ROMAIN FEBVRE COMPLETA UNA TRIPLETTA IN REPUBBLICA CECA
Romain Febvre del Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP ha corso per la sua terza vittoria consecutiva in GP nel campionato FIM World MXGP Motocross a Loket nella Repubblica Ceca.
Il francese ha confermato la sua velocità già durante il warm-up mattutino, girando sette decimi più veloce di tutti i suoi rivali e non ha perso tempo a prendere il controllo della prima manche; eliminato dai margini più ristretti per l’holeshot, si è immediatamente lanciato sul successivo salto triplo per portare una velocità oltraggiosa alla curva due, inveendo contro il berm esterno per prendere il comando e scattando immediatamente. Al completamento del primo giro completo aveva già più di due secondi di vantaggio e gradualmente ha aumentato il suo vantaggio a cinque secondi prima di indietreggiare leggermente negli ultimi giri per portare a casa in sicurezza la sua quarta vittoria di manche della stagione. I primi tre contendenti della serie si sono portati davanti in gara due, ma nessun altro ha avuto una risposta al leader Kawasaki mentre ha fatto segnare il giro più veloce in ogni manche. Dopo un passaggio all’interno per il secondo al secondo giro, quattro giri dopo ha effettuato un sorpasso avvincente sul leader precedente su una ripida salita e, aprendo rapidamente un vantaggio imponente, sembrava essere sulla strada per la sua prima vittoria perfetta in due manche GP della stagione. Ma non doveva essere; a quattro giri dalla fine un piccolo errore lo ha visto andare a terra. È risalito quarto e, nonostante il manubrio piegato e una spalla dolorante, ha lottato fino al traguardo per registrare la sua terza vittoria in un GP in quattro fine settimana, dopo aver vinto anche ciascuno dei due precedenti GP in Indonesia. Gli esami medici post-gara non hanno rivelato danni alla spalla e ora si dirige verso il tredicesimo round di diciannove la prossima settimana in Belgio, dopo aver consolidato il secondo posto nella classifica della serie.
Romain Febvre: “Non ho vinto tre GP di fila dal 2015; ecco perché sono felice nonostante questa caduta nella seconda manche. Sarebbe potuta essere la giornata perfetta con due vittorie in manche; la mia velocità era buona, la mia guida è stata buona, tutto… fino a questo errore nella seconda manche. Ho controllato la prima gara, poi nella seconda ho fatto un’altra buona partenza. Ho superato Prado per il secondo, poi ho seguito Seewer per diversi giri e ho potuto confrontare le nostre linee; a volte è bello essere il cacciatore! Ho visto che ero più veloce di lui in diversi tratti e dopo averlo superato ho creato un distacco dai miei rivali. Stavo guidando con costanza fino a quando la ruota anteriore è scivolata via in una curva e sono caduto “Ho perso alcune posizioni ma sapevo che se fossi rimasto quarto avrei avuto almeno un risultato sul podio. Mi faceva male la spalla ma potevo dimenticare il dolore fino alla fine della gara. Sono felice di aver vinto il GP; è la terza volta che vinco qui a Loket ed è stato bello vincere di nuovo dopo diversi anni difficili qui, non posso dire che sia la mia pista preferita, ma il mio stile di guida sembra adattarsi al tracciato. Gli esami medici non hanno evidenziato danni alla spalla ma mi riposerò un po’ per essere pronto per Lommel il prossimo fine settimana”.
Il collega di KRT Mitch Evans ha portato due moto Green tra i primi sei all’inizio di gara uno e l’australiano ha mantenuto quella posizione fino a perdere una posizione al settimo giro, ma si è riorganizzato rapidamente per portare a casa un sicuro settimo posto. Una partenza a centrocampo in gara due lo ha lasciato quindicesimo al primo giro, ma è passato rapidamente al dodicesimo ea tre giri dalla fine ha effettuato l’ultimo sorpasso decisivo per l’undicesimo posto in manche e il nono assoluto. I ventiquattro punti lo vedono anche salire al quattordicesimo posto nella classifica della serie e, a sette round dalla fine, la top ten è ancora un obiettivo realistico nonostante sia stato costretto a saltare i primi quattro GP per infortunio.
