Davanti a 15.000 persone il belga Stefan Everts su Honda si aggiudicò la sedicesima edizione del Fast Cross, gara internazionale di motocross classe Open. Dopo quattro anni consecutivi di predominio dei piloti statunitensi, il ritorno del numero uno del motocross europeo ha interrotto la loro serie positiva. Everts, che all’epoca aveva già vinto quattro dei suoi dieci mondiali, si era già aggiudicato il Fast Cross nel 1993, ha prevalso in finale sullo statunitense Larry Ward, su Suzuki, vincitore delle ultime tre edizioni del Fast Cross. Terzo Tallon Vohland, anche lui americano ma all’epoca stabilito in Europa per correre il mondiale.

In front of 15,000 people, the Belgian Stefan Everts on Honda won the sixteenth edition of the Fast Cross, an international motocross race in the Open class. After four consecutive years of dominance by US riders, the return of the number one in European motocross ended their streak. Everts, who at the time had already won four of his ten world championships, had already won the Fast Cross in 1993, prevailed in the final over the American Larry Ward, on Suzuki, winner of the last three editions of the Fast Cross. Third Tallon Vohland, also American but at the time established in Europe to race in the world championship.
