FRAUENFELD-GACHNANG (Svizzera) 15 Agosto 2018 – MXGP è in Switzerland questo fine settimana per la versione 2018 della MXGP della Svizzera. Dopo una settimana di stop per recuperare dalla sabbia brutale di Lommel, i piloti ed equipaggio MXGP arriveranno a Frauenfeld-Gachnang per il primo dei 3 back to back week-end di gare. Selvaggiamente diverse condizioni dalla superficie soffice e profonda in Belgio la pista Schweizer Zucker sarà un’altra sfida per i migliori piloti e squadre del mondo.

A parte MXGP e MX2 questo fine settimana EMX125 e EMX250 correranno sia Sabato e Domenica. Nella classe EMX250 Mathys Boisrame dal team Honda Assomotor conduce il campionato con soli 2 punti dopo REVO Husqvarna UK Mel Pocock che ha preso la sua prima vittoria assoluta della stagione in Belgio per stringere la lotta al titolo. Nel frattempo EMX125 ha avuto una nuova tabella rossa nelle mani della EMX125 Thibault Benistant visto che Rene Hofer ha subito un infortunio fine stagione un paio di settimane fa.

Leader dei punto di MXGP, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jeffrey Herlings è ora a 36 punti di vantaggio dal suo compagno di squadra Antonio Cairoli ma con 250 punti ancora in palio, o anche tanti da perdere, il campionato è tutt’altro che finito.

Herlings è stato il migliore degli ultimi gp soprattutto nella sabbia di Lommel, ma mentre lui può avere lo slancio dalla sua parte, Cairoli sta tornando in piena salute e fitness e ha vinto qui nel 2016 e ha raggiunto il podio lo scorso anno. Tuttavia Herlings aspetta solitario in Svizzera il risultato dell’ultima stagione con una vittoria per l’olandese.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team Clement Desalle ha mantenuto il 3° in campionato ed è ancora l’unico pilota a battere Herlings e Cairoli. Desalle nel curriculum svizzero è debole anche se con un 10° nel 2016 e 12° l’anno scorso. Desalle sarà interessante da vedere questo fine settimana dopo esser venuto fuori da un difficile GP di casa dove è stato ad un certo punto doppiato da Herlings.

Del Team HRC Tim Gajser ha potuto lottare per la vittoria questa settimana, come lo stile della pista svizzera si articola con la lui. Gajser ha preso il 6° l’anno scorso, ma è stato secondo nel 2016 ed è stato in miglioramento come la stagione è proseguita.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory di MXGP Romain Febvre ha sfiorato il podio in Belgio con Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Max Anstie. Febvre ha preso il quarto qui nel 2017 con Anstie il 5°. Anstie comunque ha vinto la classe MX2 nel 2016, mentre Febvre ha preso il 3° in MXGP.

Uno dei più forti da Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing compagno di squadra di Anstie, Gautier Paulin, è venuto qui l’anno scorso quando si è messo tra la KTM di Herlings e Cairoli a prendere 2° assoluto.

Da guardare questo fine settimana è Wilvo Yamaha ufficiale MXGP Jeremy Seewer per diversi motivi. In primo luogo Seewer è un nativo svizzero che avrà il pubblico di casa dietro di lui con la motivazione dei suoi sponsor e ha appena firmato con Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP per il 2019. Seewer è salito sul podio in MX2 negli ultimi due anni con un paio di 2° posti assoluti.

In MX2 Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Jorge Prado ha mostrato ai suoi compagni di squadra più anziani KTM da MXGP quanto velocemente le cose possono cambiare nella corsa per un titolo. Prado e Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Pauls Jonass sono stati in lotta per il campionato nel condurre le gare e ha preso Jonass con quasi 30 punti di distacco in pochi week-end.

La questione ora è se Prado può mantenere il suo vantaggio o se Jonass è in grado di rispondere. Jonass prese 3° qui nel 2017 dietro Seewer e Benoit Paturel che si sono spostati alla classe MXGP. Prado ha preso il 5° l’anno scorso, ma rimane la più grande minaccia e favorito per la vittoria questo fine settimana.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Thomas Kjer Olsen tiene il 3° nel campionato attualmente ed è tornato sul podio MX2 in Belgio insieme al suo Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing compagno di squadra Thomas Covington. Olsen ha 2 top ten in Svizzera con un 6 e 8 nel 2016 e il 2017, mentre Covington si è esibito un po ‘meglio con un 4° lo scorso anno e 7° nel 2016.

Di Kemea Yamaha uff MX2 Ben Watson sarà una minaccia per il podio questo fine settimana. L’anno scorso Watson era settimo, ma ha migliorato notevolmente da quando era in sella e ben figurato nell’ultima gara difficile in Repubblica Ceca prima di schiantarsi.

