NOTIZIE: Roan van de Moosdijk si unisce al Team HRC

Il pilota olandese Roan van de Moosdijk si è unito al Team HRC in sostituzione dell’infortunato Ruben Fernandez. Lo spagnolo si è infortunato al ginocchio in un incidente alla prima curva del MXGP della Patagonia-Argentina e da allora è stato sottoposto a un intervento chirurgico, che lo lascerà in disparte per il prossimo futuro. Pertanto, il Team HRC ha deciso che portare un altro pilota era la decisione giusta e, con v/d Moosdijk disponibile e pronto a correre, l’accordo è stato rapidamente messo in atto in modo che potesse schierarsi al terzo round dell’MXGP 2024. Dopo una stagione 2023 colpita da un infortunio, il v/d Moosdijk è riuscito comunque a finire a 20 punti dal quinto posto nel campionato MX2, inclusi due podi e una vittoria in gara. Ma con la regola dell’età che significa che quest’anno ha dovuto passare alla classe MXGP, e con le corse a premio, il debuttante non è stato in grado di fare il suo debutto nei primi due round del 2024, e ha invece continuato ad allenarsi in la speranza di avere l’opportunità di impressionare in un secondo momento.

Tuttavia, quell’opportunità si è presentata più rapidamente di quanto si aspettasse, con Fernandez che si è infortunato nella prima curva della prima gara di qualificazione dell’anno, e sebbene il #70 abbia provato ad arrivare al traguardo nel suo GP di casa in Spagna un paio di volte settimane dopo, semplicemente non era destino che accadesse. Questo ha aperto le porte al campione EMX250 2019, e sebbene una sola settimana di preparazione su una moto nuova di zecca non sia il modo ideale per fare il tuo debutto nel campionato di motocross più duro del mondo, il talentuoso 23enne- old darà tutto ciò che ha per imporsi ai vertici della classe MXGP.

Il Team HRC ha avuto molto successo nell’individuare e coltivare giovani talenti, con Tim Gajser e Fernandez che hanno entrambi dimostrato che la Honda CRF450R è un’ottima piattaforma per fare quel grande passo avanti rispetto alla classe MX2, e ora è il turno di v/d Moosdijk per fare quel salto, a partire dal 6-7 aprile nelle sabbie profonde di Riola Sardo.

Quando ho sentito parlare di questa opportunità, sapevo che dovevo prenderla con entrambe le mani. La possibilità di correre per il Team HRC non si presenta molto spesso e spero di poter mostrare a tutti di cosa sono capace, in quello che sarà il mio debutto a tempo pieno nella classe MXGP. Certamente non sarà facile mettersi subito al passo con la Honda CRF450R ma vedendo come Tim (Gajser) l’ha guidata bene, so che è una moto molto competitiva e sono entusiasta di iniziare e mettermi a mio agio su di essa. Grazie a tutti coloro che mi hanno supportato, per farmi arrivare a questo momento, e non vedo l’ora di arrivare a Riola e mettermi in fila per il primo gate.

Siamo molto entusiasti di avere Roan con noi per la prossima fase della stagione. Ovviamente data la natura dell’infortunio di Ruben, non esiste un calendario esatto per il suo ritorno, quindi il Team HRC ha deciso che sarebbe stata una buona idea avere un altro pilota come sostituto e quando abbiamo iniziato quelle conversazioni, abbiamo guardato Roan e abbiamo capito subito che sarebbe stato un ottimo pilota per la nostra squadra. Abbiamo dovuto lavorare velocemente perché ci sono molte gare in programma in un breve lasso di tempo, quindi un grande ringraziamento a tutti i nostri sponsor che ci hanno supportato molto nella decisione e a tutti coloro che hanno contribuito a far sì che tutto ciò accadesse così rapidamente. NEWS: Roan van de Moosdijk joins up with Team HRC

Dutch rider Roan van de Moosdijk has joined Team HRC in a replacement deal for the injured Ruben Fernandez. The Spaniard injured his knee in a first-turn incident at the MXGP of Patagonia-Argentina and has since undergone surgery, which will leave him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future. As such, Team HRC decided that bringing in another rider was the right decision, and with v/d Moosdijk available and ready to race, the deal was swiftly put in place so that he could line-up at the third round of the 2024 MXGP World Championship in Riola Sardo, Sardinia.

After an injury-hit 2023 campaign v/d Moosdijk was still able to finish within 20 points of fifth place in the MX2 championship, including two podiums and one race win. But with the age-rule meaning he had to move up to the MXGP class this year, and with rides at a premium, the rookie wasn’t able to make his debut in the first two rounds of 2024, and has instead kept training in the hope of getting an opportunity to impress at a later date.

However, that opportunity has arisen quicker than even he expected, with Fernandez getting injured in the first turn of the first qualification race of the year, and although the #70 did try to make it to the line at his home GP in Spain a couple of weeks later, it just wasn’t meant to be. This has opened the door for the 2019 EMX250 champion, and although the single-week of preparation on a brand-new machine isn’t the ideal way to make your debut in the toughest motocross championship in the world, the talented 23-year-old will give it everything he has to establish himself at the top of the MXGP class.

Team HRC has had a great deal of success spotting and nurturing young talent, with Tim Gajser and Fernandez both showing that the Honda CRF450R is a great platform to make that big step up from the MX2 class, and now it is v/d Moosdijk’s turn to make that leap, starting on April 6-7 in the deep sand of Riola Sardo.

When I heard about this opportunity, I knew I had to take it with both hands. The chance to ride for Team HRC doesn’t come along very often and I am hopeful that I can show everyone what I am capable of, in what will be my full-time debut in the MXGP class. It certainly won’t be easy to get up to speed on the Honda CRF450R straightaway but seeing how well Tim (Gajser) has been riding it, I know that it is a very competitive bike and I’m excited to get started and get comfortable on it. We are very excited to have Roan join us for this next stage of the season. Obviously with the nature of Ruben’s injury, there is no exact timeframe for his return so Team HRC decided that it would be a good idea to have another rider fill-in, and when we started those conversations, we looked at Roan and knew right away that he would be an excellent rider for our team.
