MONACO (Principato di Monaco) 10 aprile 2024 – Il Campionato Mondiale Motocross MXGP 2024 si svolge per la prima volta in fine settimana consecutivi mentre le squadre e gli equipaggi si dirigono direttamente dall’isola della Sardegna per il quarto round sul bellissimo circuito “Il Ciclamino” a Pietramurata tra le città di Arco e Trento nel nord Italia per l’ MXGP del Trentino il 13 e 14 aprile!
Con una posizione straordinaria ai piedi delle montagne del Garda e l’entusiasmo maniacale sia dei fan italiani che di quelli sloveni in viaggio, non c’è dubbio che questa sede sia uno dei gioielli della corona della MXGP. Nella sua storia si sono svolti 19 GP dal primo, nel 1987, una gara della 125cc vinta dall’eroe italiano Massimo Contini su una Cagiva italiana. Il circuito ha ospitato più Gran Premi negli ultimi dieci anni rispetto a qualsiasi altro, essendo stato in programma ogni anno dal 2013 e organizzando sei eventi nei due anni colpiti dalla pandemia COVID.
Tre dei principali contendenti alla gloria della MXGP quest’anno hanno avuto un grande successo in questa arena, mentre solo un pilota nell’attuale formazione MX2 può vantare di aver vinto in Trentino. Con una folla incredibile e un’atmosfera elettrizzante, è nella lista dei desideri di ogni fan della MXGP, quindi speriamo sicuramente che tu possa sintonizzarti, o meglio ancora unirti a noi di persona per un memorabile fine settimana di azione di corsa!
Il campionato EMX125 presentato da FMF si unisce alle classi principali nel viaggio dalla Sardegna, con il potenziale ungherese Noel Zanocz che cerca di difendere la sua leadership in campionato per il Fantic Factory Racing EMX125, mentre il vincitore della prima gara Gyan Doensen spera di recuperare una caduta. quarto posto per Racestore KTM Factory Rookies in gara due.
A loro si unisce la serie EMX250 per il secondo round, mentre la stella nascente romana Valerio Lata cerca di difendere il suo stretto vantaggio in campionato, dove ha vinto l’anno scorso, in casa per Beddini GASGAS Factory Juniors contro la Kawasaki BUD Racing di Mathis Valin e il branco di inseguitori!

Un altro fine settimana perfetto per il campione del mondo MXGP in carica della Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, Jorge Prado, in Sardegna, lo ha visto estendere il suo vantaggio in serie a 17 punti, e l’unica consolazione per i suoi principali avversari è che sono riusciti a finire direttamente dietro di lui per tutto quel fine settimana. Tim Gajser del Team HRC ha perso una quantità minima di punti per mantenere il detentore della tabella rossa nel suo mirino, e Jeffrey Herlings è salito al terzo posto nella classifica per la Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, anche se 49 punti dietro Prado.
Tutti e tre hanno ottimi record in Trentino. Gajser e Herlings hanno vinto ciascuno 10 gare individuali e 5 Gran Premi complessivi, e la vittoria di entrambi li vedrà stabilire il record di vittorie nei GP sul circuito, poiché sono entrambi allo stesso livello della leggenda italiana Antonio Cairoli così com’è. “The Bullet” ha vinto la MX2 nel 2013, ’14 e ’16, oltre alla classe MXGP sia nel 2018 che nel primo dei tre GP nel 2021. Gajser ha vinto nel suo unico titolo MX2 nel 2015, poi ha vinto la MXGP nel 2019 , due nel 2020, e l’ultimo GP che ha disputato qui nel 2022. Il pilota della Honda di solito gode di un enorme sostegno dal suo paese d’origine, poiché il circuito si trova a circa 300 km dal confine sloveno. Dopo essere stato eliminato all’inizio della stagione 2023 a causa degli infortuni dovuti a un grave incidente su questa pista, anche i suoi fan torneranno per cercare di spingerlo verso ulteriori successi.
Tuttavia, se Prado continua la sua attuale serie di successi in ogni GP quest’anno, si unirà a tutti anche con 5 vittorie, dopo aver vinto il suo quarto GP in quella sede la scorsa stagione, il suo primo in MXGP dopo le vittorie consecutive in MX2 nel 2017, ’18 e ’19. Lo spagnolo ha vinto 5 gare individuali su questo circuito, anche se nel 2023 ha vissuto la sua peggiore gara di qualificazione dell’anno, finendo al 10° posto dopo una rara partenza sbagliata e un incidente ancora più raro. Ha risolto il problema con 1-3 arrivi per la vittoria del GP, anche se Herlings ha preso gara due con una carica straordinaria per rivendicare il 3° posto assoluto dopo un 9° posto in gara uno, dietro Maxime Renaux di Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP che è andato 2-2 per il 2° posto assoluto.
