MONACO (Principato di Monaco) settembre 2021 – Con il Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations nello specchietto retrovisore, è tempo di riportare l’attenzione sul Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross mentre la caccia al titolo si scalda.
Per l’ 11° round della serie, MXGP finalmente torna in Teutschenthal, in Germania per la prima volta dal 2019, dopo COVID-19 restrizioni impediscono il Gran Premio di andare avanti la scorsa stagione. Ma con questo alle spalle, è tempo di godersi il MXGP della Germania .
La pista di Teutschenthal fa parte del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross sin dagli anni ’70 e ha ospitato per la prima volta un Gran Premio 250cc nel 1971, poi vinto dal sei volte campione del mondo Joël Robert. Da allora, la sede tedesca ha ospitato un Gran Premio 24 volte, con quest’anno è il 25°.
Oltre all’azione principale di MXGP e MX2, le gare di questo fine settimana vedranno anche i round tre e cinque dei campionati EMX125 e EMX250 mentre i piloti del Fantic Factory Team Maddii Haakon Osterhagen e Nicholas Lapucci cercheranno di mantenere un sano vantaggio sul loro più vicino rivali in campionato Valerio Lata di MRT Racing Team KTM (EMX125) e Kevin Horgmo (EMX250) di SM Action Racing Team mentre questo fine settimana ospiterà anche un round della Junior e-motocross Series dopo il successo del primo appuntamento dello scorso weekend a Mantova .

In MXGP, abbiamo raggiunto un punto cruciale nella caccia al campionato, poiché Jeffrey Herlings della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing entrerà nel Gran Premio di Germania con la tabella rossa. L’olandese ha solo un punto di vantaggio su Tim Gajser del Team HRC che ha perso la testa della classifica a Riola Sardo dopo due gare difficili. A quanto pare, lo sloveno era infatti alle prese con un infortunio alla clavicola, ma ora con un paio di settimane di riposo, non c’è dubbio che il pilota ufficiale della Honda sarà in grado di recuperare punti vitali per mantenere serrata la battaglia per il titolo. L’ultima volta nel 2019, Gajser ha vinto entrambe le gare a Teutschenthal, quindi non c’è dubbio che vorrà fare lo stesso anche questa volta.
Un altro pilota che cercherà di fare lo stesso è Antonio Cairoli della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing che ha perso punti anche in Sardegna. Il 9 volte campione del mondo è stato costretto a saltare l’MXGP della Sardegna a causa di un grosso incidente nelle prove cronometrate, che ha spezzato il cuore all’italiano. Cairoli ora entrerà nel Gran Premio di Germania sulla scia di una storica vittoria al Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations con il Team Italia, un titolo che Cairoli non aveva mai vinto prima. E con la fiducia in più e aumentare la motivazione da questa incredibile vittoria, non c’è dubbio che Cairoli sarà più motivato che mai per andare al 10° titolo mondiale per la sua stagione finale di GP.
Attualmente al terzo posto nella classifica MXGP c’è Romain Febvre del Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team che è finalmente tornato sul podio in Sardegna, finendo terzo assoluto. Ora l’obiettivo per il francese è rimanere coerente e mantenere le cose vicine poiché è a soli quattro punti da Herlings con otto round dalla fine.
Jorge Prado della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing è il prossimo in campionato. Attualmente è a 359 punti, 12 punti in meno rispetto al leader. Questa è solo la seconda stagione per lo spagnolo nella classe MXGP, ma dimostra costantemente di avere le carte in regola per correre con i leader, poiché le statistiche mostrano che finora ha guidato i giri al comando di chiunque altro in questa stagione. Ha anche quattro podi GP e due vittorie di gare al suo attivo, quindi sarà interessante vedere quali risultati può fornire questo fine settimana.
In questa seconda metà della stagione, sarebbe bello vedere Jeremy Seewer, Glenn Coldenhoff e Ben Watson di Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing combattere più avanti nel campo, con il trio che mostra un buon potenziale finora. Sia Coldenhoff che Watson hanno avuto delle belle battaglie a Mantova lo scorso fine settimana al Monster Energy FIM MXoN, con Watson che ha vinto la classifica generale in MXGP, che sarà senza dubbio un enorme aumento di fiducia e con ciò si spera che possa ottenere risultati simili nel FIM Motocross Campionato Mondiale.
Nel frattempo, Thomas Kjer Olsen e Arminas Jasikonis di Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing entreranno nelle gare in Germania più motivati che mai dopo le loro ottime prestazioni al Monster Energy FIM MXoN. Olsen ha vinto la gara 1 di MXoN, mentre Jasikonis ha combattuto bene all’interno della top 5, quindi non c’è dubbio che la coppia vorrà portare questi risultati in MXGP.
