Antonio Cairoli: “Questo weekend tutto è andato bene, siamo tornati di nuovo sulla 450 e cambiare moto non è cosi facile.. ma ora il mio obbiettivo è di scegliere la moto da usare l’anno prossimo, ed è per questo che stiamo facendo cosi tanti test e modifiche. Sono davvero contento di come è andata oggi perché adesso ho ritrovato la mia velocità, e questo è molto importante. Nella prima manche ho allungato un po’ e poi ho controllato la gara su una pista bella, molto tecnica e con canali profondi. Nella seconda manche ho fatto un’altra buona partenza e ho provato ad allungare di nuovo ma non è stato possibile perché Tim era davvero veloce. Mi si è avvicinato e mi ha passato.. dopodiché ho provato a seguirlo ma il mio stato di forma fisica non è ancora al 100% e così non sono riuscito a tenere il ritmo per tutto quel tempo e ho fatto degli errori. Poi mi ha passato Romain ma non era un problema per la vittoria finale e così ho guidato con prudenza ed in modo conservativo per assicurarmi la vittoria del GP, ma nell’ultimo giro ho avuto dei problemi con un doppiato e ho fatto una piccola caduta che mi è costata due posizioni.. ero molto amareggiato. Ma comunque abbiamo conquistato la vittoria generale in questo posto bellissimo e davanti a questo pubblico fantastico, che è la cosa più importante. Ora abbiamo un po’ di pausa per fare un po’ di test prima di Assen e saremo pronti per fare un buona gara sulla sabbia.”
Tim Gajser: “Nella prima manche sono partito bene ed ero lì attaccato a Cairoli e Paulin e mi stavo preparando a passare in testa ma poi mi si è chiuso l’anteriore in un canale e sono caduto. È stata dura ripartire perché tutti mi passavano vicino e ho dovuto aspettare che quasi tutti mi passassero prima di poter tirare su la moto. Per fortuna era ancora accesa e così sono riuscito a ripartire facilmente, dopodiché ho spinto davvero forte. È difficile superare qui a causa della natura della pista e dei lunghi canali. Abbiamo capito che la velocità c’era ma non ero contento del nono posto. La seconda gara è andata molto meglio, ho fatto l’holeshot ma poi sono andato troppo all’esterno e così Cairoli mi ha superato. Quando ho fatto il sorpasso Tony mi stava spingendo forte.. e poi anche Febvre.. abbiamo fatto una bella gara combattuta. Sono davvero contento di essere sul podio soprattutto dopo l’errore nella prima gara. Adesso mancano solo tre gare e abbiamo un bel vantaggio. Ad essere sincero non cambieremo niente perché la cosa migliore da fare è di continuare come abbiamo fatto durante tutta la stagione, ma ora si che cominciamo a pensare un po’ di più al titolo…!”
Romain Febvre: “La prima manche è andata bene ma poi ho fatto un errore e ho perso posizioni e il mio ritmo su questa pista. Nella seconda manche non sono partito altrettanto bene ma ho rimontato dal secondo giro e ho dato tutto per provare a vincere. Fisicamente ero al limite e così a due giri dalla fine ho voluto evitare di fare lo stesso errore. Sono davvero contento di essere sul podio con questo risultato. Adesso andiamo in Italia per alcuni test durante tutta la settimana e poi faremo due settimane di pausa per arrivare preparati per la sabbia di Assen.”
PODIO PILOTI MX2
Max Anstie:“E’ stato un GP fantastico ed è stato molto bello conquistare la mia seconda vittoria generale. Nelle ultime tre settimane abbiamo gareggiato in tre piste completamente diverse tra loro, e secondo me è questo che crea un vero Campionato del Mondo. Qui in Svizzera abbiamo battagliato alla grande con Jeremy in entrambe le manches. Nella prima sono andato subito in testa e sono riuscito ad allungare e a vincere. Nella seconda gara è stato praticamente una battaglia continua fino alla fine tra me e Jeremy che ha spinto davvero al massimo di fronte al suo pubblico di casa, ed è stato bellissimo vincere di nuovo. Sono anche contento di essere risalito al quarto posto in Campionato. Il mio piano ora è di affrontare le gare una ad una e di raccogliere più punti possibili prima della fine del Campionato.”