Il vincitore della Qualifying Race fu Romain Febvre del Kawasaki Racing Team, ma il suo sabato da sogno era stato seguito da una domenica da incubo con un incidente alla prima curva in gara uno e una seconda gara stabile per finire 12-4 per il 7° posto assoluto. Il francese ha vinto gare qui nel 2016, 2020 e 2021, ma mai meglio del 2° posto assoluto, ottenuto nel 2016 e nell’ultima gara nel 2020. È stato anche terzo tre volte in Trentino.
Un pilota con un ottimo record sul circuito, anche se nelle classi Youth ed EMX, è Mattia Guadagnini. È un pilota locale, a poco più di un’ora di macchina dalla sua città natale, non è chiaro se Mattia farà o meno il suo debutto con il Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, ma è nella lista degli iscritti e i tifosi di casa sperano che possa unirsi all’MRT Racing Team. Il pilota ufficiale Beta Ivo Monticelli, poiché l’anconetano è l’unico italiano ad aver ottenuto punti nella classe finora in questa stagione. Ivo attualmente è 15° nella serie.
Pauls Jonass è a soli 10 punti da Febvre al 5° posto, e il pilota della Standing Construct Honda cercherà di basarsi su questo in un luogo in cui ha visto l’ultima volta il podio nel suo anno dal titolo del 2017 in MX2, quando ha condiviso le vittorie in gara con Prado. Jeremy Seewer ha vinto un GP in Trentino, l’MXGP del Garda Trentino, il terzo round qui nel 2021, e il suo apprendimento con il Kawasaki Racing Team continuerà visto che si trova al 6° posto nella corsa a punti. L’unico altro ex vincitore del GP qui che si schiera nella MXGP è Ben Watson, che ha vinto il round finale nel 2020 e cerca di sollevare il suo MRT Racing Team Beta dal 12° posto in classifica.
Tutti gli occhi saranno puntati su quella battaglia al comando, tuttavia, poiché la grande domanda in questo momento è “Chi può fermare Jorge Prado?”, E i due cinque volte campioni del mondo della classe alzeranno la mano!
La classe MX2 ha offerto gare brillanti già quest’anno, ma finora il gradino più alto è stato costantemente occupato dal leader del team Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, Kay de Wolf. L’adolescente olandese è riuscito a vincere ogni GP in questa stagione, ma ci sono state vittorie anche per altri tre piloti. Simon Laengenfelder, che è 2° nella corsa a punti per la Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, ha vinto la gara di apertura in Argentina, il campione del mondo MX2 in carica Andrea Adamo ha vinto gara due in Spagna per la Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, e il compagno di squadra ancora più giovane di De Wolf, Lucas Coenen ha vinto la prima gara di qualificazione RAM dell’anno, nonché la prima gara del GP in Sardegna. Anche se l’olandese ha un vantaggio di 29 punti in vista del Trentino, sa che i suoi inseguitori guarderanno i circuiti duri a venire e apprezzeranno le loro possibilità.
Il detentore della tabella rossa ha registrato un costante 5-4 a Pietramurata la scorsa stagione, ma è in forma in pista avendo ottenuto un bel 2° posto assoluto nel 2022. Il suo principale sfidante quest’anno, Laengenfelder, ha vinto sia la RAM Qualifying Race che la seconda gara del GP, anche se un modesto nono posto in gara uno lo ha tenuto fuori dal podio assoluto. Lucas Coenen non ha avuto le migliori giornate qui l’anno scorso, ma è andato 1-1 nella classe EMX125 in uno dei round del 2021, e sarà stato entusiasta della sua velocità in Sardegna.
Sarà l’eroe di casa Adamo a cercare di ripetere la vittoria della scorsa stagione, la prima della sua carriera, e ora torna da campione del mondo e la principale fonte di speranza per una vittoria casalinga agli occhi dei suoi tifosi di casa . Non c’è dubbio che la velocità ci sia e con un distacco di 70 punti dal leader dopo soli tre GP, non c’è dubbio anche che abbia assolutamente bisogno di salire ancora una volta quel gradino più alto. Può stare certo di essere l’unico pilota schierato nella MX2 ad aver vinto un GP assoluto in Trentino.
