I commenti dei piloti dal GP in FRANCIA, la 19a e ULTIMA tappa del Campionato del Mondo FIM Motocross 2017, Jeffrey Herlings vince la terza gara consecutiva, secondo Gajser e terzo dopo un bel duello Max Anstie, il Campionato si chiude con Tony Campione, Herlings secondo e molti buoni propositi per la prossima stagione, con terzo assoluto Gautier Paulin! La MX2 vede chiudere il Campionato e la lotta al titolo proprio nell’ultima gara con Pauls Jonass Campione, una pista difficile e molto tecnica per le condizioni avverse che fanno sperare in una rimonta per Jeremy Seewer ma nulla ferma l’asso arancione, così si chiude anche il capitolo MX2, terzo assoluto Olsen! Jeffrey Herlings: L’inizio era fondamentale nel fango. Sono stato coperto all’inizio della prima moto e poi ho avuto un grande incidente e in qualche modo ho perso solo alcune posizioni. Sapevo che sarebbe difficile prendere la vittoria complessiva così ho avuto qualche fortuna. Ho avuto il mio primo holeshot dell’anno nella seconda moto! Ho avuto alcune buone linee e Max anche, è stato difficile passarlo e si doveva essere fortunati con i piloti doppiati, soprattutto negli ultimi due giri quando era davvero liscia. Sei vittorie complessive quest’anno e undici podi: è stato buono e vorrei davvero ringraziare Red Bull KTM. Hanno creduto in me e sono rimasti dietro di me. Ci sono un sacco di buone persone nella squadra e sono tutte motivate. Qualunque cosa ho chiesto hanno cercato di darmela e ogni volta che volevo provare siamo andati. Apprezzo molto il lavoro duro che hanno messo dietro di me e senza di loro non sarei stato in grado di tornare così forte. La seconda parte della stagione eravamo buoni e forti e abbiamo vinto cinque degli ultimi sei GP e sono super pompato. E ‘stata una vergogna per l’inizio e l’infortunio, ma mi sono congratulato con Tony ancora perché era il più coerente e forse anche il pilota più intelligente di questa stagione. Ho imparato molto e ho sottovalutato i ragazzi. Stavo vivendo in una nuvola in inverno e avrei dovuto fare altre cose. Ho avuto un controllo della realtà dal primo turno e sapevo che dovevo cambiare e attaccare il mio programma. Penso che sono buono per l’anno prossimo. La nostra messa a punto della moto è buona ora e abbiamo sperimentato molto. Speriamo che la prossima stagione possa andare avanti con un ulteriore passo avanti “.
Tim Gajser: La stagione per me è andata veramente bene, ho avuto la tabella rossa per i primi quattro round a quando sono caduto in Europa e sono rimasto ferito. Da allora in poi la mia stagione è andata in discesa. Stavo guidando con tanto dolore e non ero nella stessa condizione di prima dell’incidente. Poi mi sono schiantato di nuovo e questo è stato come la mia stagione è andata. Sono contento di finire la stagione forte e oggi mi sono sentito veramente bene nel fango. Ho fatto troppi errori quest’anno e quando commetti un errore finisci per avere infortuni. Le ultime gare in cui sono stato in condizioni molto migliori guidavo bene, ero abbastanza ok. Voglio fare un ringraziamento enorme a tutti intorno a me e alla mia famiglia.
Max Anstie: “Il weekend è iniziato benissimo, con la vittoria nella manche di qualificazione. Anche se non dava punti, è stata importante per me perché è stata comunque la mia prima vittoria di manche nella 450. Poi domenica è piovuto molto, il che ha reso le cose più difficili per tutti. In Gara1 ho fatto il meglio che potevo. Le condizioni erano insidiose, ed era fondamentale evitare gli errori. Il quarto posto mi andava bene, ma ho pensato subito che avrei potuto far meglio in Gara2. Infatti sono partito benissimo, rimanendo davanti per gran parte della gara. Poi ho fatto una bella battaglia con Herlings fino al traguardo.”