Jeremy Seewer: “Non mi aspettavo che il pubblico Svizzero fosse così eccezionale.. così tante persone, bandiere… è stato fantastico correre qui. Non ho vinto, che sarebbe stato un piccolo regalo per loro e per me, ma sono contento.. e ora ho fatto tre secondi posti di fila. Devo solo trovare l’ultimo pezzo del mio puzzle.. Forse nella seconda manche avrei dovuto aspettare di più per passare in testa.. ma in alcuni punti facevo delle linee migliori e riuscivo a spingere ma Anstie mi ha ripreso e seguito strenuamente. È stata una bella gara e mi manca solo quel qualcosa in più per riuscire a vincere. Ora mi sto concentrando solo su me stesso, e questo è lo stesso approccio che ho usato negli ultimi tre GP da quando non c’è Jeffrey. Sto sempre cercando di fare del mio meglio e di battere i piloti che sono in pista con me. Il campionato non era nei miei pensieri questo weekend e non lo sarà neanche nel prossimo GP.”
Benoit Paturel: “Questo risultato lo dedico a mia mamma. Ti voglio così tanto bene e sono orgoglioso di essere qui sul podio per te.”
COMMENTI ALTRI PILOTI
Brian Hsu: “Giornata difficile.. io sono un pilota molto tecnico e mi sentivo bene su questa pista, mi sono divertito a girarci e ho anche segnato dei buoni tempi, ma c’era qualcosa che mi ha bloccato dal riuscire davvero a correre per le prime posizioni. Abbiamo lavorato tanto sulla moto questa stagione, da quando ho potuto rientrare dall’infortunio. Oggi non è stato facile per il mio polso.. ma mi manca ancora il feeling che mi serve per spingere davvero. Vedremo se riuscirò a sentirmi meglio per Assen.”
Bas Vaessen: “Il weekend sarebbe potuto andare un pò meglio se non avessi sbagliato la partenza nella prima manche, ma poi ho rimediato a quell’errore nella seconda gara. Sono molto entusiasta della mia stagione, in effetti è la prima volta che riesco a fare tutto un anno di Campionato Europeo e per me è stato speciale. Ora attendiamo con impazienza i prossimi GP.
Brent Van doninck: “Ero così stanco fisicamente e avrò bisogno di più tempo per tornare al 100% dopo la mia operazione. È dura.. e bisogna essere molto bravi per correre qui. Spero di stare meglio ad Assen, e nelle prossime settimane potrò allenarmi per essere pronto. Questo è il prossimo obbiettivo per me e per il mio team.”
Alvin Östlund: “Le condizioni della pista di oggi si trovano solo in gara e questo mi rende le cose difficili. Il prossimo passo che devo fare è di allenarmi per cercare di essere veloce nei canali come quelli di oggi, e sono grato al mio team per avermi aiutato a farlo. Vado direttamente a casa in Svezia e continuo ad allenarmi per una settimana, poi tornerò in Olanda in preparazione per Assen.”
Valentin Guillod: “L’atmosfera di casa è davvero bella. Correre per i tifosi Svizzeri è davvero forte. Sono orgoglioso della mia prima gara, un quinto posto qui è davvero stupendo. Nella seconda gara sono caduto davvero forte e non sono più riuscito a tornare in gara e sono deluso di questo. Possiamo riprovarci tra tre settimane ad Assen.”
