Awe-inspiring Win from Roczen

Ken Roczen ha guidato dall’inizio alla fine sabato sera. La #94 Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki è entrata nella casa del concorrente del nostro sponsor principale e ha piantato la bandiera della Progressive Insurance proprio nel cuore dello State Farm Stadium. Ken Roczen ha condotto ogni giro in pista a bordo della sua Suzuki RM-Z450, tagliando il traguardo nell’evento principale con un vantaggio di 4.781 secondi sul secondo posto. “Non ho vinto molto negli ultimi anni, quindi apprezzo moltissimo questi momenti… La mia partenza è stata davvero buona. Ho fatto un salto super bello. Ho preso così tante micro-decisioni in pista in alcune aree che ho selezionato; mentre correvo alcuni dei primi giri ho notato alcuni punti chiave che sono davvero difficili e possono davvero morderti. Quindi ho gestito la gara fino in fondo… ho cercato di non guardare l’ora, ho semplicemente cliccato sui miei giri, giro dopo giro. Shane McElrath, #12 Twisted Tea HEP Suzuki, potrebbe averti fatto grattare la testa mentre insolitamente ha concluso decimo nella gara di qualifica dopo essere arrivato secondo ed essere gradualmente caduto da una posizione di qualificazione. McElrath aveva combattuto contro il raffreddore per gran parte della settimana; superare la heat è stato un risultato significativo in uno sport con conseguenze costose quando un atleta non è al 100%. Nella LCQ, McElrath ha lottato contro il compagno di squadra Kyle Chisolm per il comando nei primi giri prima di stabilirsi in testa alla vittoria assoluta nella LCQ. Mantenendo lo slancio nel Main, Shane ha concluso con un solido 14° posto.

Kyle Chisholm, n. 11 sulla sua Twisted TEA HEP Suzuki, ha trascorso una serata encomiabile sulla sua RM-Z 450 Suzuki, finendo tra i primi 20. Non è proprio dove il pilota veterano si aspetta di finire, ma il 19° posto in un altro evento principale coerente è un passo nella direzione giusta.

Ken Roczen led from start to finish Saturday night. The #94 Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki went into the home of our title sponsor’s competitor and planted the Progressive Insurance flag right in the heart of State Farm Stadium. Ken Roczen led every lap on the track aboard his RM-Z450 Suzuki, crossing the finish line in the main event with a 4.781-second lead on second place. It’s the first win for Roczen in 2024 and the second supercross win for Pipes Motorsports Group with the #94 Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki.

“I haven’t won much in the recent years so I take these moments in so much… My start was really good. I got a super good jump. I may have shut the throttle off a little bit too early, so I almost got swallowed up there. But I had the inside and as I went around the first turn I’m like, ‘This is what I need’… The track was really tricky, it just got so slippery. I made so many micro-decisions on the track in certain areas that I picked out; as I ran through some of the first few laps I just noticed some of the key spots that are really tricky and can really bite you. So I just managed the race the whole way… I tried to not look at the time, I just clicked my laps, lap after lap. My Progressive ECSTAR Suzuki was working flawless out here today. I haven’t done many changes at all and it shows. You know, I’ve got to give it up to my whole team, my crew behind me, Peyton at home, my family, Griffin this is for you. I’ve been telling him the whole time I’m going to bring some trophies home, and especially wins, so I finally did it and this is an unbelievable moment for us.” – Ken Roczen

Shane McElrath, #12 Twisted Tea HEP Suzuki, might have had you scratching your head as he uncharacteristically finished tenth in the heat race after running in second and gradually falling out of a qualifying position. McElrath had been battling a cold for the better part of the week; making it through his heat race was a significant accomplishment in a sport with costly consequences when an athlete is not 100%. In the LCQ, McElrath battled teammate Kyle Chisolm for the lead in the opening laps before settling into the lead for the overall win in the LCQ. Maintaining that momentum in the Main, Shane finished in a solid 14th place.

Kyle Chisholm, #11 on his Twisted TEA HEP Suzuki, had a commendable night on his RM-Z 450 Suzuki, finishing in the top 20. He’s not quite where the veteran rider expects to finish, but 19th placed in another consistent main event is a step in the right direction.