MX2 RIDERS PODIUM
Thomas Covington: “È fantastico concludere la stagione con una vittoria di GP in condizioni così difficili. È una grande iniezione di fiducia per l’anno prossimo. In Gara1 ho fatto l’holeshot, che mi ha dato la carica. Il mio obiettivo era soprattutto di restare in piedi senza perdere il mio vantaggio sugli inseguitori, ma la pista era rovinata e difficile. A pochi giri dalla fine, sono rimasto invischiato in un canale, ma per fortuna avevo un margine sufficiente da garantirmi la vittoria di manche. In Gara2 ho fatto di nuovo l’holeshot, ma un paio di piloti mi hanno superato quasi subito. Non mi sono dato per vinto, e ho corso realizzando i sorpassi che mi hanno permesso di concludere secondo al traguardo.”
Hunter Lawrence: “Sono entrato al cancello veramente felice perché ho avuto la prima scelta dopo la vittoria di qualificaz ieri. Nella prima manche era piuttosto bagnato, poichè la pioggia cadde forte ed era veramente fangosa e scivolosa. Era davvero difficile. Comunque ho avuto un buon inizio e ho fatto alcuni passaggi per arrivare al quinto/quarto molto rapidamente. Tuttavia, non ho potuto fare altro con i ragazzi davanti e ho finito quarto. Nella seconda moto sono andato per lottare, ho fatto di tutto, e il mio RM-Z250 è uscito bene e ho tenuto il gas spalancato per uscire in testa. Ho appena messo la testa giù, nei miei giri e aumentato il mio vantaggio e sono stato davvero contento di come è andato tutto. Sono veramente felice per la vittoria e per finire la stagione con una nota alta. Sono pompato perché Thomas Covington stava chiudendo alla fine e stavo solo cercando di non farlo arrivare in quella fase. Guidare una gara davanti è un gioco diverso da venire attraverso il gruppo ma mi è piaciuto e ora vado alla grande in attesa del Motocross delle Nazioni “.
Jed Beaton: Jed Beaton: Il mio sabato è andato abbastanza bene, ho avuto una buona gara di qualificazione che ha significato che ho avuto un buon cancello e questo ha aiutato molto. I miei inizi questo fine settimana erano anche molto meglio. Sono stato un po ‘fortunato con Seewer che si è schiantato nell’ultimo giro della seconda gara e questo mi ha permesso di ottenere il terzo complessivo. Non sono stato in gara in MX2 questa stagione, ma per fortuna Carglass Honda mi ha permesso di cogliere l’opportunità e sono veramente grato per questo. Per avere il terzo posto nella mia quarta gara in MX2 è una sensazione veramente impressionante, è stato bello vedere la squadra così pompata e sono stati così bravi a sistemarmi la moto per me, ho corso solo per la prima volta ad Assen lo scorso fine settimana.
World Champion Motocross MX2 Pauls Jonass: “È stato il mio sogno da quando ho iniziato a correre essere campione del mondo e ho realizzato questo nella prima manche. Ho reso difficile tutto dopo aver sbattuto contro un pilota nella seconda curva, poi mi sono rialzato, ho pulito tutto e sono caduto nella curva successiva! Ho iniziato da ultimo, ma sono riuscito a finire quinto per il campionato. La mia motivazione è stata un po ‘giù per la seconda moto ma mi sono sentito bene alla fine e ho iniziato ad andare meglio. Quindici podi su diciannove gare è una bella stagione e non vedo l’ora di festeggiare con un pò di vacanze! Sono anche felice di concludere l’anno senza lesioni in modo che possiamo andare direttamente in preparazione per il 2018 tra un po ‘di tempo “.
OTHER RIDERS COMMENT
Tony Cairoli: “Sono molto contento della stagione. Abbiamo lavorato per vincere il titolo e lo abbiamo fatto. Nella fase finale della stagione siamo calati, ma lo sapevamo, perché l’obiettivo che conta è stato raggiunto con un ampio margine ed era giusto gestire il vantaggio. Questo weekend è stato più difficile perché ovviamente dopo il titolo e le feste non c’è stato molto tempo per recuperare. Oggi questi “ragazzi” erano molto veloci e c’era da rischiare su un terreno così fangoso, così dopo una caduta in gara due ho preferito fermarmi. Ora voglio recuperare una buona condizione per il Nazioni, dobbiamo provare a portare l’Italia sul podio”.