Kevin Strijbos: “Non posso dire di essere molto contento di oggi.. nella prima manche ho fatto una partenza discreta e ho guadagnato quattro posizioni nel primo giro ma poi ho fatto un errore in un canale profondo e sono caduto. Sono dovuto tornare ai box perché il mio freno anteriore si era spostato e non riuscivo ad arrivarci. Il team ha risolto il problema e ho provato a impegnarmi a testa bassa quando sono rientrato in pista. Ero anche abbastanza contento di come stavo guidando e dei miei tempi, ma non del risultato. Nella seconda manche mi sentivo bene ma ho fatto un paio di piccoli errori e ho perso alcune posizioni. Dopodichè la mia gara non si è evoluta molto.. facevo delle buone linee ma faticavo nei tre salti prima della sezione di waves.. ho provato a tirare un doppio un paio di volte e sono quasi caduto. Il nono posto non è quello che volevamo dopo Lommel.. ma verso la fine ero abbastanza stanco perché nella prima manche avevo faticato molto per prendere qualche punto. Ora abbiamo qualche gara del Campionato Belga e poi diretti ad Assen. Sarà ottimo fare ancora qualche gara durante questa pausa nel calendario ed è anche bello che alcune sono in Belgio dato che non abbiamo più molti eventi e piste.”
Arminas Jasikonis: “Sono davvero deluso di oggi. Non mi sentivo a mio agio con la pista, ho fatto troppi errori e mi mancava anche la condizione fisica. Nella prima manche sono caduto due volte, e dopo la seconda caduta, la più grossa, ho perso il freno posteriore e ho dovuto fermarmi. È una cosa che non mi piace proprio fare perché non sono il tipo che si ferma per un piccolo problema. Nella seconda manche ho faticato in partenza e ho lottato per rimontare ma poi mi sono stancato un po’.. mi sono agganciato in un canale con un doppiato e siamo caduti insieme. È dura da accettare. Ora devo continuare a lavorare per le prossime gare, e soprattutto sulle mie partenze!”
Thomas Covington: “Sentivo di avere la velocità per salire sul podio questo weekend. Sfortunatamente non ci sono riuscito a causa di due partenze così così e di qualche piccola caduta. Nella prima manche sono saltato male fuori dal cancelletto ma ho fatto delle buone traiettorie nelle prime due curve e mi sono portato in settima posizione. Ho fatto un po’ di bei sorpassi e stavo addirittura lottando per la quarta posizione quando una caduta mi ha fatto retrocedere di nuovo in settima posizione. Nella seconda gara ho fatto una partenza pessima e ho dovuto lottare dal fondo del gruppo. Ho rimontato dall’ultimo posto fino al settimo ma poi un altro piccolo errore e mi sono dovuto accontentare del decimo posto. Nel complesso è stato bello vedere che ho la velocità per salire sul podio e per la prossima gara spero solo in un po’ di fortuna.”
Conrad Mewse: “C’è qualche lato positivo da considerare da questo GP. Il weekend è cominciato con il mio holeshot e poi sono stato in testa alla gara di qualifica per alcuni giri. Sfortunatamente poi ho avuto un problema con il freno posteriore e ho dovuto fermarmi ai box. Non aver ottenuto una buona posizione di partenza mi ha reso la vita difficile per le gare della domenica. In entrambe le manche ho dovuto lottare dalle retrovie. Nella prima manche ho finito 13esimo. Non è stata una brutta gara ma verso la fine mi sono stancato un po’. Mi sono sentito molto meglio nella seconda manche. Ho continuato a combattere fino alla fine chiudendo la gara in ottava posizione e undicesimo assoluto del GP. Se le mie partenze fossero state migliori credo che avrei potuto conquistare una posizione dei primi cinque. Continuiamo a fare progressi nella giusta direzione e speriamo di riuscire a lottare di nuovo per le prime posizioni ad Assen.”
Max Nagl: “E’ stato un weekend difficile per me. Durante la gara di qualifica del sabato mi sono fatto male al dito medio della mano sinistra e dopo era quasi impossibile guidare. Per le gare di domenica ho dovuto bendare le mie due dita insieme ma non riuscivo ad avere una buona sensibilità con la frizione. Ho fatto del mio meglio in entrambe le manche e sono contento di essere riuscito a recuperare un po’ di punti per il campionato. Il mio programma è di lasciar riposare la mia mano per essere pronto a dare il 100% tra tre settimane ad Assen.”
