Tomac spara il primo colpo con la vittoria epica di Anaheim 1

Eli Tomac di Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing ha aggiunto la vittoria di Anaheim 1 alla sua lista di successi in carriera, ottenendo un’emozionante vittoria all’apertura della stagione Monster Energy AMA Supercross. È stata una prima uscita stellare per la YZ2023F del 450 all’Angels Stadium di Anaheim, con il compagno di squadra Dylan Ferrandis che ha mostrato forza e ha mancato di poco il podio in un Main Event 450SX pieno di drammi.
I motociclisti hanno dovuto affrontare condizioni difficili dopo che Madre Natura ha inzuppato la California meridionale in vista del round di apertura del Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 2023 e della serie inaugurale del SuperMotocross World Championship. Tomac è partito alla grande, conquistando il secondo posto nelle qualifiche e conquistando l’holeshot nella prima gara di quali 450SX in rotta verso una vittoria dominante. Nell’evento principale, ha preso il comando al terzo giro, ma sfortunatamente, prima della metà del percorso, è caduto sul salto del tunnel ed è stato trascinato al sesto posto. Il campione in carica ha messo a segno una prestazione da maestro, tornando in testa negli ultimi giri per ottenere la sua prima vittoria ad Anaheim 1 alla gara di debutto per la nuovissima YZ450F.
Anche il suo compagno di squadra Ferrandis ha avuto un ottimo inizio di stagione. Il francese si è qualificato sesto e si è classificato secondo nella heat, regalando alla squadra un fantastico 1-2 finale. È partito bene nell’evento principale e si è fatto strada dal nono al quinto a metà gara. Con gli occhi puntati sul podio, ha continuato a caricare ma, sfortunatamente, ha commesso un errore nelle condizioni difficili ed è finito al quarto posto poco prima del podio finale.
Il prossimo fine settimana, il team Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing si dirigerà a nord verso il RingCentral Coliseum di Oakland, in California, per il Round 2 del Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship sabato 14 gennaio.

È stata una giornata fenomenale! Non poteva andare meglio, soprattutto per il debutto di una nuova moto. Dylan ed Eli sono stati felici tutto il giorno. Hanno fatto buone prove, buone qualifiche, una fantastica gara di qualifica con un 1-2 finale e buone partenze per tutta la notte. Questa è stata la chiave di questa gara e di questo fine settimana: fare buone partenze, condurre alcuni giri ed essere davanti. L’evento principale è stato fantastico. Eli è partito bene e ha condotto molti giri. Sfortunatamente, è caduto, ma ha mantenuto la testa concentrata. Sapeva, e sapevamo che poteva ancora vincere, e ha mantenuto la pressione e ha ottenuto una vittoria fenomenale. Dylan ha anche corso un fantastico evento principale e ha fatto una grande inversione di tendenza rispetto alla scorsa stagione; è davvero fantastico. Continueremo a spingere in avanti.

È stato un fantastico Anaheim 1! È piuttosto speciale per noi farlo al primo round con una nuova piattaforma, e per me sono 10 anni che sono nella classe 450, quindi è bello ottenere questa vittoria. È stata una giornata incredibile per tutti noi. Ero P2 in prova ed ero molto vicino al primo posto lì, e poi nella heat, ho ottenuto l’holeshot e sono scappato con quello. È stato fantastico. Nell’evento principale, c’erano così tante cose che sono successe lì. Ero di nuovo molto vicino all’holeshot. Ero proprio lì e ho combattuto con Justin (Barcia). Ho fatto un passaggio per il vantaggio e poi ho commesso un errore. Ho avuto un incidente durante il salto nel tunnel e ho finito dietro. A quel punto, ho pensato che la possibilità di tornare in testa fosse finita, ma per fortuna la mia moto era ancora dritta e tutto andava bene. In qualche modo sono tornato in testa al gruppo, quindi è stata una svolta folle degli eventi, ma nel complesso la moto ha funzionato così bene oggi. Siamo partiti nel modo giusto.