Gautier Paulin: “Quest’ultimo GP stagionale è stato tosto per tutti. Era freddo, bagnato e molto fangoso. Nonostante queste condizioni, la mia Husqvarna si è comportata alla grande per tutto il weekend. In Gara1 non sono partito benissimo e ho dovuto risalire fino a quinto. Poi in Gara2 la ruota posteriore ha continuato a pattinare dopo il cancelletto, e ho di nuovo dovuto darmi da fare per risalire fino alla top 6. Non ho parole per ringraziare la squadra Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing per tutto l’impegno che ci ha messo durante la stagione. Il terzo posto in campionato mostra che c’è la base per fare un passo ulteriore nel 2018”.
Romain Febvre: “Questo weekend è andato davvero bene. Sono andato bene nella prima corsa oggi e sono finito secondo. Nella seconda gara, sono scivolato sul cancello e ho dovuto partire dall’ultimo ma sono tornato al quarto posto e mi ha messo di avere gli stessi punti come il ragazzo che è finito sul podio. Non era una grande stagione, quindi sono contento che sia finita. Ora possiamo concentrarci sul 2018. ”
Arnaud Tonus: “E ‘stato un weekend positivo. Ho apprezzato molto questo tracciato prima che la pioggia venisse, era così divertente. Nella prima gara ho avuto un piccolo incidente con Shaun, ma siamo rimasti bloccati e abbiamo perso alcuni secondi ma sono tornato al decimo, quindi è stato abbastanza buono e nella seconda gara sono stato quinto. Con tali condizioni, sono contento di questo “.
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “Non è stato super oggi. Ho avuto un paio di grandi incidenti, in entrambe le corse, stupidi e bloccati a causa del fango. Il mio ginocchio non lo sento al 100% e mentalmente è duro perché mi sento come se le cose non stanno andando secondo il mio modo di pensare come quando ho rotto il dito in Russia. Se vedi posso ancora avere gli stessi tempi come i ragazzi davanti pur avendo qualche piccolo infortunio, so quello di cui sono capace quando sono al 100%. Questa stagione è fatta. Ora lavorerò per la prossima stagione “.
Evgeny Bobryshev: Ho avuto un weekend frustrante qui. Entrambe le gare ho avuto un buon inizio, ma nella prima gara sono caduto nella seconda curva, ho finito per essere ultimo, ma sono riuscito ad arrivare all’undicesima posizione. Le condizioni là fuori erano così dure, era davvero difficile evitare di commettere errori. La seconda moto è andata veramente bene, mi sono piazzato quarto per la maggior parte della gara e mi sono sentito fiducioso. Sono stato veramente pompato come sapevo che stavo davanti. Poi ho sbattuto col manubrio con Tonus e sono caduto abbastanza duramente e ho danneggiato il mio pollice. Mi ritirai perché il dolore era troppo. Come risultato, ho fatto la seconda gara. La stagione è finita e voglio davvero dire un grande grazie a tutto il team, Honda e gli sponsor per sette anni insieme ed è un peccato lasciare il gruppo e sono un po ‘triste ma vorrei dire a tutti e alla mia squadra e compagno Tim buona fortuna per il futuro.
Max Nagl: “Questo è stato un GP difficile per me. Tutta la pioggia caduta nel weekend ha reso questo fondo argilloso davvero troppo viscido per correrci. In Gara1 sono partito male e subito dopo mi sono fermato dietro a due piloti che erano caduti. Penso che avrei potuto far meglio di quattordicesimo, ma è andata così. Poi in Gara2 la moto ha pattinato un sacco fuori dal cancelletto, e non ho trovato la velocità per fare una buona partenza. Finire ricoperto di fango già allo start mi ha poi complicato la vita per il resto della manche.”
