Seewer e Coldenhoff finiscono terzo e quarto nella drammatica resa dei conti del Gran Premio d’Olanda
Jeremy Seewer della Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP ha portato la sua YZ450FM a un emozionante podio al 16° round del FIM Motocross World Championship ad Arnhem, nei Paesi Bassi. Allo stesso tempo, l’olandese volante della squadra Glenn Coldenhoff ha reso orgogliosi le migliaia di fan olandesi entusiasti e incredibilmente solidali con la sua corsa al quarto posto assoluto, mentre Maxime Renaux ha superato alcune sfide per finire sesto.
Il Gran Premio d’Olanda si è rivelato un estenuante test di abilità e resistenza, con i piloti che hanno affrontato il brutale e accidentato circuito sabbioso di Arnhem e temperature afose. Dopo una splendida vittoria nel Gran Premio di Svezia, Seewer si è schierato fiducioso e ha nuovamente mostrato la sua ammirevole determinazione con una prestazione impressionante che ha tenuto i fan con il fiato sospeso in Gara Uno.
Dopo aver spinto la sua YZ450FM a una partenza tra i primi tre, la stella svizzera ha ingaggiato una feroce battaglia con i leader nel primo giro. Sebbene sia stato momentaneamente riportato al terzo posto da Romain Febvre, il “91” è rimasto persistente e ha presto recuperato il secondo posto quando Febvre ha commesso un errore.
Mentre i primi 30 minuti sono stati entusiasmanti, sono stati gli ultimi tre giri a tenere i tifosi con il fiato sospeso quando Seewer si è avvicinato al leader della corsa Prado, determinato a lottare per la vittoria. Mai uno che si tira indietro dopo una rissa, l’asso della Yamaha ha tentato di creare un sorpasso ma purtroppo ha subito una caduta spettacolare a soli due giri dalla fine. Tuttavia, la sua incredibile capacità di recupero lo ha visto fare un notevole recupero per tagliare il traguardo al terzo posto.
Allo stesso tempo, Coldenhoff ha messo in mostra la sua eccezionale abilità nella guida sulla sabbia eseguendo passaggi brillanti sugli ex campioni del mondo Renaux e Pauls Jonass dopo essere partito settimo. Incoraggiato dall’enorme sostegno del pubblico di casa, l’olandese si è fatto strada fino a un encomiabile quarto posto.
Renaux è salito fino al quinto posto durante la gara. Tuttavia, una caduta dopo 20 minuti ha ostacolato i suoi progressi ed è riuscito a recuperare solo fino al settimo posto.
Gara 2 è iniziata in modo entusiasmante con Seewer e Renaux che si sono dati da fare alla prima curva, alle calcagna di Febvre. Renaux è caduto mentre sfidava Seewer per il secondo posto al terzo giro e ha perso il suo ritmo, il che si è tradotto in un sesto posto.
Seewer, invece, ha trovato la sua forma e ha dimostrato il suo potenziale facendo segnare il giro più veloce della gara al quinto giro. Nel frattempo, Coldenhoff ha fatto una mossa audace al sesto giro, superando Jorge Prado tra le wave per rubare la terza posizione.
Con il progredire della gara, Seewer e Coldenhoff si sono impegnati in un’emozionante battaglia per il secondo posto e l’ambito podio. Gli ultimi giri sono stati intensi quando i fan si sono messi alle spalle di “The Hoff”, ma Seewer ha mantenuto la calma e ha lottato duramente per un meritato secondo posto, costringendo Coldenhoff ad accontentarsi del terzo.
Il risultato di Seewer gli ha permesso di stappare la sua quinta bottiglia di champagne da podio, nel 2023, sul terzo gradino.
Dopo un incredibile Gran Premio di casa, il team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP attende ora con impazienza il prossimo round del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross, che si svolgerà ad Afyonkarahisar, in Turchia, nel fine settimana del 3 settembre.

“Non è mai facile avere dietro di sé l’eroe locale, soprattutto quando stava lottando per il podio nel suo Gran Premio di casa. Sono riuscito a finire meglio, ma è stata una lotta dura. Era molto molto vicino. Sono super contento di oggi, anche se l’errore che ho commesso nella prima gara mi è costato una potenziale vittoria o almeno il secondo assoluto. Ma, oltre a questo, sono molto contento di oggi, soprattutto dopo la giornata di ieri, in cui ho faticato con la messa a punto della mia moto. Pensavo sarebbe stata dura, ma siamo riusciti a farcela, ed è quello che conta”.
Glenn Coldenoff
4° MXGP dei Paesi Bassi, 38 punti
4a classifica del campionato MXGP, 600 punti
“Molto deluso. Mi sono sentito bene per tutto il fine settimana, a parte nella prima gara di oggi, dove ho faticato a superare Maxime (Renaux) e Pauls (Jonass). Alla fine sono riuscito a superarli entrambi contemporaneamente, ma a quel punto i primi tre se n’erano andati e non c’era niente che potessi fare al riguardo. Non sono riuscito a fare più del quarto posto nella prima manche. In Gara 2 la partenza è stata decente, ma in qualche modo sono tornato al settimo posto. Ho ottenuto una posizione da Maxime che è caduto e poi ho dovuto colmare il divario con Jeremy. Ci sono riuscito e sapevo di doverlo superare almeno per un podio, che comunque non era ancora una vittoria, ma anche un podio nel mio GP di casa sarebbe stato bello. È stato bello correre davanti al mio pubblico di casa, il supporto era sicuramente lì, ma non ne avevo abbastanza per portare a termine il lavoro oggi. Ho bisogno di conviverci e cercare di più in Turchia”.
Maxime Renaux
6° MXGP dei Paesi Bassi, 29 punti

