RIOLA SARDO REPORT

La stagione agonistica 2018 si è ufficialmente aperta oggi a Riola Sardo. Dopo due giorni di vento e pioggia finalmente il bel tempo l’ha fatta da padrone e i 105 piloti in gara nelle tre categorie hanno potuto dar vita a manche spettacolari ed emozionanti davanti ai 5000 spettatori accorsi da ogni angolo dell’isola.
MX1
Dopo aver fatto segnare il miglior tempo, 24MX fast lap, nelle prove cronometrate, Antonio Cairoli fa suo anche il Just1Hole-Shot della gara della MX1. Da quel momento per il 9 volte Campione del Mondo è stata una cavalcata solitaria fino alla bandiera a scacchi. Alle sue spalle un consistente Max Anstie, mentre Jeremy Van Horebeek si prende l’ultimo gradino del podio proprio all’ultimo passaggio ai danni di Gautier Paulin. Quinto e sesto sono rispettivamente Romain Febvre e Shaun Simpson i quali precedono un intramontabile Tanel Leok. Buon esordio nella MX1 per Jeremy Seewer che “ruba” l’ottava piazza ad Alessandro Lupino nelle ultime battute della manche. Chiude la Top Ten Arminas Jasikonis, all’esordio su Honda. Proprio nelle primissime battute di gara, è uscito di scena uno dei possibili protagonisti; parliamo di Jeffrey Herlings che è rimasto coinvolto in una caduta alla prima curva. Per lui una contusione alla spalla che gli ha fatto prendere la via dei box.
MX2
Prima uscita ufficiale anche per i protagonisti della MX2 sullo spettacolare circuito sardo. Il migliore è stato l’australiano della Honda Hunter Lawrence, che ha saputo portare a termine una gara attenta e grintosa sulla difficile sabbia di Riola. Al secondo posto un ottimo Pauls Jonass, che nelle prime fasi della gara ha commesso un errore che lo ha costretto a rimontare diverse posizioni. Non facile superare su questo circuito, che in molti utilizzano per allenarsi, ma il Campione del Mondo MX2 del 2017 in sella alla sua KTM factory non ha mai mollato, conquistando un ottimo risultato che lo mantiene tra i pretendenti al titolo degli Internazionali d’Italia di quest’anno. Ha completato il podio sardo il pilota della Honda HRC Calvin Vlaanderen. Autore del Just1 Holeshot, il giovane danese Mikkel Haarup all’esordio sulla 250.
ELITE
Non fosse stato per due giri a metà manche in cui Cairoli ha ridotto il ritmo facendo sfilare prima Anstie e poi Febvre, la trama della Elite sarebbe stata identica a quella della MX1. Il nove volte iridato è scattato ancora al comando, conquistando il Just1 Holeshot, ed ha impresso sin da subito un ritmo impossibile per tutti. Già dopo due curve Cairoli aveva allungato su Max Anstie, Van Horebeek e Febvre che lo seguivano. A metà gara il vantaggio era più che consolidato, ma Cairoli ha calato l’andatura fino a scendere al terzo posto, dietro il nuovo leader Max Anstie e Romain Febvre. L’allarme è subito rientrato, quando Cairoli ha ripreso a girare a pieno ritmo, riportandosi in soli due giri a ridosso dei primi, continuando a spingere fino alla vittoria. Si conferma secondo di giornata Max Anstie che ha convinto per velocità e feeling con la nuova moto. Alla sue spalle il duo Yamaha Rinaldi con un Febvre terzo e molto determinato per più di metà gara e Van Horebeek quarto. Quinto Paulin Gautier, che paga una partenza non brillante, mentre il primo pilota della MX2 Pauls Jonass chiude sesto.