Liam Everts ha completato un 1-2 per la Red Bull KTM Factory Racing qui nel 2023, e si trova a pari punti con l’altro compagno di squadra Sacha Coenen dopo essere rimasto fuori dal primo round per un infortunio al pollice. Il sesto nella corsa a punti è Mikkel Haarup, che ha ottenuto uno dei suoi 6 podi in carriera sul circuito nel 2022. Il suo compagno di squadra del Monster Energy Triumph Racing, Camden McLellan, siede direttamente dietro di lui in classifica, un solo punto indietro, dopo il sua primo podio in carriera nel GP della Sardegna.
Oltre al loro campione Adamo, i tifosi locali cercheranno di sostenere il pilota Monster Energy Yamaha MX2 Andrea Bonacorsi, che ha vinto una gara in Trentino nella divisione EMX250 lo scorso anno, e ha avuto un inizio costante nel suo anno da rookie in MX2. Ferruccio Zanchi sarà nuovamente messo da parte per il Team HRC dopo aver saltato la Sardegna a causa di un incidente nelle prove libere di metà settimana.
Come per la classe MXGP, il gruppo spera di intaccare il record del leader di vittorie in ogni GP finora, e questo dovrebbe tradursi in un fantastico fine settimana di azione a tutto campo!

BACK TO THE MAINLAND WITH A QUICK TURNAROUND FOR THE MXGP OF TRENTINO
MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 10 April 2024 – The 2024 MXGP World Motocross Championship runs in consecutive weekends for the first time as the teams and crews head directly from the island of Sardegna to round four at the beautiful “Il Ciclamino” circuit at Pietramurata between the cities of Arco and Trento in northern Italy for the MXGP of Trentino on 13th and 14th of April!
With an amazing location at the foot of the Garda Mountains, and the manic enthusiasm of both the Italian and travelling Slovenian fans, there is no doubt that this venue is one of the jewels in MXGP’s crown. There have been 19 GP events held in its history since the first in 1987, a 125cc contest won by Italian hero Massimo Contini on an Italian Cagiva machine. The circuit has hosted more Grands Prix in the last decade than any other, having been on the schedule every year since 2013, and running six events across the two years affected by the COVID pandemic.
Three of the major contenders for MXGP glory this year have had a great amount of success in this arena, whilst only one rider in the current MX2 line-up can claim to having won in Trentino. With incredible crowds and an electric atmosphere, it is one for any MXGP fan’s bucket list, so we certainly hope you can tune in, or better still join us in person for a memorable weekend of racing action!
The EMX125 Championship Presented by FMF joins the main classes in the journey over from Sardegna, with Hungarian prospect Noel Zanocz looking to defend his Championship lead for Fantic Factory Racing EMX125, while the first race winner Gyan Doensen will hope to make up for a crash-affected fourth for Racestore KTM Factory Rookies in race two.
They are joined by the EMX250 series for their second round, as rising Roman star Valerio Lata looks to defend his narrow Championship lead, where he won last year, on home ground for Beddini GASGAS Factory Juniors against the BUD Racing Kawasaki of Mathis Valin and the chasing pack!
Another perfect weekend for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s reigning MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado in Sardegna saw him extend his series lead to 17 points, and the only consolation for his main opposition is that they were able to finish directly behind him throughout that weekend. Team HRC’s Tim Gajser lost a minimal amount of points to keep the red plate holder within his sights, and Jeffrey Herlings moved up into third in the standings for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, albeit 49 points behind Prado.
All three men have great records at Trentino. Gajser and Herlings have each won 10 individual races, and 5 overall Grands Prix there, and victory for either will see them set the record for GP wins at the circuit, as they are both level with Italian legend Antonio Cairoli as it stands. “The Bullet” won MX2 in 2013, ’14, and ’16, plus the MXGP class in both 2018 and the first of the three GPs in 2021. Gajser won in his sole MX2 title year of 2015, then took MXGP victory in 2019, two in 2020, and the last GP he contested here in 2022. The Honda man usually has a massive swell of support from his home country, as the circuit is around 300km from the Slovenian border. After being knocked out of the early 2023 season with injuries from a big crash at this track, his fans will also return to try and urge him on to more success.
