Savatgy Takes 4th, Tonus Recovering in Daytona
Corona, Calif. (March 9, 2015) – Under the lights of the legendary Daytona International Speedway, the infield was transformed to host Monster Energy Supercross on Saturday. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy battled forward after the mid-pack start to finish just shy of the podium in fourth place for the second consecutive weekend.

Podium Near Miss
Savatgy was quick to adapt to Daytona’s outdoor-style track. In qualifying, he was the third quickest and with a third in his heat race, Savatgy was set to go for the podium in the main event. When the gates dropped, Joey was mid-pack after the first corner, but he made some quick moves in the opening laps and then methodically reeled in riders to cross the finish line in 4th.
“The positive is I was able to move forward the whole race,” said Savatgy. “But I really need to get a start. I’m making it hard on myself and it’s frustrating because I know I can run with the leaders and be on the podium. On to next week.”
