FIM Motocross World Championship – MX1 / MX2

Pietramurata (Trentino), maggio 2016 – Il circuito del GP del Trentino a Pietramurata è situato in una vasta valle di formazione glaciale custodita dalle vette carsiche delle Dolomiti del Brenta, è “annidato” sulle rive ventose del Lago di Garda ed è una delle tappe più amate del calendario. La pista è di roccia dura, argillosa e pietrosa, e si snoda su e giù per le colline ai piedi delle Dolomiti, con grandi cambi di pendenza. La prima prova del Campionato Mondiale Motocross FIM che è stata organizzata in questa sede straordinaria risale al 1987, e questo fine settimana Pietramurata ospiterà non solo l’ottava prova del Campionato Mondiale FIM di Motocross 2016, ma anche la quarta prova del Campionato EMX250 Europeo e il secondo round del Campionato Europeo EMX125.

L’anno scorso Tim Gajser, il “debuttante” della MXGP che ha appena strappato la tabella rossa a Romain Febvre il passato fine settimana, ha vinto qui il GP della MX2 in modo perfetto e oltretutto contro un Jeffrey Herlings in piena forma. Allo stesso tempo nella classe regina si sono viste alcune delle corse più affascinanti della scorsa stagione, con tutti i top riders che si sono battuti a “smanubriate” nel vero senso della parola. Gautier Paulin aveva avuto un po’ di sfortuna e Clement Desalle era caduto, ma la cosa più memorabile di quel giorno è stata la strana caduta della leggenda americana Ryan Villopoto, che si è rotto il coccige dopo che si è ribaltato rimanendo appeso al gas.. Drammi a parte, l’anno scorso il vincitore del GP è stato Max Nagl, davanti ad Antonio Cairoli e Clement Desalle.

Lo scorso fine settimana Antonio Cairoli, pilota Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, è finalmente riuscito a sbloccarsi conquistando la sua prima vittoria in quasi un anno. La strada per tornare sul gradino più alto è stata lunga e tortuosa, ma il nostro Otto volte campione del mondo ce l’ha fatta!! Questo fine settimana la leggenda italiana giocherà in casa, anche se in realtà questo non conta molto come un vantaggio per lui dato che essendo uno dei piloti più popolari al mondo deve sempre partecipare ad eventi mediatici e sessioni di autografi. Nonostante questo Tony Cairoli ama i suoi fans e ha sempre voglia di “sparare” l’inno Italiano dall’alto del podio sulla folla di migliaia di fans che vengono a vederlo all’opera.

Per la seconda volta quest’anno la tabella rossa sarà saldamente “imbullonata” al numero 243 della “bestiale” Honda Gariboldi di Tim Gajser. In questo momento Gajser è a dir poco sensazionale, guida sempre così al limite che siamo quasi costretti a guardarlo con gli occhi socchiusi.. guida talmente veloce da farci venire gli attacchi di cuore! Ma quello che sorprende di più a parte il suo stile “appariscente” è la sua costanza. Quest’anno è l’unico pilota ad essere salito sul podio ad ogni gara. Sette su sette, e questo weekend cercherà di risalirci per l’ottava volta.

Nel frattempo per Romain Febvre, pilota Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing, nelle ultime due gare si è rotto un po’ l’incantesimo. Lo scorso fine settimana il francese è caduto al primo giro di gara 1 e poi non è riuscito a riprendere il ritmo e a mantenere la tabella rossa. Ma Romain è uno dei piloti più grintosi della classe e potete scommetterci che questo fine settimana sarà pronto a combattere.

Anche Max Nagl, pilota Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory e vincitore dello scorso anno, sarà una minaccia per il podio visto che è tornato in piena salute dopo essere stato debole e malaticcio alla sua gara di casa lo scorso fine settimana in Germania.

Evgeny Bobryshev del team HRC sta sopportando con grande dolore il suo infortunio alla spalla e dovrà contare sulla forza delle sue gambe per controllare la sua Honda FMF. Il russo è determinato a schierarsi ad ogni GP per ottenere più punti possibili, e lo scorso anno qui è partito in pole dopo aver vinto la gara di qualificazione quindi il 777 ha il passo per correre lì davanti sul duro terreno italiano( rientra anche Gautier Paulin ).