Glenn Coldenhoff: “La ferita al braccio, conseguente alla caduta in gara due a Assen, è stata molto fastidiosa su una pista in queste condizioni. Non ero certo al meglio e il GP è stato particolarmente difficile ma sono riuscito a raccogliere due risultati nella top-ten e mantenere il decimo posto in classifica finale di campionato. Certo, se prima di Assen era alla mia portata anche il settimo posto finale, in questi due ultimi GP non sono stato fortunato e la caduta nel GP d’Olanda ha un po’ rovinato i miei piani. Almeno sono riuscito a restare nei dieci e ora farò il possibile per tornare a posto per un buon Nazioni. Sento che possiamo vincere quest’anno”.
Kevin Strijbos: “Vorrei ringraziare l’intera squadra per tutto il duro lavoro fatto negli ultimi due anni. E’ stato un peccato che non abbiamo ottenuto i podi che volevamo a causa delle lesioni di cui ho sofferto, ma voglio solo ringraziarli per aver fatto un buon lavoro, tutti hanno lavorato davvero molto con le nuove RM-Z450WS e con tutti i test fatti. È triste lasciare il marchio perché mi sono sempre sentito bene qui, mi sono sempre sentito a casa qui e sulle moto. Ora è il momento di andare avanti, ma non prima di fare un’ultima gara al Motocross delle Nazioni, dove cercherò di fare del mio meglio e di finire alla grande, proprio come ho sempre fatto durante la mia carriera.”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “La pista era veramente difficile. In Gara1 ho corso terzo per la maggior parte del tempo, ma ho fatto un errore e sono caduto a otto minuti dalla fine. Nel complesso non è stata una brutta manche, e sono riuscito a chiudere settimo. Poi in Gara2 non sono scattato un granché bene dal cancelletto, e ho dovuto risalire dalle retrovie. Non è stata la mia miglior manche, e ho chiuso dodicesimo. Ma riguardando indietro, in questo campionato abbiamo vissuto dei momenti fantastici. È stata la mia prima stagione completa in MX2, e non vedo già l’ora che arrivi il 2018. Abbiamo davanti un lungo inverno, e punto a continuare a lavorare per migliorare in tutti gli aspetti, dalla guida alla gestione di gara.”
Conrad Mewse: “Qui in Francia ho avuto un weekend no. Sabato la mia velocità era buona, ma la domenica non sono riuscito a correre come volevo. Ho faticato con le condizioni del fondo, e non riuscendo a partire bene è stato tutto ancora più difficile. La stagione è finita così, ma lavorerò sodo per presentarmi alla prossima ancora più forte.”
KEN DE DYCKER: “Questo è tutto, non posso dire molto in questo momento. Dopo il mio ritiro nella prima manche ad Assen ero molto deluso e ho deciso che era arrivato il momento. Mentalmente questa stagione è stata molto impegnativa, a causa di tutti i piccoli problemi che ho incontrato; dover cambiare squadre durante la stagione e così via. Dopo aver corso al livello più alto per 15 anni le cose sono diventate difficili per me. Vedrò cosa fare dopo, ma in primo luogo, vorrei un po ‘di tempo per riflettere. Per essere onesto ultimamente non ho goduto nel guidare come ho sempre fatto ed è un peccato. Un grande ringraziamento a tutti coloro che mi hanno sostenuto tutto questo tempo, non importa di dove sono o in che modo mi hanno aiutato! ”

Jeffrey Herlings: “I want to say a big congratulations to my teammate Tony; it is his ninth championship and he was the best guy through the season. Today was really good. I came from sixth-seventh to second and caught Tony to win the first moto. I had some wheelspin in the second moto and was in tenth but worked my way to lead in a couple of laps: it was a good moto and I was able to win with a big gap. I’m really happy with my first Dutch GP win on the big bike. I really appreciated the support here today and not just for me but for all the riders. I also happy to get second in the championship and it’s good [considering] where we came from at the beginning of the season.”
Tim Gajser: The season for me started really well, I had the red plate for the first four rounds until I crashed in Europe and got injured. From then on, my season went downhill. I was riding in pain and was not the same condition before the crash. Then I crashed again and that was pretty much how my season has gone. I am glad to finish the season strong and today I felt really good in the mud. I made too many mistakes this year and when I make a mistake I end up injured. The last few races I have been in much better condition and the riding is quite ok. I want to say a huge thanks to everyone around me and my family.