Tommy Searle: “Sesto assoluto oggi in Svizzera, mi sono piaciute sia la pista che le gare ed è stato il mio miglior weekend dell’anno. Due partenze discrete mi hanno reso la vita più facile.. nella seconda manche eravamo molto ravvicinati ed ero solo ad un paio di secondi dalla terza posizione ma non riuscivo proprio a sorpassare.. e poi ho anche fatto un errore. Ringrazio il team per aver lavorato così duramente nelle scorse settimane. Sento di essere forte al momento, niente va male e il team è davvero concentrato su di me per fare dei miglioramenti.”
Jordi Tixier: “Sono un pò demoralizzato dal risultato finale, avevo un ottimo feeling su questa pista questo weekend e ho fatto dei bei risultati nella sessione di prove, ma ho fatto fatica con le partenze e sappiamo tutti che è impossibile fare un buon risultato senza una buona partenza. Ogni volta ero tra il decimo e il quindicesimo.. dobbiamo lavorare con il team per trovare le soluzioni perché manca un pezzo del puzzle al momento per ottenere risultati nei primi 5. Nelle gare ho fatto dei buoni tempi sul giro, nella prima gara ho segnato il secondo miglior tempo, e adesso che non ho più dolore e problemi al mio polso rimango fiducioso per il resto della stagione. È stato un grande evento con tanti tifosi, un ottima promozione per il nostro sport.”
Clement Desalle: “Sabato ho fatto una buona gara di qualifica. Sono stato in testa per alcuni giri ma poi Cairoli e Gajser mi hanno superato, ma il terzo posto andava bene per la scelta del cancelletto. Le mie partenze oggi sono state mediocri, ma nella prima gara sono riuscito a rimontare fino al terzo posto, e non molto lontano dalla seconda posizione. È stata una bella gara e sapevo che potevo puntare al podio, ma poco dopo la seconda partenza un altro pilota è scivolato in una curva e ha urtato la mia ruota anteriore.. e così sono caduto e non ho potuto recuperare subito la moto perché era successo in punto fuori dalla visuale degli altri piloti ed era pericoloso. Ho perso tanto tempo e ho perso il mio ritmo, e poi ho recuperato dal 27esimo al 17esimo posto quando un altro pilota di nuovo ha colpito la mia ruota anteriore e così in questa gara ho potuto solo racimolare qualche punto.”
Gautier Paulin: “Nella prima gara mi sentivo davvero carico e sono riuscito a fare l’holeshot, ma poi sono andato un pò largo e Cairoli mi ha subito ripassato. Dopo c’è stata una bella battaglia con Febvre, ho fatto un piccolo errore e mi ha superato ma poi è toccato a lui e l’ho ripassato andando in seconda posizione il che era buono. Nella seconda gara non sono riuscito ad arrivare all’interno della curva perché il centro della pista era profondo e bagnato e mi ha rallentato in partenza. Ero molto indietro ma ho spinto forte per risalire fino al settimo posto, che oggi sarebbe bastato per salire sul podio, ma poi ho fatto una piccola caduta mentre ero in piedi in un canale e Tixier mi ha colpito e così ho perso un po’ di posizioni. Senza la caduta avremmo potuto essere sul podio oggi e mi spiace per questo, ma sicuramente oggi avevo il passo per il podio.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “Questo weekend è stato davvero un pò difficile. La pista sembrava bellissima e quando l’ho vista venerdì ho pensato che mi si addiceva con quelle curve veloci e scorrevole come piace a me. Ma in effetti poi c’erano così tanti canali in gara, ed erano così profondi che non era più tanto il mio tipo di pista. Una volta che arrivavi in curva ed entravi in un canale era difficile cambiare linea e così quando eri dietro a qualcuno era difficile trovare il momento per sorpassare. È per questo che ho fatto fatica a rimontare quando sono caduto mentre ero in quinta posizione in gara1. La seconda gara invece è andata molto meglio dato che sono rimasto in quinta posizione per tutta la manche, fino a quando verso la fine Cairoli ha fatto un errore e sono passato quarto. Quindi sono più contento dopo la seconda gara di come ero prima questo pomeriggio, anche se oggi avremmo potuto ottenere di più. Ora abbiamo un po’ di pausa dopo queste ultime tre gare di fila così possiamo ricaricarci ed essere pronti per le tre gare finali della stagione.”