Mitch Evans: “Sono partito davvero bene nella prima gara e sono riuscito a mantenere il ritmo per tutta la manche. Sono appena stato bloccato dalla partenza in gara due, ma abbiamo fatto di nuovo buoni progressi questo fine settimana. Avanti e avanti fino a Lommel”.
Antti Pyrhönen (team manager KRT): “L’intero team è davvero orgoglioso di aver vinto tre GP di fila. Romain ha corso una gara quasi perfetta; è stato il pilota più veloce in entrambe le manche ed era completamente in controllo fino a quel piccolo errore vicino alla fine di gara due. È abbastanza sorprendente che possa ancora vincere il GP e teniamo le dita incrociate che andrà bene per Lommel il prossimo fine settimana. Anche Mitch ha fatto un’ottima prima manche”.

ROMAIN FEBVRE COMPLETES A HAT-TRICK IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Romain Febvre of Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP raced to his third consecutive GP victory in the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Loket in the Czech Republic.
The Frenchman confirmed his speed already during morning Warm-Up as he lapped seven-tenths of a second faster than any of his rivals and he wasted no time in taking control of the first moto; edged out by the narrowest of margins for the holeshot, he immediately launched over the following triple-jump to carry outrageous speed into turn two, railing the outside berm to take the lead and immediately sprinting clear. By the completion of the first complete lap he was already more than two seconds clear and gradually opened up his advantage to five seconds before backing off slightly through the final laps to bring home safely his fourth moto win of the campaign. The top three series contenders each gated up front in race two but no-one else had an answer to the Kawasaki leader as he set the fastest lap in each moto. After an inside move for second on lap two he made an enthralling pass on the previous leader on a steep climb four laps later and, quickly opening up a commanding lead, he appeared to be on the way to his first perfect two-moto GP victory of the season. But it was not to be; four laps from the end a small error saw him thrown to the ground. He remounted fourth and, despite bent handlebars and a painful shoulder, gritted it out to the finish to record his third GP victory in four weekends, having also won each of the two previous GPs in Indonesia. Post-race medical examinations revealed no damage to the shoulder and he now heads to round thirteen of nineteen next week in Belgium, having consolidated second in the series standings.
Romain Febvre: “I didn’t win three GPs in-a-row since 2015; that’s why I’m happy despite this crash in the second moto. It could have been the perfect day with two moto wins; my speed was good, my riding was good, everything … until this mistake in the second moto. I controlled the first race, then in the second I had another good start. I passed Prado for second, then I followed Seewer for several laps and could compare our lines; sometimes it’s good to be the hunter! I saw that I was faster than him in several sections and after I passed him I made a gap on my rivals. I was riding consistently until the front wheel slipped away in a corner and I crashed. I lost a few positions but I knew if I kept fourth I had at least a podium result. My shoulder hurt but I could forget the pain until the end of the race. I’m happy to win the GP; it’s the third time I have won here at Loket and it was good to win again after several tough years here. I can’t say that it’s my favourite track but my riding style seems to suit the layout. The medical examinations didn’t reveal any damage to the shoulder but I will take some rest to be ready for Lommel next weekend.”
KRT colleague Mitch Evans made it two Green bikes in the top-six off the start of race one and the Australian maintained that position until losing one position on lap seven but he regrouped quickly to bring home a secure seventh-placed finish. A midfield start in race two left him fifteenth on lap one but he made quick advances to twelfth and three laps from the end made the final decisive pass for eleventh in moto and ninth overall. The twenty-four points also see him move up to fourteenth in the series standings and, with seven rounds remaining, the top-ten is still a realistic target despite having been forced to sit out the first four GPs through injury.
Mitch Evans: “I got a really good start in the first race and could keep the tempo all moto. I just got boxed-in off the start in race two but we made good progress again this weekend. Onwards and upwards to Lommel.”
Antti Pyrhönen (KRT team manager): “The entire team is really proud with three GP wins in-a-row. Romain rode an almost perfect race; he was the fastest rider in both motos and was completely in control until that small mistake near the end of race two. It’s quite amazing that he could still win the GP and we keep our fingers crossed that he will be OK for Lommel next weekend. Mitch also rode a great first moto.”
