Rookie Sensation Renaux si assicura la vittoria della prima MXGP con Coldenhoff assicurando un perfetto 1-2 per Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP
Maxime Renaux della Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP è stato a dir poco sensazionale al nono round dei 19 nel Campionato del mondo di motocross FIM a Madrid, in Spagna. Il francese di 22 anni, recentemente compiuti, ha ottenuto due vittorie enfatiche in gara per la sua prima vittoria in assoluto in un Gran Premio di classe regina. Il compagno di squadra Glenn Coldenhoff ha ottenuto una straordinaria vittoria in Gara di qualificazione ed è arrivato quinto in Gara 1 e secondo in Gara 2 per il suo secondo podio consecutivo, sul secondo gradino. Allo stesso tempo, Jeremy Seewer ha dovuto superare alcune avversità per l’ottavo posto assoluto.
Sabato pomeriggio, Coldenhoff ha sopportato una gara soffocante per ottenere la sua seconda vittoria stagionale nelle manche di qualificazione. Allo stesso tempo, i compagni di squadra Renaux e Seewer hanno fatto ottime gare per qualificarsi rispettivamente terzo e quinto. Di fronte a temperature ancora più calde il giorno della gara, il Gran Premio di Spagna è stata una frizzante sopravvivenza del più forte. Quando i cancelli sono caduti per gara 1, la folla al completo è esplosa mentre Renaux è andato da un manubrio all’altro con il favorito dei fan Jorge Prado intorno alla prima curva.
Crescendo sotto la pressione, Renaux è andato sempre più rafforzandosi, mentre Prado ha commesso un paio di errori costosi. Sfruttando l’errore di Prado, l’attuale leader del campionato Tim Gajser ha preso la seconda posizione e ha esercitato una certa pressione sul campione del mondo MX2 in carica, Renaux. Mentre Gajser ha mantenuto il francese per l’intera durata di 30 minuti e due giri della gara, alla fine gli è stata negata la vittoria con “The Rookie” che ha resistito per un’emozionante vittoria in gara, la sua seconda della stagione.
Le partenze sono state fondamentali sul circuito di Xanadu-Arroyomolinos, con il circuito di terra battuta stretto e tortuoso, ruvido e difficile che si è rivelato ostico per superare. Coldenhoff è partito quinto, nonostante avesse le vertigini dopo una grossa caduta nel giro di ricognizione. Tuttavia, è riuscito a controllare la posizione fino alla bandiera.
Allo stesso tempo, Seewer è partito al culmine della top-10 ma è caduto in modo spettacolare fuori dal settimo posto al giro-5. Fortunatamente, il ’91’ ha potuto fare una rapida rimonta ed è stato in grado di salvare l’11°.
Entrando in Gara 2, Renaux era raggiante di fiducia. L’asso francese è balzato fuori dal cancello, inseguendo Coldenhoff e Prado alla prima curva. I compagni di squadra, ‘Hoff’ e Renaux, si sono scambiati alcune volte la seconda posizione prima che Prado cadesse dal comando.
Una volta in prima linea, Renaux si è divertito. Il vincitore di Gara 1 ha sfruttato appieno la pista libera e ha conquistato un’altra straordinaria vittoria in gara per celebrare la sua prima vittoria in assoluto nella classe regina con un punteggio perfetto di 50 punti.
Coldenhoff è rimasto incontrastato in seconda posizione, mentre Seewer ha fatto progressi significativi dopo aver apportato modifiche all’assetto della sua moto e ha concluso la sua giornata con una nota positiva al quarto posto.
Dopo un weekend memorabile in Spagna, Renaux ha rafforzato la sua presa sulla seconda posizione nella classifica del campionato MXGP. Ora ha un vantaggio di 46 punti su Seewer al terzo posto, mentre Coldenhoff rimane quinto.
L’MXGP di Spagna è stato il primo di tre Gran Premi consecutivi. Il prossimo round del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross si svolgerà a Ernee, in Francia, nel fine settimana del 5 giugno.

“La mia prima vittoria assoluta nella classe MXGP e domani è il compleanno di mia mamma, quindi è un bel regalo per lei. È stato perfetto. Mi sono sentito benissimo in pista questo fine settimana, già da sabato. Oggi sono riuscito a fare delle buone partenze e a mettere insieme due manche coerenti senza errori, quindi sono molto molto felice e non vedo l’ora che arrivi il mio GP di casa la prossima settimana.

“Prima dell’Argentina, abbiamo fatto dei test e abbiamo apportato grandi miglioramenti in tutte le aree, quindi siamo in salita. Ieri è stato davvero bello vincere la manche di qualificazione, che mi ha dato una buona scelta per il cancello di oggi. Prima della prima manche, ho fatto una caduta enorme, c’era così tanta acqua sulla pista e non l’ho vista, quindi prima che me ne accorgessi ero a terra. Quindi, mi sono sentito un po’ stordito per la prima manche, che è stata davvero dura per me, ma sono comunque riuscito a ottenere un quinto. Nella seconda manche ho avuto una buona partenza e una bella lotta con Maxime. Stavo seguendo Max, ma oggi era un po’ troppo forte, quindi il risultato è stato 5-2. Un altro buon fine settimana e come ho detto, da qui salirà solo”.

