L’accordo con AMA Supercross e la FIM si conclude!!!
Come diretta conseguenza dell’impatto della pandemia di Coronavirus (COVID-19) in corso, Feld Motors Sports – i promotori del campionato Monster Energy AMA Supercross hanno confermato oggi che purtroppo non rinnoveranno il loro accordo sanzionatorio internazionale con la FIM, in quanto la serie torna a una serie nazionale dalla prossima stagione in poi, sotto il controllo dell’American Motorcyclist Association (AMA).
L’accordo di doppia sanzione di lunga data è in vigore da due decenni e ha visto una relazione forte e di successo forgiata tra la FIM, la Feld Entertainment e l’AMA. Il coinvolgimento della FIM è iniziato all’inizio del nuovo millennio, in un momento in cui l’espansione internazionale degli eventi era vista come la prossima area di crescita per lo sport. Dal 2002 al 2006, la serie è iniziata a dicembre e ha visitato Svizzera, Olanda, Spagna e Canada prima di stabilirsi in un programma domestico ricorrente.
Dal 2008, Toronto – Canada è diventata una tappa fissa del tour ed è stata l’unica tappa internazionale fino alla stagione 2017. La cancellazione e il rinvio di diversi eventi a causa delle restrizioni COVID-19 ha visto Feld Entertainment riorientare i propri eventi dal vivo in Nord America, adottando al contempo un briefing in termini di domanda nei mercati internazionali che torna ai livelli pre-pandemia.
Il campionato Monster Energy AMA Supercross continua ad attirare alcuni dei migliori talenti da tutti gli angoli della sua nazione d’origine e da tutto il mondo, inclusa una forte rappresentanza da Germania, Francia, Giappone e Australia. Inoltre, Feld Entertainment continuerà anche ad espandere le sue partnership globali e accordi di licenza oltre alla diffusione della TV in tutto il mondo, anche attraverso la propria piattaforma di visualizzazione che ora vanta abbonati in oltre centotredici paesi.
Commenta Jorge Viegas – Presidente FIM ha detto. “In primo luogo, vorrei dire un enorme grazie a Feld Entertainment non solo per una partnership così lunga e fantastica, ma anche per il loro immenso lavoro nel rendere il Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship il meraviglioso prodotto che è oggi. Credo fermamente che in circostanze normali si tratta di un accordo che sarebbe stato prorogato per un ulteriore periodo e che avrebbe continuato a rafforzarsi. Detto questo, comprendiamo appieno la situazione attuale e rispettiamo la decisione che è stata presa. Con il continuo supporto della nostra federazione nazionale in Nord America, l’AMA, sono fiducioso che la serie riprenderà presto i livelli di cui godeva prima della pandemia e che in futuro avremo l’opportunità di esplorare un nuovo accordo. Monster Energy AMA Supercross Agreement With FIM Comes To A Close
As a direct result on the impact of the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Feld Motors Sports – the promoters of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship have today confirmed that they unfortunately will not renew their international sanctioning agreement with the FIM, as the series reverts back to a domestic series from next season onward, under the control of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA).
The long standing dual sanctioning agreement has been in place for the last two-decades and has seen a strong and successful relationship forged between the FIM, Feld Entertainment and the AMA. The FIM’s involvement started early in the new millennium, at a time when the international expansion of events was seen as the next growth area for the sport. From 2002 through to 2006, the series started in December and visited Switzerland, Holland, Spain and Canada before settling into a recurring domestic schedule.
From 2008, Toronto – Canada became a regular stop on the tour and served as the lone international round through until the 2017 season. The cancellation and postponement of several events due to COVID-19 restrictions has seen Feld Entertainment refocus their live events in North America, whilst adopting a watching brief in terms of the demand in international markets returning to pre-pandemic levels.
The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship continues to attract the some of the best talent from all corners of its home nation and from across the World, including strong representation from Germany, France, Japan and Australia. Additionally, Feld Entertainment will also continue to expand its global partnerships and licensing agreements plus world-wide TV outreach including through its own viewing platform that now boasts subscribers in over one hundred and thirteen countries.

I firmly believe under normal circumstances that this is an agreement that would have been extended for a further period and that would have continued to go from strength to strength. That said we fully understand the current situation and respect the decision that has been taken. With the ongoing support of our national federation in North America – the AMA – I am confident that the series will soon recover the levels it enjoyed before the pandemic and that in the future we will have the opportunity to explore a new agreement. In the meantime, on behalf of the FIM I would like to wish our American friends every success.”