E ‘stata una buona giornata. Onestamente, è stato il miglior round di apertura per me nella classe 450. Ho avuto la possibilità di essere sul palco stasera. Ad un certo punto ero terzo nel main event, ma un piccolo errore mi è costato il podio. Alla fine sono arrivato quarto ed ero poco dal terzo pilota, quindi è un buon risultato e sono davvero contento di quella prima gara. Onestamente, dopo due pessime stagioni nel supercross, è bello essere di nuovo nel mix e tornare a lottare per il podio. So di cosa sono capace e penso che stasera non ho corso al massimo delle mie potenzialità. So di avere un piccolo margine per migliorare e sono pronto per la prossima settimana. La nuova moto è molto meglio per me nel supercross. Penso che l’abbiamo dimostrato stasera con Eli. Ha vinto e io sono arrivato quarto. Per noi è un buon inizio di stagione.

Tomac Fires First Shot with Epic Anaheim 1 Victory
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing enjoys a stellar debut with the all-new YZ450F at the opening round of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac added Anaheim 1 winner to his list of career achievements, taking a thrilling victory at last night’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener. It was a stellar first outing for the 2023 YZ450F at the Angels Stadium of Anaheim, with teammate Dylan Ferrandis also showing strength and narrowly missing the podium in a drama-filled 450SX Main Event.
Riders were met with challenging conditions after Mother Nature drenched Southern California in the lead-up to the opening round of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and the inaugural SuperMotocross World Championship series. Tomac got off to a great start, taking the runner-up spot in qualifying and grabbing the holeshot in the first 450SX heat race en route to a dominant victory. In the main event, he took over the lead on Lap 3, but unfortunately, before the halfway point, he crashed on the tunnel jump and was shuffled to sixth. The reigning champ put on a masterclass performance, making his way back to the front in the final laps to score his first Anaheim 1 victory at the debut race for the all-new YZ450F.
His teammate Ferrandis also enjoyed a great start to the new season. The Frenchman qualified sixth and took a runner-up spot in the heat race, giving the team a stellar 1-2 finish. He got off to a solid start in the main event and made his way from ninth to fifth by the halfway point. With his eyes set on a podium, he kept charging but, unfortunately, made a mistake in the challenging conditions and ended up just shy of the final podium spot in fourth.
Next weekend, the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team heads north to the RingCentral Coliseum in Oakland, California, for Round 2 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship on Saturday, January 14.

It was a phenomenal day! It couldn’t have gone any better, especially for the debut of a new bike. Dylan and Eli were happy all day. They had a good practice, good qualifying, an awesome heat race with a 1-2 finish, and good starts all night. That was the key to this race and this weekend – to have good starts, lead some laps and be up front. The main event was awesome. Eli was off to a good start and led a lot of laps. Unfortunately, he went down, but he kept his head focused. He knew, and we knew that he could still win, and he kept the pressure on and pulled off a phenomenal win. Dylan also rode an amazing main event and has made a big turnaround from last season; it’s pretty awesome. We’ll just keep pushing forward.

It was an amazing Anaheim 1! It’s pretty special for us to do this at round one with a new platform, and for me, it’s been 10 years that I’ve been in the 450 class, so it feels good to get this win. It was an unbelievable day for us as a whole. I was P2 in practice and was very close to first place there, and then in the heat race, I got the holeshot and ran away with that one. That was awesome. In the main event, there was so much that happened there. I was really close to the holeshot again. I was right there and battled with Justin (Barcia). I made a pass for the lead and then made a mistake. I had a crash on the tunnel jump and ended up washing out. At that point in time, I thought the chance at the lead again was maybe over, but thankfully my bike was still straight, and everything was good. I somehow made it to the front of the pack again, so it was a wild turn of events, but overall the bike worked so well today. We’re off to the right start.
Dylan Ferrandis
It was a good day. Honestly, it was the best opening round for me in the 450 class. I had a chance to be on the box tonight. I was third at some point in the main event, but a small mistake cost me the podium. In the end, I finished fourth and was right on the wheel of the third guy, so it’s a good result, and I’m really happy with that first race. Honestly, after two very bad seasons in supercross, it’s good to be back in the mix and back to fighting for podiums. I know what I’m capable of, and I think tonight, I didn’t race to my full potential. I know I have a small margin to improve, and I’m ready for next week. The new bike is just so much better for me in supercross. I think we proved it tonight with Eli. He won, and I finished fourth. It’s a good start to the season for us.