Kemea Yamaha ufficiale MX2 Il compagno di squadra di Watson, Jago Geerts ha intensificato la sfida di Lommel per uno dei suoi migliori gp davanti ai tifosi di casa e sarà anche uno da guardare con la sua fiducia appena aggiunta. Entrambi i piloti Kemea Yamaha correranno con la nuova YZ250F 2019 in Svizzera.

Del Team HRC Calvin Vlaanderen sarà un altro pilota MX2 da tenere d’occhio con i suoi solidi risultati, ultimamente avrebbe potuto segnare il suo secondo posto assoluto dell’anno in Svizzera. Vlaanderen era 5° su questo circuito nel 2016 e ha preso 9° l’anno scorso.

MXGP Back to Racing in Switzerland

FRAUENFELD-GACHNANG (Switzerland) 15 August 2018 – MXGP is in Swtizerland this weekend for the 2018 version of the MXGP of Switzerland presented by iXS. After a week to recover from the brutal sand in Lommel, MXGP riders and crew will arrive in Frauenfeld-Gachnang for the first of 3 back to back weekends of racing. Wildly different conditions from the soft and deep surface in Belgium the Schweizer Zucker track will be another challenge for the world’s best riders and teams.

Aside from MXGP and MX2 this weekend EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing and EMX250 will race over both Saturday and Sunday. In the EMX250 class Mathys Boisrame from the Honda Red Moto Assomotor team leads the championship by only 2 points after REVO Husqvarna UK’s Mel Pocock took his first overall win of the season in Belgium to tighten the title fight. Meanwhile EMX125 presented by FMF Racing has had the red plate switch into the hands of Yamaha Europe EMX125’s Thibault Benistant as KTM Junior Racing’s Rene Hofersuffered a season ending injury a few weeks ago.

MXGP’s point leader, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings is now 36 points ahead of his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Antonio Cairoli but with 250 points still up for grabs, or even too lose, the championship is far from over.

Herlings has been the favorite the past several races especially at the sand of Lommel but while he may have momentum on his side, Cairoli is returning to full health and fitness plus he won here in 2016 and reached the podium last year. However Herlings’ lone appearance in Switzerland last season result in a win for the Dutchman.

Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Clement Desalle has maintained 3rd in the championship and is still the only rider to beat Herlings and Cairoli. Desalle’ Swiss resume is weak though with a 10th in 2016 and 12th last year. Desalle will be interesting to watch this weekend coming off a difficult home GP where he was at one point lapped by Herlings.

Team HRC’s Tim Gajser could be fighting for the win this week as the style of the Swiss track meshes well with his own. Gajser took 6th last year but was 2nd here in 2016 and has been improving as the season has continued on.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Romain Febvre just missed the podium in Belgium to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Anstie. Febvre took fourth here in 2017 with Anstie in 5th. Anstie however won the MX2 class in 2016 while Febvre took 3rd in MXGP.

One of the strongest performances from Anstie’s Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing teammate, Gautier Paulin, came here last year when he split the KTM’s of Herlings and Cairoli to take 2nd overall.

Also to watch this weekend is Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer for several reasons. Firstly Seewer is a Swiss native who will have the home fans behind him along with motivation from his home sponsor iXS and he has just signed with Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP for 2019. Seewer has finished on the MX2 podium the past two years with a pair of 2nd place finishes.

In MX2 Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado has shown his older KTM teammates from MXGP just how quickly things can change in the chase for a title. Prado and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass have been fighting for the championship lead the past races which has taken Jonass from the top to nearly 30 points behind in only a few weekends.

The question now is whether or not Prado can maintain his lead or if Jonass can respond. Jonass took 3rd here in 2017 behind Seewer and Marchetti Racing Team KTM’s Benoit Paturel who have both moved to the MXGP class. Prado took 5th last year but remains the biggest threat and favorite for the win this weekend.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Kjer Olsen holds 3rd in the championship currently and returned to the MX2 podium in Belgium along with his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing teammate Thomas Covington. Olsen has 2 top ten finishes in Switzerland with 6th and 8th in 2017 and 2016 while Covington has performed slightly better with a 4th last year and 7th in 2016.

Kemea Yamaha Official MX2 team’s Ben Watson will be a threat for the podium this weekend. Last year Watson was 7th but has improved greatly since and was riding well at the last hard pack race in Czech Republic before crashing out.

Watson’s Kemea Yamaha Official MX2 Teammate Jago Geerts stepped up to the challenge of Lommel for one of his best rides in front of home fans and will also be one to watch with his newly added confidence. Both Kemea Yamaha riders will race the new 2019 YZ250F in Switzerland as well.

Team HRC’s Calvin Vlaanderen will be another MX2 rider to keep an eye on with his solid results lately he could score his second overall of the year in Switzerland. Vlaanderen was 5th at this circuit in 2016 and took 9th last year.
