NESTAAN HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING E KAY DE WOLF VINCONO IN SPAGNA

Kay de Wolf continua la sua forma smagliante nella MX2 2024 conquistando due podi e la vittoria assoluta all’MXGP di Spagna.

Il pilota del Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team ha dimostrato il motivo per cui è in cima alla classifica del campionato con 113 punti, dopo aver ottenuto una serie di risultati dominanti all’MXGP di Spagna 2024.

Non solo de Wolf ha ottenuto una vittoria enfatica sabato durante le qualifiche, ma ha poi offerto una prestazione da manuale per vincere la manche di apertura di domenica all’intu Xanadú-Arroyomolinos.

Nella seconda manche, de Wolf è balzato dalle prime posizioni dal quarto nel primo giro, portandosi in testa al quarto giro con una serie di incredibili sorpassi. È stato solo a metà gara che, mentre toccava brevemente Andrea Adamo, il numero 74 è scivolato al secondo posto.

Lucas Coenen, compagno di squadra del Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, ha ottenuto un solido terzo e quarto posto in entrambe le manche, piazzandosi al quarto posto assoluto alla fine del fine settimana. Per sua stessa ammissione, Coenen aveva faticato a far funzionare la sua macchina a suo favore sul profondo terreno spagnolo, tuttavia Coenen ha mostrato un ritmo impressionante mentre lottava con il rivale Simon Längenfelder per tutta la seconda manche. Al traguardo Coenen ha concluso il fine settimana al quarto posto assoluto, salendo al quarto posto anche in campionato.

Il Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross guarda ora avanti a un impegnativo round sulla sabbia, al MXGP della Sardegna a Riola Sardo, il 7 aprile.

#74 – Kay de Wolf: “Ho lavorato davvero duramente per ottenere il risultato questo fine settimana, soprattutto nella seconda manche. Sabato le qualifiche sono andate davvero bene, con una vittoria dominante, ma domenica il ritmo è stato davvero veloce. Sono stato riportato indietro fino al sesto posto, credo all’inizio della prima manche, ma ho solo cercato di mantenere la calma e di tornare in testa. È stato fantastico tornare a vincere consecutive dopo l’Argentina! Poi alla partenza della seconda manche ho dovuto lasciare passare Andrea; era davvero in ottima forma. Negli ultimi giri volevo spingerlo e prenderlo, ma stavo facendo troppi errori. La pista non mi permetteva di essere veloce come avrei voluto! È stata dura ma ce l’abbiamo fatta comunque! Non potrò ringraziare abbastanza la squadra: ho lavorato davvero duramente per questi risultati, quindi è un piacere essere in grado di assicurarmi in cambio i punti del campionato. Non vedo l’ora che arrivi Sardina adesso!”

#96 – Lucas Coenen: “Il fine settimana non è andato proprio come previsto, ma neanche male. Il riscaldamento di sabato è stato buono, ma ho faticato un po’ con il set-up della moto. Poi nella gara di qualificazione sono rimontato dalle retrovie e ho concluso P4. Domenica il warm up è andato benissimo, ma nella prima manche ho faticato con la partenza. Ho fatto del mio meglio e alla fine sono arrivato terzo. Stavo cercando di lottare con Simon (Längenfelder), ma era difficile passare . Nella seconda manche ho sbagliato la partenza, quindi ho provato a risalire il più velocemente possibile. Ho fatto dei buoni giri, ma sono arrivato solo quarto. Ho mancato il podio, cosa di cui sono arrabbiato Ora abbiamo del lavoro da fare prima della Sardegna e poi combatteremo ancora!”

Kay de Wolf continues his blistering form in MX2 2024 by taking two podiums and the overall win at the MXGP of Spain.

The Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team rider proved just why he is sitting at the top of the championship table on 113 points, after taking a dominant set of results at the 2024 MXGP of Spain.

Not only did de Wolf cruise to an emphatic win on Saturday during qualifying, but he then laid on a textbook performance to take victory Sunday’s opening moto at the intu Xanadú-Arroyomolinos.

In the second moto, de Wolf leapfrogged through the top positions from fourth on the opening lap, into the lead on lap four with a series of incredible overtakes. It was only at the mid point of the race that, while briefly tagging wheels with Andrea Adamo, that #74 slipped back to second.

Fellow Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing rider Lucas Coenen locked in solid third and fourth place finishes across both motos, placing him fourth overall at the end of the weekend. By his own admission Coenen had struggled to get his machine working in his favour on the deep rutted Spanish soil, nonetheless Coenen showed impressive pace while battling with rival Simon Längenfelder throughout the second moto. At the final flag Coenen concluded the weekend in fourth overall – bumping himself up into fourth in the championship also.

The FIM World Motocross Championship now looks ahead to a challenging sand round, at MXGP of Sardinia at Riola Sardo, on the 7th of April.

#74 – Kay de Wolf: “I worked really hard for the result this weekend – especially in the second moto. Qualifying went really great on Saturday with a dominant win, but the pace has been really fast on Sunday. I got shuffled back to around sixth I think at the start of the first moto, but just tried to stay calm and work my way back to the front. It felt amazing to get back to back wins after Argentina! Then at the start of the second moto I had to let Andrea by; he was on really good form. In the last few laps I wanted to push and catch him – but I was making way too many mistakes. The track was not allowing me to be as fast as I wanted! It was tough but we made it happen anyway! I can’t thank the team enough – I worked really hard for these results, so it’s a pleasure to be able to secure the championship points in return. I’m looking forward to Sardina now for sure!”

#96 – Lucas Coenen: “The weekend was not quite as planned – but not bad either. Saturday warm up was good, but I struggled with the bike set-up a little. Then in the qualifying race I came from the back and finished P4. On Sunday, the warm up went great, but at the first moto I struggled with the start. I tried my best, and finished third in the end. I was trying to battle Simon (Längenfelder) – but it was difficult to pass. In the second moto, I messed up my start, so then again I tried to come back as fast as possible. I made some good laps, but I only finished fourth. I missed out on the podium – which I’m mad about! Now we have some work to do ahead of Sardinia – and then we will fight again!”