Max Anstie: “I felt strong all weekend. The track was rough and the final motos felt more like we were at a beach race. With all that rain on Saturday, organisers had to work really hard to prepare the track for Sunday’s motos. I had some good battles in both motos and I’m happy the speed was there and I could make some good passes. In the first moto I came from eighth in the first turn to cross the line in third. Then in the second race I started inside the top 10 again and gradually found my way up to fourth. I feel that we’ve been making some good progress during the last few GPs and it’s nice to be on the box for the second time this season. We’ve all been working really hard so this podium result is good for me and for the whole Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team.”
MX2 RIDERS PODIUM
Thomas Covington: “It’s just great to end the season with overall victory in such demanding conditions. It was a perfect confidence booster for the coming season. I got the holeshot in the opening moto and that felt great. My goal was to keep it on two wheels while trying to retain a safe gap to the rest of the field. The track was rough and quite difficult to ride. A few laps before the finish I got stuck in a rut but luckily my gap was big enough to secure the moto win. In moto two I got another holeshot but quickly got passed by a couple of riders. I kept my head down and managed to make a few passes for second at the line.”
Hunter Lawrence: “I came into today really happy because I had first gate pick after winning qualifying yesterday. In the first moto it was quite wet, as a lot of rain fell so it was really muddy and slippery. It was really difficult conditions. I got a decent start though, and made some passes to come up to fifth and then fourth quite quickly. However, I couldn’t make a dent in the guys in front and finished fourth. In the second moto I went for the start, put it all in, and my RM-Z250 came out well on the inside and I held on to come out in the lead. I just then put my head down, put in my own laps and increased my lead and was really happy with how it all went. I’m really happy for the win and to end the season on a high note. I was pumped because Thomas Covington was closing in at the end because I was just trying to get it over the line at that stage. Leading a race is a whole different ball game from coming through the pack but I enjoyed it and now I get to look forward to the Motocross of Nations.”
Jed Beaton: My Saturday went pretty good, I had a good qualifying race which meant I had a good gate pick and that helped a lot. My starts this weekend were a lot better too. I was a bit lucky with Seewer crashing on the last lap of the second race as that enabled me to get third overall. I wasn’t originally going to race in MX2 this weekend but thankfully Carglass Honda released me and allowed me to take up the opportunity and I am really grateful for that. To get third overall in my fourth ever MX2 race is a really awesome feeling, it was awesome to see the team so pumped about it and they have been so good at setting the bike up for me as I only raced it for the first time in Assen last weekend.
OTHER RIDERS
Pauls Jonass: “It has been my dream since I started riding to be world champion and I accomplished that in the first moto. I made it tough for myself by crashing in the second corner then got up, cleaned everything and crashed in the next corner! I started from dead last but could finish fifth for the championship. My motivation was a bit down for the second moto but I was feeling good by the end and started to ‘go’. Fifteen podiums from nineteen is a pretty good season and I’m looking forward for some holidays! I’m also happy to finish the year without injury so we can go straight into preparing for 2018 after some time off.”
Tony Cairoli: “I know what it takes to make a solid and consistent championship; we made it and I’m really happy about this. It was an amazing season, one of my best. It is amazing I can still improve myself after almost fifteen years of the world championship. I’m proud of this. It is the first with the 450 KTM for me, which is very special. We had a good weekend.”
Max Nagl: “I’m really happy with my performance this weekend. The track was rough and the rain on Saturday made it even tougher. My speed was good in both motos and I felt that I could have earned a spot on the podium. In the opening moto my start was good and I was racing inside the top six but I crashed in the opening lap. I got up and started pushing to finally cross the line in 10th position. Then in moto two we decided with my team to select the far outside gate and that proved to be a very good idea. I got the holeshot and found myself leading for the first couple of laps. When Herlings passed me I tried to stay behind him looking for some better lines. Then I pushed hard until the end and managed to get a strong runner-up in moto two. My bike was running great in these tough conditions. We now have on GP to end this season and I can’t wait for it.”
