Seewer si assicura la medaglia di bronzo MXGP con la straordinaria vittoria del Gran Premio in Italia
Jeremy Seewer del Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP è emerso vittorioso al 18° e penultimo round del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross a Maggiora, in Italia. Di conseguenza, il sensazionale svizzero, che questo fine settimana ha iniziato il suo 110° Gran Premio consecutivo nella classe regina, si è assicurato la medaglia di bronzo di quest’anno. I compagni di squadra Glenn Coldenhoff e Maxime Renaux si sono classificati rispettivamente ottavo e sedicesimo.
L’MXGP d’Italia è iniziato in modo eccezionale per Seewer. La stella svizzera ha corso con un ritmo fenomenale sul duro e scivoloso pendio di Maggiora mentre inseguiva il neo-campione del mondo, Jorge Prado, in una sfida per la vittoria in Gara Uno. Nonostante abbia spinto lo spagnolo al traguardo, non si è mai concretizzata un’opportunità di sorpasso, che ha costretto il “91” ad accontentarsi del secondo posto.
Allo stesso tempo, Coldenhoff è stato schiacciato alla prima curva e ha dovuto risalire dal 10° al settimo posto, mentre Renaux ha concluso 18° dopo una caduta nel primo giro.
Nella seconda e ultima gara della giornata, Seewer è partito fuori dai primi cinque ma ha continuato a lottare e alla fine è arrivato quarto, il che è stato sufficiente per assicurarsi la vittoria del Gran Premio.
La forte pioggia durata tutta la settimana ha reso il circuito di Maggiora più complicato del solito. Con una scelta limitata di traiettorie sullo stretto e collinoso circuito di Maggiora, una buona partenza è stata un elemento cruciale per il risultato del Gran Premio. Dopo una partenza da centro gruppo in Gara Due, Coldenhoff e Renaux hanno faticato a farsi strada. Coldenhoff ha lottato fino al nono posto, mentre Renaux è risalito solo fino al 12° posto.
Con solo 60 punti rimasti per gareggiare nel 2023, le prime tre posizioni nel Campionato del mondo MXGP sono state finalizzate al Gran Premio d’Italia. Seewer punta a portare il suo slancio vincente nella fase finale, che si svolgerà a Matterley Basin, in Gran Bretagna, il prossimo fine settimana, 23 e 24 settembre, mentre Coldenhoff e Renaux sono ansiosi di riprendersi e finire alla grande la stagione.

Sento che è stato il mio turno di avere un po’ di fortuna dopo così tanti periodi sfortunati in questa stagione. Sono stato molto contento della mia guida oggi, che in realtà non era niente di speciale perché la pista non aveva troppe linee. Ma quando vinci il GP, non puoi dire molto sulla pista; accetterai felicemente quel bonus. Le prime tre posizioni in campionato sono decise ora, quindi posso godermi l’ultimo round a Matterley Basin e poi fare qualcosa di bello al ‘The Nations’”.

“Fisicamente mi sento bene. Posso finire la manche alla grande, spingendo fino alla fine. Oggi stavo guidando bene, ho sbagliato solo delle buone partenze e poi ho dovuto rimontare il gruppo. Ho fatto dei buoni sorpassi in entrambe le gare. Per quanto riguarda la guida, sono felice, ma le mie partenze sono terribili in questo momento e, da questo punto di vista, sono deluso”.

“Partendo da dietro, ho dovuto spingere davvero forte per superare i piloti, e oggi ho faticato. Non posso dire che non sia stato possibile passare, e forse la mia mente non era abbastanza lucida per trovare le linee migliori, ma ho fatto davvero fatica a trovare i punti per recuperare tempo. Partire ultimo non ha aiutato, ma anche oggi non mi sentivo al meglio in pista. Quindi, torniamo al lavoro.

Seewer Secures MXGP Bronze Medal with Stunning Grand Prix Win in Italy
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer emerged victorious at the 18th and penultimate round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Maggiora, Italy. As a result, the Swiss sensation, who started his 110th consecutive Grand Prix inside the premier class this weekend, has secured this year’s bronze medal. Teammates Glenn Coldenhoff and Maxime Renaux were classified eighth and 16th, respectively.
The MXGP of Italy got off to an exceptional start for Seewer. The Swiss star ran a phenomenal pace around the hard and slick hillside of Maggiora as he pursued the newly crowned World Champion, Jorge Prado, in a challenge of the victory in Race One. Despite pushing the Spaniard to the flag, an opportunity to pass never materialized, which forced the ‘91’ to settle for second.
At the same time, Coldenhoff was squeezed at turn one and had to fight back from 10th to seventh, while Renaux finished 18th after a fall on the opening lap.
In the second and final race of the day, Seewer started outside of the top-five but kept fighting forward and eventually finished fourth, which was enough to secure the Grand Prix win.
Heavy rain throughout the week made the Maggiora circuit trickier than usual. With limited line choice at the tight and hilly Maggiora circuit, a good start was a crucial element in the result of the Grand Prix. After a midpack start in Race Two, Coldenhoff and Renaux both struggled to make inroads. Coldenhoff battled to ninth, while Renaux only moved as far up as 12th.
With only 60 points left to race for in 2023, the top-three positions in the MXGP World Championship were finalized at the Italian Grand Prix. Seewer aims to carry his winning momentum into the final round, which will take place in Matterley Basin, Great Britain, next weekend, September 23 – 24, while Coldenhoff and Renaux are eager to bounce back and finish the season strong.

“This one was special. I didn’t even know I won the GP. Things fell in my favour for once, which was nice. I feel like it was my turn to have some luck after so many stints of bad luck this season. I was super happy with my riding today, which was actually nothing special because the track did not have too many lines. But, when you win the GP, you can’t say much about the track; you’ll happily take that bonus. The top-three positions in the championship are decided now, so I can enjoy the last round in Matterley Basin and then do something cool at ‘The Nations’.”

“Starting from behind, I had to push really hard to pass riders, and I struggled with that today. I cannot say that it was not possible to pass, and perhaps my mind was not clear enough to find the best lines, but I really struggled to find places to make up time. Starting from last did not help, but I also did not feel the best on the track today as well. So, back to work.”