However, if Prado continues his current run of success at each GP so far this year, he will join them all on 5 wins as well, after winning his fourth GP at the venue last season, his first in MXGP after consecutive MX2 victories in 2017, ’18, and ‘19. The Spaniard has won 5 individual races at the track, although he suffered his worst RAM Qualifying Race of the year in 2023, finishing in 10th after a rare poor start and even rarer crash. He rectified that with 1-3 finishes for the GP win, although Herlings took race two with a stunning charge to claim 3rd overall after a 9th in race one, behind Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Maxime Renaux who went 2-2 for 2nd overall.
The RAM Qualifying Race winner was Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre, but his dream Saturday was followed by a nightmare Sunday with a first corner crash in race one and a steady second race to go 12-4 for 7th overall. The Frenchman has won races here in 2016, 2020, and 2021, but never any better than 2ndoverall, which he claimed in 2016 and the final race in 2020. He has also been third three times at Trentino.
One rider with an excellent record at the circuit, albeit in the Youth and EMX classes, is Mattia Guadagnini. Very much a local rider just over an hour’s drive from his home town, it’s unclear whether or not Mattia will make his debut for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, but he is on the Entry List and home fans will be hoping he can join MRT Racing Team Beta factory man Ivo Monticelli, as the man from Ancona is the only Italian to have scored points in the class so far this season. Ivo currently lies 15th in the series.
Pauls Jonass is only 10 points behind Febvre in 5th, and the Standing Construct Honda man will look to build on that at a venue where he last saw the podium in his title year of 2017 in MX2, when he shared the race wins with Prado. Jeremy Seewer has won a GP in Trentino, the MXGP of Garda Trentino, the third round here in 2021, and his learning with Kawasaki Racing Team will continue as he lies 6th in the points chase. The only other former GP winner here who lines up in MXGP is Ben Watson, who won the final round in 2020 and looks to lift his MRT Racing Team Beta up from 12th in the standings.
All eyes will be on that lead battle, however, as the big question right now is “Who can stop Jorge Prado?”, and the two five-time World Champions in the class will be raising their hands!

The MX2 class has provided some brilliant racing already this year, but so far the top step has continually been occupied by Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team leader Kay de Wolf. The Dutch teenager has managed to win each GP this season, but there have also been race wins for three other riders. Simon Laengenfelder, who lies 2nd in the points chase for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, won the opening race back in Argentina, reigning MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo won race two in Spain for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, and De Wolf’s even younger teammate Lucas Coenen won the first RAM Qualifying Race of the year, as well as the first GP race in Sardegna. Even though the Dutchman holds a 29-point lead going to Trentino, he knows that his pursuers will look at the hard-pack circuits to come and like their chances on them.
The red-plate holder recorded a consistent 5-4 scorecard in Pietramurata last season, but he has form at the track as he took a fine 2nd overall in 2022. His main challenger this year, Laengenfelder, won both the RAM Qualifying Race and the second GP race, although a lowly 9th in race one kept him off the overall podium. Lucas Coenen didn’t have the best of days here last year, but he went 1-1 in the EMX125 class at one of the rounds in 2021, and will have been fired up by his speed in Sardegna.
It will be home hero Adamo that will be looking to repeat his victory of last season, which was the first of his career, and he now returns as World Champion and the main source of hope for a home victory in the eyes of his home fans. There is no doubt that the speed is there and with a 70-point gap to the leader after just three GPs, there is also no doubt that he absolutely needs to climb that top step once again. He can take confidence that he is the only rider lining up in MX2 who has won an overall GP in Trentino.
Liam Everts completed a 1-2 for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing here in 2023, and he sits equal on points with his other teammate Sacha Coenen after sitting out the first round with a thumb injury. Sixth in the points chase is Mikkel Haarup, who enjoyed one of his 6 career podium finishes at the circuit back in 2022. His Monster Energy Triumph Racing teammate Camden McLellan sits directly behind him in the table, a single point back, after his first career GP podium in Sardegna.
Beyond their Champion Adamo, local supporters will be looking to get behind Monster Energy Yamaha MX2 rider Andrea Bonacorsi, who won a race at Trentino in the EMX250 division last year, and has had a steady start to his rookie year in MX2. Ferruccio Zanchi will again be sidelined for Team HRC after missing Sardegna due to a mid-week practice crash.
As with the MXGP class, the pack will be hoping to make a dent in the leader’s record of winning every GP so far, and this should result in a fantastic weekend of all-out action!
