Il Team HRC MXGP si gode il Giorno del Ringraziamento Honda
Tim Gajser e Ruben Fernandez si sono uniti a tutta una serie di atleti Honda provenienti da una moltitudine di sport motoristici durante l’annuale Giorno del Ringraziamento, tenutosi al Motegi Mobility Resort in Giappone lo scorso fine settimana.
Alla coppia MXGP si sono uniti altre stelle del motocross, Jett e Hunter Lawrence, che sono stati invitati a festeggiare dopo la loro stagione di grande successo 2023, quando la coppia ha vinto più titoli nelle classi 250 e 450 per il team Honda Racing US in America. E questi quattro si sono incontrati con altri colleghi fuoristrada e stradali per quello che è uno dei più grandi eventi del calendario delle corse automobilistiche.
Fresco del suo campionato del mondo di F1, Max Verstappen ha fatto il viaggio, insieme agli altri piloti di F1 Sergio Perez, Yuki Tsunoda e Daniel Riccardo, ma forse il nome più importante è stato la stella della MotoGP Marc Marquez, che stava dando un commosso addio al suo team Repsol Honda dopo un carriera straordinaria sotto la tenda HRC.
Ogni disciplina ha potuto mostrare le proprie moto in speciali esposizioni lungo il circuito, con i piloti di motocross che hanno disputato una gara di super pole sulla pista appositamente progettata vicino all’imponente Honda Collections Hall. Gajser della MXGP ha ottenuto la vittoria e ha entusiasmato il pubblico con una caratteristica frusta sul traguardo e ha anche aperto la strada davanti a tutti i piloti di F1 nelle qualificazioni kart altamente competitive, conquistando la pole position in gara. Sfortunatamente, non è riuscito a mantenere il comando dopo alcuni colpi aggressivi da parte degli inseguitori, ma sia lui che il compagno di squadra Fernandez si sono goduti dei giri divertenti contro i migliori piloti del mondo.
Sono poi tornati sulla pista di motocross per una gara speciale che includeva la stella della MotoGP Joan Mir, il pilota del Trials Gabriel Marcelli e piloti delle due ruote di varie altre discipline per una gara a bordo di Honda 125F, che ha offerto ancora più intrattenimento a questo pubblico entusiasta. . Il formato della squadra di quattro uomini ha visto i piloti consegnare la moto dopo un giro del circuito, con l’equipaggio di Jett Lawrence che ha ottenuto la vittoria in una gara bonaria.
Tenendo il meglio per ultimo, ogni moto e macchina, poi ha iniziato a fare un giro del circuito stradale di Motegi, prima di eseguire il consueto burnout in partenza direttamente davanti al pubblico enorme. È stato un gran finale per un grande evento che mette davvero in mostra la forza e la profondità della Honda Racing Corporation.

Mi sono divertito molto quest’anno a questo evento. In passato ero l’unico pilota di motocross, ma quest’anno avere Ruben, Jett e Hunter con me lo ha reso davvero divertente. Siamo andati tutti molto d’accordo e le attività di corsa sono state molto divertenti. È sempre bello incontrare gli altri piloti e piloti perché, anche se facciamo sport diversi, condividiamo tutti l’amore per le corse e le macchine e sappiamo cosa sacrifica l’un l’altro per arrivare dove siamo oggi. Grazie a tutti coloro che sono venuti qui durante il fine settimana e grazie a tutti i fan della Honda in tutto il mondo che ci supportano. Non potremmo davvero fare quello che facciamo senza tutti voi.

Questo è stato il mio primo viaggio in Giappone e mi sono divertito moltissimo! Ho trascorso una giornata esplorando Tokyo, il che è stato fantastico e poi abbiamo fatto il viaggio fino a Motegi per il Giorno del Ringraziamento. Molti altri piloti sono spagnoli, quindi ho potuto parlare molto con Marc (Marquez), Joan (Mir), Gabriel (Marcelli) e questo è sempre positivo. È stato bello anche conoscere i fratelli Lawrence al di fuori dell’ambiente di gara. Ci siamo divertiti molto a correre, ma anche semplicemente a divertirci con tutte le belle moto e a fare le cose che ci hanno fatto interessare a questo sport fin dall’inizio. Spero davvero di poter tornare l’anno prossimo e rifarlo, e spero di vedere ancora di più il Giappone.

Team HRC MXGP enjoys Honda Thanks Day
Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez joined a whole host of Honda athletes from a multitude of motorsports at the annual Thanks Day, held at the Motegi Mobility Resort in Japan this past weekend.
The MXGP pair were joined by fellow motocross stars, Jett and Hunter Lawrence who were invited to celebrate after their highly successful 2023 season when the pair won multiple titles across the 250 and 450 classes for the Honda Racing US team in America. And these four met up with more of their off-road and road colleagues for what is one of the biggest events on the motor-racing calendar.
Fresh off his F1 World Championship, Max Verstappen made the trip, alongside fellow F1 drivers Sergio Perez, Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Riccardo, but perhaps the biggest name was MotoGP star Marc Marquez, who was bidding an emotional farewell to his Repsol Honda team after an amazing career under the HRC awning.
Each discipline got to showcase their machinery in special displays around the circuit, with the motocross riders having a super-pole competition on the specially designed track near the impressive Honda Collections Hall. MXGP’s Gajser took the victory and wowed the crowd with a signature whip on the finish line and he also led the way ahead of all the F1 drivers in the highly competitive karting qualification, taking pole-position into the race. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to keep the lead after some aggressive bumping from the chasing pack, but both him and teammate Fernandez enjoyed some fun laps against the best drivers in the world.
They then headed back to the motocross track for a special race that included MotoGP star Joan Mir, Trials rider Gabriel Marcelli and two-wheeled riders across various other disciplines for a race on-board Honda 125Fs, which provided yet more entertainment for this enthusiastic crowd. The four-man team format saw riders hand the bike over after a lap of the circuit, with Jett Lawrence’s crew getting the win in a good-natured race.
Saving the best for last, every bike and car, then took to doing a lap of the Motegi road-circuit, before performing a customary burnout on the start straight in front of the massive crowd. It was a great finale to a great event that truly showcases the strength and depth of Honda Racing Corporation.

I had a lot of fun this year at this event. In the past, I’ve been the only motocross rider, but this year having Ruben, Jett and Hunter with me, really made it enjoyable. We all got on so well and the racing activities were a lot of fun. It is always cool to meet the other riders and drivers because although we do different sports, we all share the love for racing and machinery and know what each other sacrifices to get where we are today. Thank you to everyone who came out over the weekend and thank you to all the Honda fans worldwide who support us. We really couldn’t do what we do without all of you.

This was my first trip to Japan and I had a great time! I got to spend a day looking around Tokyo, which was awesome and then we had the trip up to Motegi for the Thanks Day. A lot of the other riders are Spanish, so I was able to speak with Marc (Marquez), Joan (Mir), Gabriel (Marcelli) a lot and that is always good. It was also cool to get to know the Lawrence brothers outside of the race environment. We had a lot of fun racing, but also just enjoying being around all the cool bikes and doing the stuff that got us interested in the sport to begin with. I really hope I can come back next year and do this again, and hopefully see even more of Japan.