Glenn Coldenhoff: “Questo weekend ho avuto un buon feeling con la pista e una buona velocità, ma eravamo tutti molto vicini e quando parti male come sono partito in gara1 è difficile recuperare e rimontare. Ho spinto forte ma sono riuscito solo a finire 11esimo ed ero deluso di non essere nei primi dieci. Nella seconda gara ho fatto una buona partenza e ho corso tutta la manche con i piloti di testa. Abbiamo desiderato tanto questi risultati ed è stato bello. Ad Assen voglio fare un buon risultato perché è stato il mio obbiettivo per tanto tempo.. Abbiamo anche fatto un passo in avanti con la moto nell’ultimo paio di settimane e tutto funziona davvero bene, specialemente su una pista tecnica come questa. Sono davvero contento della moto in questo momento e non vedo l’ora di Assen.”

Switzerland – Rider Comments
Antonio Cairoli: “Everything went well this weekend, we have moved again on the 450 and switching bike its not so easy but my goal it’s to choose what bike use for next year so thats why we are making so many test and changes. I have to say that I’m happy today, because the speed is there now and that’s really important. In the first moto I’ve pulled away a little bit and I was in control on a nice track that was very technical with some deep ruts. In the second moto I took again a good start, trying to pull away again but it was not possible because Tim was really fast. He went close to me and he passed me, then I’ve tried to follow him but my fitness is not yet at he top, so I couldn’t hold for so long the rhythm and I did some mistake. Then Romain passed me but it was not a problem for the final victory, so I rode very conservative and carefully, to secure the Grand Prix victory but in the last lap I had some troubles with a lapped rider and I made a small crash that costed me two positions and I was very disappointed. Anyway we get the overall on this beautiful venue, in front of this fantastic public and thats the most important. Now we have some time off, to make some testing before Assen and we will be ready to make a good race in the sand.”
Max Anstie: “It was an awesome GP and it felt really nice to get my second overall victory. During the last three weeks we’ve raced in three completely different tracks and to me that makes for a real world championship. We had a great battle with Jeremy in both motos here in Switzerland. In the opening moto I got the lead early on and managed to open a small gap for the win. In the second race it was just me and Jeremy battling it out all the way to the finish. He pushed extra hard in front of his home crowd, so it was great I ended up getting another moto win. Climbing to fourth in the series standings is also good. My plan is to take each of the remaining races separately to collect as many points as I can before the finish of the series.”
Tim Gajser: “In the first moto I took a good start and was right there with Cairoli and Paulin and preparing my pass for the lead, but then I closed the front in a rut and went down. It was hard without everyone coming past me so I had to wait for almost everyone to pass before I could pick the bike up again. Fortunately it was still running so I could get going easily, and then I was pushing really hard. It’s difficult to pass here because of the nature of the track and the long ruts. We could see that the speed was there, but I wasn’t happy with ninth. The second race was much better as I took the holeshot, but then went too much to the outside so Cairoli came past me. When I made the pass Toni was pushing me hard, and then Febvre was too, so we had some good racing. I’m really glad to be on the podium, especially after the mistake in the first race. Now there are three races left this season, and we still have a good lead. Honestly we don’t change anything because the best way to keep doing what we are is to continue as we have been all season, but yes we do start to think a little bit more about the championship now…!”
Romain Febvre: “The first moto was good, but I made a mistake and lost positions and lost my rhythym here on this track. In the second moto the start wasn’t as good, but I came back after the second lap and gave everything to try and win. Physically I was on the limit, so with two laps to go I didn’t want to make the same mistake. I’m really happy to be on the podium with this result. Next we go for some testing in Italy all week, and then two weeks off to be prepared for the sand in Assen.”
Jeremy Seewer: “I didn’t expect the Swiss public to be that great: so many people, flags…it was amazing to ride here. I didn’t win, which would have been the small present to them and myself but I’m happy and I have three second places in a row now. I just need to find that last piece of the puzzle. Maybe I should have waited longer to take the lead in the second moto but I had some better lines in some places and could push but he [Anstie] came back and followed me strongly. It was a good race and I just missed that ‘little bit’ to be able to win. Now I’m just focussing on myself and that approach has been the same for the last three GPs when Jeffrey has not been riding. I am still trying to do the best I can and beat the riders that are on the track with me. It [the championship] was not on my mind this weekend and it won’t be for the next GP.”