125cc
I giovanissimi in sella alle 2 tempi hanno dato spettacolo sull’insidiosa sabbia sarda e a conquistare l’assoluta è stato Mattia Guadagnini che ha dimostrato di essere in ottima forma e di aver trovato il giusto feeling con la sua Husqvarna. Il pilota del Team Maddii Racing ha conquistato un secondo posto nella prova di apertura e ha vinto nella seconda manche. Secondo a pari punti (frutto di un primo e un secondo posto) un altro italiano, Emilio Scuteri, sulla KTM del Team Celestini Junior. I due piloti hanno battagliato durante entrambe le manche e nella seconda Scuteri era al comando, prima che Guadagnini riuscisse ad avere la meglio. Sul terzo gradino del podio sale l’olandese della Yamaha Rick Elzinga che ha sempre concluso alle spalle dei due protagonisti della giornata. Autore del Holeshot il sorprendente Alberto Barcella.

RIOLA SARDO REPORT
The 2018 racing season has been officially opened today in Riola Sardo. After two windy and rainy days, finally the nice weather arrived and the 105 riders, divided in three categories, could race spectacular and exciting manches in front of about 5.000 spectators coming from allover the island. Great success also for the live streaming on Facebook and on the website that scored more than 200.000 views during the day.
MX1
After having realized the 24MX fast lap in the timed practice, Antonio Cairoli takes also the Just1 Holeshot in the MX1 race. From that moment the World Champion made a lonely ride till the chequered flag. Behind him, a consistent Max Anstie, while Jeremy Van Horebeek takes the lowest step of the podium at the last lap, passing Paulin Gautier. Fifth and sixth classified respectively Romain Febvre and Shaun Simpson, in front of the old lion Tanel Leok. Great debut in MX1 for Jeremy Seewer, who gains the eighth position during the last laps against Alessandro Lupino. Top ten is completed by Arminas Jasikonis, at his debut on Honda. At the start, one of the protagonists went out of the race: Jeffrey Herlings felt down at the first corner. A contusion for his shoulder made him go directly to the box.
MX2
First official race even for the MX2 protagonists on the spectacular Sardinian circuit. The best one has been the Australian rider of Honda, Hunter Lawrence, who raced aggressively, paying attention to the difficult sand of Riola. At the second place a great Pauls Jonass, had to recover positions after a mistke in the first part of the race. It’s not easy to pass on this circuit, mainly used for trainings, but the 2017 MX2 World Champion did not give up on his KTM Factory and gained a very important result, that keep him among the fighters for the Internazionali d’Italia Title. The podium has been completed with the Honda HRC rider Calvin Vlandereen, while the Just1 Holeshot gained by the young Danish Mikkel Haarup, at his debut on 250.
ELITE
It wouldn’t have been for two laps, at half race, when Cairoli reduced the pace, allowing Anstie and then Febvre to pass him, the story of Supercampione Final will have been the same of MX1 race. The nine times World Champion has leaded since the start, winning the Just1 Holeshot and racing on a pace, impossible to keep for everyone else. After the first two corners, Cairoli had already created the gap respect to his followers: Max Anstie, Van Horebeek and Febvre. At half race his advantage was already consistent, but Cairoli reduced his rhythm till to be third in a short time, behind the new leader Max Anstie and Romain Febvre. The alarm was promptly solved, when Cairoli begins again to race at full rhythm and newly takes the lead in two laps, going fast towards the final victory.
Max Anstie, thanks to his speed and great feeling with the bike, confirmed himself overall second placed. Behind him the two Yamaha Rinaldi mates: very determined was Febvre, third classified, followed by Van Horebeek in fourth position. Fifth place for Paulin Gautier, after a difficult start, while the MX2 first rider is Pauls Jonass, who finished in sixth position.
125cc
The youngest riders on two strokes bikes made show on the sand in Sardinia. Mattia Guadagnini won the overall classification, demonstrating to his good feeling with his Husqvarna. The Maddii racing Team rider gained the second position in the first race and won the second manche. Another Italian rider, Emilio Scuteri, from KTM Celestini Junior Team, was second placed with the same points (after a first and second classified in the two manches). The two riders fighted during both the finals: during the second one Scuteri was leader before Guadagnini passed him and took the overall victory. The Yamaha Dutch rider Tick Elzing jumped on the third step of the podium, while the surprising Alberto Barcella won the Just1 Huleshot.
