di prove libere ma ho lottato nelle gare questa sera. Mi sento come se fossi molto più capace di questo, quindi per la terza gara ero abbastanza entusiasta e sono partito molto bene. Sono rimasto al quarto posto per tutta la gara e sfortunatamente ho commesso un errore nel lasciare Marvin [Musquin] da parte mia e sono andato a piazzarlo davanti al pubblico ma non mi ero reso conto che Kenny [Roczen] era proprio lì e io sono stato pulito, ma sono le gare. Undicesimo nel complesso non è sicuramente dove voglio essere, sono molto capace di stare su quella scatola (podio) ma ho solo bisogno di farlo accadere “.

Eli Tomac: “It was a light switch really, last week all I did was go backwards,” said Tomac. “We went to California this week, did some work, got comfier. It was good that way—good to see the testing and stuff pay off. That’s the way it was—tonight would have been a big swing,” he said,” if I had another race like I had last week, it would have been close to being over as far as the championship. So, gosh, such a better weekend, we were just feeling it through all of those practices, and of course going into that third main there with that big cushion, you get a little too comfy. Totally blew the start and had another place where I went flying off and almost hit the haybale. Of course Coop is up there charging up front and I was like ‘Gosh, I got to get going.’ But overall such a better weekend for us. Feels good to be here. Kranz [mechanic, Brian] did a good job tonight putting it on the board, telling me my position on there. At one point he put ‘Need three guys’ and I was like ‘Wow, this is going to take a lot of work.’ With Deano going down, that made it a little easier on us. But either way it was pretty tough.”
Cooper Webb: “Today didn’t start off the best, I was struggling with the track earlier in the day and qualified ninth. I went to the Main Event with not-the-best gate pick for the Triple Crown but I got a good start in the first one. I just made a lot of mistakes and didn’t ride that well but we, as a team, regrouped and figured out some things to get better. Looking back, I wish I would have done a little better in the first one and I could have potentially gotten the overall but that’s racing and it’s good to be on the podium with a second place, and to get another Main Event win is nice.”
Chad Reed: “It’s a relief for sure, but Justin Brayton has the record I really want (oldest race winner), I’ve got some steps to go! It was a fun day. Right from the beginning (practice) I felt okay, for me it’s not always about where your at, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to see myself up in the top ten in practice. I felt racey and with a good start I could go. It was a fast pace, the whoops were tough, so that suited me tonight. 132 podiums, it’s fun, super proud to be up with these guys. These dudes are the best supercross guys in the world it’s nice to be up with them and doing it this late in my career. It’s always good to pass the kids (laughs) doesn’t matter which one! It was nice to pass the guy that was on fire tonight (Tomac), it was good, I tried to latch unto the back of him and I found a few good lines from him.”
Ken Roczen (4°): “Glad tonight is over. Just 1 point away from the podium. I struggled all week with a flu. Still am! My body didn’t feel up to par tonight but i tried to minimize the damage. Glad to be healthy. I hope i m going to have a lot better week this week.
Ps. I m really sorry for not showing up to the signing on Friday again. Same as before Dallas. That’s where my illness started and i am just trying to get the most out of my recovery. Hope my fans understand.🤘🏽 See y’all in ATL
This was a simple racing incident. We were all very close. I was on the inside he cut down early and we collided. Nobodies fault. I am in a points battle and also i don’t want to get hurt that way again. Why would i purposely put him down. On top of that i sent him an apology text that this incident even happened.
Marvin Musquin (6°): “It was definitely a tough day of not getting very good starts. I wish I would have started a little bit better, at least in the top three. It was hard to pass with a lot of intensity out of everyone in the first few laps of each moto and I made a big mistake and jumped off the track in the first moto and that cost me a lot. The riding was good tonight, I clocked some really good lap times during each of the three motos so I know the speed was there but unfortunately it was hard to get good results. There was a lot going on in those three Main Events and it’s frustrating but we never give up.”
Dean Wilson (11°): ““Today was about mixed emotions. I say that because I qualified second and my riding was really good in both sessions of practice but I struggled in the races tonight. I feel like with my riding I’m a lot more capable than that, so for the third race, I was pretty fired up and came off the start really good. I stayed in fourth the whole race right there and unfortunately, I made a mistake to allow Marvin [Musquin] by me and I went to square him up right before the whoops but I didn’t realize Kenny [Roczen] was right there and I kind of got cleaned out, but that’s racing. Eleventh overall is definitely not where I want to be, I’m very well capable of being on that box but I just need to make it happen.”
Justin Barcia (7°): ““It was another crazy night of racing for me in Detroit. The track was really good. It had a lot of option sections and I felt like my bike was working good in the whoops. The first two races for me were not great with the arm pump I dealt with, but the last race was a step in the right direction. I led some laps and put in a pretty good ride with a little bit of arm pump. My starts have definitely been getting better, so things are definitely starting to come around. So all in all, it was a decent weekend. I’m really looking forward to Atlanta.”
