Herlings dice che il duello con Cairoli è buono per MXGP e KTM
Tre turni nel 2018 MXGP, Jeffrey Herlings e Tony Cairoli non solo condividono lo stesso numero di punti, ma anche le classifiche delle vittorie in campionato. La situazione ha spinto alcune indagini sul regolamento FIM domenica sera in Spagna per il Gran Premio della Comunitat Valenciana per vedere chi avrebbe indossato la tabella rossa come leader della serie per il quarto di venti GP ad Arco di Trento tra due settimane (sarà Cairoli come vincitore dell’ultima gara).
Il duo Red Bull KTM quest’anno è riuscito a superare il resto di un gruppo molto competitivo nella classe regina con almeno diciannove piloti che vantano l’esperienza vincente dei GP. Herlings ha inseguito e superato il campione in carica in Argentina e Olanda, ma Cairoli è tornato sul gradino pià alto del podio in Spagna. Mentre il siciliano ha deciso di non commentare la stretta battaglia che sta facendo esplodere il clamore intorno alla MXGP, Herlings ha potuto vedere le ripercussioni positive della loro lotta.
“Penso che sia buono, soprattutto per KTM”, ha detto # 84. “Stanno dominando entrambi, MX2 e fino ad ora in MXGP. È un grande annuncio ed è divertente anche per me e Tony, anche se non dovremmo sottovalutare la competizione, anche se fino ad ora siamo stati i più forti “.
“Il lunedì sui social media vedo commenti come ‘non vedo l’ora che il prossimo GP per vedere la battaglia continuare'”, ha aggiunto. “Ci sono fan con storie di odio-amore ma è normale. Sarà comunque un anno lungo e le prossime diciassette gare come questa saranno intense “.
Monster Energy Kawasaki Clement Desalle per due volte e Rockstar Energy IceOne Husqvarna Gautier Paulin sono gli unici altri piloti ad apparire sul podio MXGP. Il terzo pilota della KTM, Glenn Coldenhoff, è attualmente sesto in classifica per dare all’equipaggio tre rappresentanti tra i primi sei. Nel campione del mondo di classe MX2 Pauls Jonass ha ottenuto il 100% di record in tutte le manche e Jorge Prado ha fatto due sorpassi come runner-up.
Il superbo inizio di stagione dell’equipaggio della factory ha spinto il direttore di KTM Motorsports Pit Beirer a commentare: “Non ho mai visto una squadra di motocross a questo livello”. Lo scorso fine settimana la Red Bull KTM ha ripulito tutto con Marvin Musquin vincere l’evento principale AMA 450SX Supercross a Indianapolis.

Herlings says Cairoli duel is good for MXGP & KTM
Three rounds into 2018 MXGP and Jeffrey Herlings and Tony Cairoli not only share the same amount of points but also moto wins and runner-up classifications. The situation prompted some investigation into the FIM rulebook on Sunday evening in Spain for the Grand Prix of the Comunitat Valenciana to see who would wear the red plate as series leader for round four of twenty at Arco di Trento in two weeks time (it will be Cairoli as victor of the last race).
The Red Bull KTM duo have sprinted clear of the rest of a very competitive pack in the premier class this year with at least 19 riders boasting GP winning experience. Herlings chased and passed the defending champion to own rounds in Argentina and Holland but Cairoli fired back to stand on top of the podium in Spain. While the Sicilian opted not to comment on the close battle that is pushing up the hype around MXGP, Herlings could only see the positive repercussions of their tussle.
“I think it is good, especially for KTM,” #84 said. “They are dominating [both] MX2 and until now MXGP. It is a great advertisement and it is fun for Tony and me as well, although we should not underestimate the competition even if until now we have been the strongest.”
“On Mondays on social media now I see comments like ‘can’t wait for the next one to see the battle continue’” he added. “There are fans with love-hate affairs but that’s normal. It is going to be a long year though and seventeen more races like this will be intense.”
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Clement Desalle (twice) and Rockstar Energy IceOne Husqvarna’s Gautier Paulin are the only other riders to appear on the MXGP podium. Third KTM rider, Glenn Coldenhoff, currently sits sixth in the standings to give the crew three representatives in the top six. In the MX2 class world champion Pauls Jonass has a 100% record in all motos and Jorge Prado has made two rostrum appearances as runner-up.
The superb start to the season for the factory crew prompted KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer to comment: “I’ve never seen a motocross team on this level”. Last weekend Red Bull KTM cleaned up with Marvin Musquin winning the AMA 450SX Supercross main event in Indianapolis.