Il prossimo fine settimana vedrà la gara di casa di Henry Jacobi di JM Honda Racing insieme a Tom Koch, Tim Koch, Stefan Ekerold e Mike Stender di SHR Motorsports del KTM Kosak Team .

In MX2, la caccia al titolo è leggermente diversa poiché Maxime Renaux di Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing ne ha attualmente il pieno controllo. Ha 71 punti di vantaggio sul suo rivale più vicino Mattia Guadagnini della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing , ma ovviamente tutto può succedere a otto round dalla fine, quindi il francese non può permettersi di rilassarsi.
Per Guadagnini le prossime gare saranno importanti perché dovrà dare dei risultati positivi. Ripensando alle sue ottime prestazioni sul duro, a Matterley Basin, Maggiora e Loket, questo fine settimana potrebbe essere l’occasione per vederlo di nuovo sul podio.
Ma se mettiamo da parte la caccia al titolo, non c’è dubbio che questo fine settimana vedremo un’altra classica battaglia tra Renaux e Tom Vialle della Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. Mentre Vialle potrebbe essere fuori dalla corsa per il campionato in questa stagione a causa di un infortunio che lo ha visto saltare diversi GP, questo non significa che non continuerà a lottare per vittorie e podi. Negli ultimi tre GP abbiamo visto il pilota della KTM conquistare tre vittorie consecutive in GP e questo fine settimana sarà un’altra opportunità per aggiungerlo, dato che il terreno duro si adatterà al francese.
Jago Geerts e Thibault Benistant di Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing sono attualmente terzo e quarto nella classifica del campionato ed entrambi hanno la possibilità di ottenere risultati eccellenti questo fine settimana. Mentre Geerts si aspettava di lottare tra i primi in Sardegna, la realtà è stata diversa poiché gli incidenti gli sono costati ancora una volta posizioni e punti vitali, quindi sarà necessaria una giornata più coerente. Nel frattempo Benistant potrebbe avere la possibilità di puntare a un’altra vittoria in gara come ha fatto a Maggiora e a Loket. Benistant ha fatto solo una apparizione sul podio in questa stagione, ma questo fine settimana forse potremmo vederlo aggiungerne un altro.
Ci si possono aspettare ottimi risultati anche da Jed Beaton e Kay de Wolf di Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing, poiché la coppia ha ottenuto molti risultati positivi e diversi podi in questa stagione finora. de Wolf ha aggiunto un altro piazzamento tra i primi tre in Sardegna piazzandosi terzo assoluto, ottenendo già tre podi nella sua stagione da rookie, il che è piuttosto impressionante.
Mathys Boisrame di F&H Kawasaki Racing mirerà ancora una volta a salire sul podio questo fine settimana dopo essere arrivato terzo assoluto a Teutschenthal nel 2019. Anche se non ha avuto il miglior weekend a Mantova per il Monster Energy FIM MXoN, non c’è dubbio sarà entusiasta di lasciarsi questo alle spalle e ottenere alcuni risultati positivi al suo attivo.
Simon Längenfelder di DIGA PROCROSS GASGAS FACTORY RACING così come Nico Greutmann , Marnique Appelt di Raths Motorsports , Paul Haberland di KMP HONDA RACING e Noah Ludwig si schiereranno a Teutschenthal per il loro Gran Premio di casa mentre inseguiranno i migliori risultati sul terreno di casa.

The Battle for the Title Continues This Weekend in Teutschenthal
MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 29 September 2021 – With the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to shift the focus back to the FIM Motocross World Championship as the title chase heats up.
For the 11th round of the series, MXGP finally heads back to Teutschenthal, Germany for the first time since 2019, after COVID-19 restrictions prevent the Grand Prix from going ahead last season. But with that now behind us, it’s time to enjoy the MXGP of Germany.
The hardpack track of Teutschenthal has been part of the FIM Motocross World Championship since the 70’s and first hosted a 250cc Grand Prix in 1971 which was then won by the six-time world champion Joël Robert. Since then, the German venue has hosted a Grand Prix 24 times, with this year being the 25th.
Alongside the main MXGP and MX2 action, this weekend’s races will also see the rounds three and five of the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing and EMX250 championships as Fantic Factory Team Maddii riders Haakon Osterhagen and Nicholas Lapucci will look to maintain a healthy lead over their closest championship rivals Valerio Lata of MRT Racing Team KTM (EMX125) and SM Action Racing Team’s Kevin Horgmo (EMX250) while this weekend will also host a round of the Junior e-motocross Series after the success of the first appointment taking place last weekend in Mantova.