Gautier Paulin: “It was a tough GP for me. I felt that my speed was good with the rain on Saturday, but as the track dried out I couldn’t get a good race pace in Sunday’s final motos. I got a good start in the first moto but struggled a lot to feel comfortable. Then as I was trying to take out a tear-off in a corner I lost some time and allowed some riders to get through. We worked a lot with my team during the motos and managed to make some big improvement with our set-up for the second race. My bike was running great in moto two and I managed to get my second eighth place result for the weekend.”
Thomas Kjer-Olsen: “Overall, I’m happy with fifth overall here in The Netherlands. The track was challenging and it was really easy to make a mistake. In the opening moto I didn’t manage to get the best of starts so found myself battling for the top six. I pushed hard and managed to put myself in sixth, but a small mistake dropped me back to eight at the chequered flag. In moto two I started inside the top 10 but started making some good passes quite early in the moto. My speed was good so I managed to cross the line in third. I’m looking forward to the final round in France next week. No matter what happens in France we’ve secured third in the series and that is very positive for the future.”
Thomas Covington: “I felt comfortable on my bike throughout the weekend. My start was good in the opening moto and soon I found myself racing in third. I made an attack for the runner-up spot but Prado was just too far away, so I kept my head down and stayed third until the chequered flag. I couldn’t get a good start in moto two and that made things harder for me. I took my time to find the right lines and started pushing to get closer to the top six. A few laps before the finish I was eighth but a small crash forced me to settle for 13th at the finish line. We are now heading to France for the final round and I will do my best for a good overall result there.”
Conrad Mewse: “The speed was there this weekend and I had some great moments in both motos. In moto one I got off to a good start. Making some passes I found myself racing in third but a fall in the rhythm section dropped me back again. When I got back on my bike I tried to push again and crossed the line in sixth place. Getting the holeshot in moto two felt good. We had a good battle with Jorge Prado but I managed to make a small gap up front. I gave my all and managed to retain the lead for the first ten minutes of the race, but with the track being so demanding I started feeling tired and was unable to keep the same lap times. I had to settle for 12th in moto two. We still have one round to go and I really want to wrap up this season on a high.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: I had a frustrating weekend here. Both races I had a good start but in the first race I fell in the second corner, ended up dead last but managed to come to eleventh. The conditions out there were so tough, it was really difficult and to avoid making mistakes. The second moto started off really good, I was running fourth for most of the race and I was feeling confident. I was really pumped as I knew I was running upfront. Then, I banged bars with Tonus and I went down pretty hard and damaged my thumb. I pulled off as the pain was too much. I DNF’d the second race as a result. The season is finished now and I really want to say a big thanks to all of the team, Honda and the sponsors for seven years together and it is a shame to leave the group and I am a bit sad but I wish everyone and my team mate Tim good luck for the future.
Jeremy Seewer: “We had another mud race this weekend, a really bad one for us as there was a lot of rain yesterday and today again this morning. I wasn’t feeling right with the track, with all the hills and the mud and all the ruts. I got a good start in the first moto though which really helped; Covington was a bit faster, he made no mistakes so I was happy with second place. Then in the second moto I got too much wheel-spin on the mesh which was just strange because I did exactly the same start in the first moto and didn’t get any spin. I was far back on the start-straight because of this but I made a lot of quick passes and got it back to fourth and then set about passing Covington. I got up to second before Covington passed me back after a couple of poor laps. I kept pushing though and at the end of the race I saw an opportunity to win the GP, so I gave it everything I had to pressure him into a mistake but coming down the steep downhill my front wheel slipped away and I had a crash. I didn’t hurt myself, but the bike made a couple of flips. I thought it was worth it to try and win the GP, it just didn’t quite work out ok. A big thanks to the whole Suzuki World MX2 Team, they put in a lot of work to get me to the front of the pack each weekend and get me challenging for the title. I’m disappointed with second overall in the championship but Jonass rode great all year, so congratulations to him. I went to him after the first moto just to say to him “well done” because he did really well with the pressure and rode consistently fast the whole season long.”