Benoit Paturel: “This is for my mom. I love you so much, and I’m proud to be here on the podium for you.”
Brian Hsu: “A difficult day. I’m a very technical rider and I had a good feeling on this track. I enjoyed riding it and set some nice times but there was something blocking me from really going for those top positions. We have been working with the bike a lot this season and since I could come back from the injury. Today wasn’t easy for my wrist but I’m still missing the feeling I need to really push. We’ll see if we can feel better for Assen.”
Bas Vaessen: “This weekend could have gone a bit better but I messed up my start in the first moto. I made up for the mistake in the second race. I’m really pumped about my season; it was the first time I actually got a full European Championship year together and it has been special for me. Now we have some GPs to look forward to.”
Brent Van doninck: “Physically I was so tired, and to be 100 per cent again I will need more time since my surgery. It’s hard, and you need to be so good to be here. I hope to be better in Assen, and for the next three weeks I can train to get ready. For the team and for myself this is our next goal.”
Alvin Östlund: “The conditions today are only found in racing, and this makes it difficult for me. To find speed in training for ruts and lines like today is the next level for me, and I’m grateful for the team to help me find it. I go straight home to Sweden and keep training and then after a week back to Holland in preparation for Assen.”
Valentin Guillod: “The atmosphere at home is really cool. To ride for the Swiss fans is really great. I’m proud of my first race, and fifth place is really terrific here. In the second race I crashed really hard and couldn’t do anything about so I’m disappointed about that. In three weeks in Assen we can come back stronger.”
Kevin Strijbos: “I cannot say I feel too great about today. In the first moto I had a decent start and worked my way up four positions on the first lap but then I made a mistake in a deep rut and I crashed. I had to pit because my front brake was out of position and I could not reach it. The team fixed the problem and I tried to put my head down when I got back on track. I was reasonably happy with the riding and the lap-times, if not the result. Second moto; I was feeling OK but made a couple of small mistakes and lost some positions. After that the race didn’t really turn into much. I had some good lines but I struggled on the three jumps before the wave section; I tried doubling them once and almost lost it. Ninth was not the result we were looking for after Lommel but I was pretty tired by the end and had put a lot into the first moto to get some points. Now we have some Belgian Championship races and then straight to Assen. It will be good to have some more races in this break in the calendar and it is also good to do some in Belgium because we don’t have that many events or tracks anymore.”
Arminas Jasikonis: “I’m really disappointed about today. I didn’t feel good on the track, made too many mistakes and my physical condition was also lacking. I had two crashes in the first moto and after the second – bigger – one I lost the rear brake and had to stop; it’s something I really don’t like to do because I’m not the type of guy who stops for a little problem. In the second moto I struggled with my start and I was fighting to come through but then felt a bit tired. I came into one rut with a lapper and we crashed together. It is hard to accept. I have to keep working now for the next races and especially on my starts!”
Thomas Covington: “I felt the speed was there for me to get on the podium this weekend. Unfortunately, two not so good starts and a few small crashes held me back from that goal. I got a bad jump out of the gate in moto one, but got some good lines in the first two corners to place myself in seventh. I made a few good passes and was even battling for fourth but a crash dropped me to seventh again. In the second race I got a terrible start and had to battle from the back of the pack. I worked my way from completely last to seventh but then another small mistake meant I had to settle for 10th. Overall, it was good to see I have the speed for the podium. I’m just hoping for some better luck next time out.”
Conrad Mewse: “There were some positives to take out from this GP. The weekend started with me getting the holeshot and then leading the qualifying race for the first few laps. Unfortunately, I had an issue with the back brake and had to make a pit stop. Not getting a good starting position made my life more difficult for Sunday’s races. In both motos I had to battle from the back of the pack. In moto one I finished 13th. It wasn’t a bad race but I got a bit tired towards the end. I felt a lot better in moto two. I kept fighting to end up eighth for 11th overall at this GP. If my starts were better I believe I could have easily earned a place inside the top five. We continue making steps in the right direction and hopefully I can battle for the top again in Assen.”