“È stato un weekend super duro. Direi che questa è stata una delle peggiori piste da guidare quando torni da un infortunio. Soprattutto perché non sono tornato da molto, quindi non sono ancora al livello che dovrei essere in termini di condizione fisica. Ho anche faticato un po’ con le mie regolazioni, ed è stato solo nella seconda manche che mi sono sentito più a mio agio. Avevo un buon ritmo all’inizio della seconda gara, ma sono caduto sulla curva a sinistra e ho perso un po’ di tempo. Poi ho faticato a riprendere il mio ritmo e sono finito sesto. Nel complesso, sono felice di essere tutto intero e di fare esperienza e lavorare per tornare al mio livello migliore.

Seewer & Coldenhoff Finish Third & Fourth in Dramatic Dutch Grand Prix Showdown
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer powered his YZ450FM to a thrilling podium finish at the 16th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Arnhem, The Netherlands. At the same time, the team’s Flying Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff made the thousands of enthusiastic and incredibly supportive Dutch fans proud with his charge to fourth overall, while Maxime Renaux overcame some challenges to finish sixth.
The Dutch Grand Prix proved to be a grueling test of skill and endurance as riders battled the brutally rough Arnhem sand circuit and sweltering temperatures. After a stunning Grand Prix victory in Sweden, Seewer lined up confident and again showcased his admirable determination with an impressive performance that had fans on the edge of their seats in Race One.
After powering his YZ450FM to a trademark top-three start, the Swiss star engaged in a fierce battle with the leaders on the opening lap. Although he was momentarily shuffled back to third by Romain Febvre, the ‘91’ remained persistent and soon reclaimed second place when Febvre made a mistake.
While the first 30 minutes were exciting, it was the final three laps that had the fans on the edge of their seats as Seewer closed in on the race leader Prado, determined to challenge for the race win. Never one to back down from a fight, the Yamaha ace attempted to set up a pass but unfortunately suffered a spectacular fall with just two laps remaining. However, his incredible resilience saw him make a remarkable recovery to cross the finish line in third place.
At the same time, Coldenhoff showcased his exceptional sand riding ability by executing brilliant passes on former World Champions Renaux and Pauls Jonass after starting seventh. Buoyed by the enormous support of the home crowd, the Dutchman fought his way to a commendable fourth-place finish.
Renaux climbed as high as fifth during the race. However, a fall after 20 minutes hindered his progress, and he was only able to recover to seventh place.
Race Two got off to an exciting start with Seewer and Renaux going bar-to-bar around turn one, hot on the heels of Febvre. Renaux fell while challenging Seewer for second place on lap three and lost his rhythm, which resulted in a sixth-place finish.
Seewer, on the other hand, found his form and proved his potential by posting the fastest lap of the race on lap five. Meanwhile, Coldenhoff made a bold move on lap six, launching past Jorge Prado through the waves to steal third position.
As the race progressed, Seewer and Coldenhoff engaged in a thrilling battle for second place and a coveted podium finish. The last few laps were intense as the fans got behind ‘The Hoff’, but Seewer held his composure and fought hard for a well-deserved second-place finish, forcing Coldenhoff to settle for third.
Seewer’s result allowed him to uncork his fifth bottle of podium champagne, in 2023, on the third step.
After an incredible home Grand Prix, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team now looks forward to the next round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, which will take place in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, on the weekend of September 3rd.

“It’s never easy to have the local hero behind you, especially when he was charging hard for a podium finish at his home Grand Prix. I managed to have the better finish, but it was a tough fight. It was very very close. I am super happy with today, even though the mistake I made in the first race cost me a potential win or at least second overall. But, besides that, I am super happy with today, especially after the day I had yesterday, where I struggled with my bike set-up. I thought it would be tough, but we managed to make it happen, and that’s what counts.”

“Very disappointed. I felt good all weekend, other than in the first race today, where I struggled to pass Maxime (Renaux) and Pauls (Jonass). I eventually managed to pass them both at the same time, but by then, the top three were gone, and there was nothing I could do about it. I could not do more than fourth in moto one. In Race Two, the start was decent, but somehow, I ended up back in seventh-ish. I got one position from Maxime crashing, and then I had to close the gap to Jeremy. I managed to do it, and I knew I had to pass him for at least a podium finish, which anyway, was still not a win, but even a podium finish at my home GP would have been nice. It was nice to race in front of my home crowd, the support was definitely there, but I just didn’t have enough to get the job done today. I need to live with it and go for more in Turkey.”

“It was a super tough weekend. I would say this was one of the worst tracks to ride when you’re coming back from injury. Especially because I haven’t been back for long, so I am not at the level I should be in terms of physical condition just yet. I also struggled a little bit with my settings, and it was only in the second moto that I felt more comfortable. I had quite a good rhythm at the beginning of the second race but crashed on the left-hander and lost quite some time. I then struggled to get my rhythm back and ended up finishing sixth. Overall, I am happy to be in one piece and taking experience and working my way back to my best level.”