“Nel complesso, questo è stato un weekend da dimenticare. Ho cambiato un po’ le cose nella seconda manche, ma ancora, sembra che faccia fatica qui anche se sono arrivato qui felice e fiducioso. Sono stato meglio quest’anno rispetto all’anno scorso, ma ho solo commesso degli errori nel momento peggiore e non mi sentivo bene sulla moto. Non credo che la mia guida sia stata male, ma non riuscivo a trovare il mio ritmo su questa pista. Ho apportato alcune modifiche all’assetto della moto per la seconda manche e mi sembra di tornare sempre alla giusta configurazione, ma è qualcosa su cui dobbiamo lavorare. Ma per ora, non vedo l’ora che arrivi il prossimo GP. Alcune delle mie piste preferite di tutti i tempi stanno arrivando come Ernee e Teutschenthal, quindi spero di trovare una buona combinazione tra me e la moto lì, e poi potrò essere molto migliore.

Rookie Sensation Renaux Secures Maiden MXGP Win with Coldenhoff Ensuring a Perfect 1-2 for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Maxime Renaux was nothing short of sensational at the ninth round of 19 in the FIM Motocross World Championship in Madrid, Spain. The recently turned 22-year-old Frenchman stormed to two emphatic race wins for his first-ever premier-class Grand Prix victory. Teammate Glenn Coldenhoff took a stunning Qualifying Race win and finished fifth in Race 1 and second in Race 2 for his second consecutive podium finish – on the second step. At the same time, Jeremy Seewer had to overcome some adversity for eighth overall.
On Saturday afternoon, Coldenhoff endured a stifling hot race to take his second Qualifying Heat win of the season. At the same time, teammates Renaux and Seewer put in strong rides to qualify third and fifth, respectively. Faced with even hotter temperatures on race day, the Spanish Grand Prix was a sizzling survival of the fittest. When the gates dropped for race 1, the full capacity crowd erupted as Renaux went bar-to-bar with fan favourite Jorge Prado around turn one.
Thriving under pressure, Renaux went from strength to strength, while Prado made a couple of costly mistakes. Capitalizing on Prado’s error, the current Championship Leader Tim Gajser took second position and applied some pressure to the reigning MX2 World Champion, Renaux. While Gajser kept the Frenchman honest for the entire 30-minute and two lap duration of the race, he was ultimately denied victory with ‘The Rookie’ holding on for a thrilling race win – his second of the season.
Starts were of the essence at the Xanadu-Arroyomolinos circuit, with the tight and twisty, rough and rutty clay-based venue proving difficult to pass on. Coldenhoff started fifth, despite feeling dizzy after a big crash on the sighting lap. Nevertheless, he managed to control the position to the flag.
At the same time, Seewer started on the cusp of the top-10 but spectacularly crashed out of seventh on lap-5. Fortunately, the ’91’ could make a quick remount and was able to salvage 11th.
Going into Race 2, Renaux was beaming with confidence. The French ace rocketed out of the gate, chasing Coldenhoff and Prado around turn-one. The teammates, ‘Hoff’ and Renaux, swapped second position a few times before Prado fell from the lead.
Once at the forefront, Renaux reveled. The Race 1 winner took full advantage of a clear track and impressively stormed to another stunning race victory to celebrate his first-ever premier class round win with a perfect 50-point score.
Coldenhoff remained unchallenged in second position, while Seewer made significant progress after making changes to his bike set-up and ended his day on a positive note in fourth.
After a memorable weekend in Spain, Renaux has strengthened his grip on second position in the MXGP Championship Standings. He now has a 46-point advantage over Seewer in third, while Coldenhoff remains fifth.
The MXGP of Spain was the first of three back-to-back Grands Prix. The next round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place in Ernee, France on the weekend of June 5th.

“Before Argentina, we did some testing and we made some big improvements in all areas, so we are on the way up. Yesterday was really good to win the qualifying heat, which gave me a good gate pick for today. Before the first moto, I made a huge crash, there was so much water on the track and I did not see it, so before I knew it, I was down on the ground. So, I felt a bit dizzy for the first moto, which was really tough for me, but I still managed to get a fifth. In the second moto I had a good start and a good fight with Maxime. I was following Max, but he was a bit too strong today, so 5-2 was the result. Another good weekend and like I said, it will only go up from here.”

“Overall, this has been a weekend to forget. I did turn it around a little bit in the second moto, but still, I just seem to struggle here even though I did arrive here happy and confident. I was better this year than last year, but I just made mistakes at the worst time and did not feel good on the bike. I don’t think my riding was too bad, but I couldn’t find my rhythm on this track. I made some changes to the bike set-up for the second moto, and it feels like we always find the right set-up then, but that’s something we need to work on. But for now, I am looking forward to the next GP’s. Some of my all-time favourite tracks are coming like Ernee and Teutschenthal, so I hope to find a good combination between me and the bike there, and then I can be much better.”