Max Nagl: “It was a difficult weekend for me. I hurt the middle finger on my left hand during Saturday’s qualifying race and it was almost impossible to ride afterwards. For Sunday’s motos I had to tape my two fingers together but I couldn’t get a good feeling with the clutch. I did my best in both motos and I’m happy I managed to salvage a few more points for the championship. My plan is to give my hand some time to rest now, in order to be ready to give 100% again in three weeks time in Assen.”
Tommy Searle: “Sixth overall today in Switzerland and I enjoyed the track and the races, for my best weekend of the year. A couple of decent starts made life easier; it was close in the second moto and I was just a couple of seconds away from third place but I just couldn’t make the passes I needed, and also did a mistake. Thanks to the team for working so hard these last few weeks. I feel I’m strong at the moment, nothing goes wrong and the team is really focus on me so we can do some improvements.”
Jordi Tixier: “I’m a little bit frustrated by the final result, as I had a great feeling with this track this weekend and posted some good results in the practice session, but I struggled at the starts and we all know that it’s impossible to get a good result without a good start. I was between tenth and fifteenth each time; we need to work with the team to find solutions as it’s the part of the puzzle that is missing at the moment to get top five results. I had good lap times in the races; I posted the second fastest lap in the first race, and as I have no more pain or troubles with my wrist I remain confident for the rest of the season. It was a great event with many fans, a good promotion for our sport.”
Clement Desalle: “I had a good qualifying race on Saturday; I was leading for a few laps and then Cairoli and Gajser passed me but third was ok for the gate pick. Today my starts were average, but in the first race I was able to come back to third, not so far from second place. It was a good race and I knew that the podium was possible, but soon after the second start another rider slid out in a corner and hit my front wheel. I crashed, and was unable to take my bike straight away after as it happened at an unsighted place for the other riders and it was dangerous. I lost a lot of time, I lost my rhythm, but I was back from twenty-seventh to seventeenth when another rider again hit my front wheel so I could only salvage a few points in this race.”
Gautier Paulin: “In the first race I was feeling really strong and I could take the holeshot, although I ran wide a little and Cairoli could come back past me. After that I had a good battle with Febvre. I made a little mistake and he passed me, but then shortly after it was his turn and I repassed him to take second which was good. In the second race I couldn’t get to the inside of turn one because from the middle of the track it was deep and wet so it slowed my start. I was far back but I pushed hard to climb to seventh, which would have been good enough for a podium today, but I had a small crash when standing up in a rut and Tixier hit me, so I lost some positions. Without the crash we could have been on the podium today so I feel bad for that, but the podium pace was definitely there today.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “This weekend was a bit tough really. Into the weekend the track looked great, and when I saw it on Friday I thought it would really suit me with good fast corners and some flow that I like. But actually there were so many ruts by the race and they were so deep that it wasn’t so much my track. Once you were in a rut in a corner it was difficult to change line so when you were behind someone it was hard to find time and to make passes. This is why when I crashed from fifth in race one I found it hard to come back through the field. The second race was much better though as I stayed fifth for the whole moto, until the end when I got fourth as Cairoli made a mistake. So I’m happier after the second race today than I was earlier this afternoon, even though we could have had more today. Now we have a little break after the last three back-to-back races so we can recharge and be ready for the final three races of the season.”
Glenn Coldenhoff: “The feeling and the speed were both good over the weekend but everyone was very close and when you take a bad start like in the first moto, its difficult to come back and through the pack. I pushed hard but I only managed 11th and I was disappointed not to be in the top ten. I pulled a good start in the second race and I rode all the moto with the riders up front. We’ve been looking for these results, so it was good. I want a good result in Assen because that’s been my goal for a long time. We’ve also made a step up with the bike over the last couple of weeks and everything is working really well, especially on a technical track like this. I’m really happy with the bike at the moment and I can’t wait for Assen.”