In MXGP, we have reached a crucial point in the championship chase, as Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings will enter the German Grand Prix with the red plate. The Dutchman has just a one-point advantage over Team HRC’s Tim Gajser who lost the championship lead in Riola Sardo after two tough races. As it turns out, the Slovenian was in fact struggling with a collarbone injury, but now with a couple of weeks of rest, there is no doubt that the factory Honda rider will be able to claw back vital points to keep the title battle tight. Last time around in 2019, Gajser went on to win both races in Teutschenthal, so there’s no doubt he will want to do the same this time too.
Another rider that will be looking to do the same is Antonio Cairoli of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing who also lost points in Sardinia. The 9-time world champion was forced to sit out the MXGP of Sardegna due to a big crash in time practice, which was heart breaking for the Italian. Cairoli will now enter the German Grand Prix off the back of a historic victory at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations with Team Italy, a title that Cairoli had not won before. And with the extra confidence and motivation boost from this incredible victory, there is no doubt that Cairoli will be more motivated than ever to go after that 10th world title for his final season of GP racing.
Currently sitting third in the MXGP standings is Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre who finally returned to the podium in Sardinia, finishing third overall. Now the focus for the Frenchman is to stay consistent and keep things close as he is just four points behind Herlings with eight rounds to go.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado is next in the championship. He is currently on 359 points, 12 points down on the leader. This is just the second season for the Spaniard in the MXGP class but he’s constantly showing that he has what it takes to run with the leaders, as the stats show that he has led laps than anyone else this season so far. He also has four GP podiums and two race wins under his belt, so it will be interesting to see what results he can deliver this weekend.
In this second half of the season, it would be great to see Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer, Glenn Coldenhoff and Ben Watson battling further up the field, with the trio showing good potential so far. Both Coldenhoff and Watson had some good battles in Mantova this past weekend at the Monster Energy FIM MXoN, with Watson winning the overall in MXGP, which will no doubt be a huge confidence boost and with that hopefully he can deliver similar results in the FIM Motocross World Championship.
Meanwhile, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Kjer Olsen and Arminas Jasikonis will enter the races in Germany more motivated than ever after their strong performances at the Monster Energy FIM MXoN. Olsen won the MXoN race 1, while Jasikonis battled well inside the top 5, so there is no doubt that the pair will want to bring these results to MXGP.
This upcoming weekend will see the home race of JM Honda Racing’s Henry Jacobi along with the likes of KTM Kosak Team’s Tom Koch, Tim Koch, Stefan Ekerold and Mike Stender of SHR Motorsports.

In MX2, the title chase is a little different as Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux currently has full control of that. He is 71 points ahead of his closest rival Mattia Guadagnini of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, but of course anything can happen with eight rounds to go, so the Frenchman cannot afford to relax.
For Guadagnini, the next races will be important as he will need to deliver on some positive results. Looking back on his strong performances on the hard pack, in Matterley Basin, Maggiora and Loket, this weekend could be an occasion that we see him back on the podium again.
But if we put the title chase aside, there is no doubt that this weekend we will see another classic battle between Renaux and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle. While Vialle might be out of the running for the championship this season due to an injury which saw him miss several GPs, this doesn’t mean that he won’t continue to challenge for Grand Prix wins and podiums. In the last three GPs we’ve seen the KTM rider take three consecutive GP victories and this weekend will be another opportunity to add to that, as the hardpack will suit the Frenchman.
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jago Geerts and Thibault Benistant are currently third and fourth in the championship standings and both have a chance to go for some top results this weekend. While Geerts expected to be fighting at the front in Sardinia, the reality was different as crashes once again cost him vital positions and points, so a more consistent day will be much needed. Meanwhile Benistant could have a chance to go for another race win as he did in Maggiora and Loket. Benistant has made only one podium appearance this season but this weekend maybe we could see him add another.
Some strong results can also be expected of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Jed Beaton and Kay de Wolf as the pair have delivered plenty of positive results and several podiums this season so far. de Wolf added another top three finish in Sardinia as he placed third overall, making it three podiums in his rookie season already, which is quite impressive.
F&H Kawasaki Racing’s Mathys Boisrame will once again aim to go for a podium spot this weekend after he finished third overall in Teutschenthal back in 2019. While he didn’t have the best weekend in Mantova for the Monster Energy FIM MXoN, there is no doubt he will be keen on putting this behind him and get some positive results under his belt.