Inoltre ci sarà Jordi Tixier, pilota Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing, che farà qui il suo tanto atteso ritorno alle corse che sarà anche il suo debutto nella classe MXGP!

Jeffrey Herlings, pilota Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, l’anno scorso è stato battuto in pieno da Tim Gajser qui a Pietramurata, e se basiamo la sua velocità sullo scorso fine settimana potrebbe non essere una vittoria così facile e in stile rullo compressore, come ci saremmo quasi aspettati del fenomeno della MX2. Ma adesso il numero 84 ha un bersaglio sulla schiena.. e quel bersaglio diventa sempre più grande ad ogni giro che passa.. tocca ora a Herlings “The Bullett” rimanere freddo, calmo e concentrato in pista mentre tutti gli altri guidano al limite, “affamati” di vittoria.

Dylan Ferrandis del Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team è mancato per più di metà della stagione, ma da quando è tornato è già passato da un risultato nei primi cinque ad un podio. Non ha ancora la resistenza per tutta la gara quindi più guida, più entra in forma e più potremo aspettarci da lui.

Per quanto riguarda invece Jeremy Seewer del Team Suzuki World MX2, adesso si che è galvanizzato! Jeremy è stato fortissimo lo scorso fine settimana. Ha colto tutti di sorpresa compreso Herlings e ha guidato con molta determinazione, speriamo quindi che quel fuoco che ha dentro sia ancora acceso questo fine settimana nella sua caccia al suo settimo podio o forse anche ad una vittoria di manche.

Per Max Anstie del team Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory è ora che le cose comincino ad andare per il verso giusto.. Il britannico guida con il ritmo dei top tre ed è più che in grado di stare lì davanti ogni fine settimana. Al momento sembra come se Max non abbia cominciato a comporre il suo puzzle a partire dagli angoli e dai pezzi con i bordi… speriamo che ora ci sia riuscito e che possa cominciare a mettere insieme una stagione come si deve..!

Tutti sanno che i francesi eccellono sulle piste con grandi dislivelli e  sui terreni duri che sembrano di marmo, e questo fa di Benoit Paturel del team Kemea Yamaha MX un possibile “gatto tra i piccioni”. Paturel è uno di quei ragazzi che sta nell’ombra. Dopo una prestazione eccezionale l’anno scorso in Messico, quando ha ottenuto il primo podio della sua carriera, è da allora in missione per cercare di risalirci

Ultimo ma non meno importante, è la gara di casa per il giovane astro nascente italiano Samuele Bernardini! Bernardini è stata la sorpresa della stagione quest’anno! In qualche modo riesce quasi sempre a fare l’holeshot con la sua TM Racing Factory, e ci ha fatto vedere un paio di prestazioni davvero impressionanti. Ha già sfiorato il podio un paio di volte e sarebbe incredibile per il giovane italiano raggiungere questo traguardo proprio qui a Pietramurata per i suoi tifosi.

TARGETS PINNED ON GAJSER & HERLINGS IN PIETRAMURATA

PIETRAMURATA (Trentino), 11 May 2016 – Set in a wide glacial valley guarded by the karst peaks of the Brenta Dolomite Mountains and nestled on the shores of the wind rippled Lake Garda, the MXGP of Trentinoin Pietramurata is one of the most loved stops on the calendar. The track is rock hard clay, stony and has loads of elevation as it rips up, down and around the hills based at the bottom of the Dolomites. The first round of the FIM Motocross World Championship to take place at this extraordinary venue was back in 1987 and they have since had six rounds with this weekend being the seventh as it will host the eighth round of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship, as well as the fourth round of the European Championship EMX250and the second round of the European Championship EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing. Last year, Tim Gajser, MXGP’s rookie who snatched the red plate from Romain Febvre last weekend, won the MX2 grand prix here fair and square, even with an uninjured Jeffrey Herlings on the line. Meanwhile in the premier class, it provided some of the most captivating racing of the season as all of the top cats went bar-to-bar, quite literally. Gautier Paulin had some misfortune, Clement Desalle crashed, while the most memorable occurrence on that day was the season ending crash of American legend Ryan Villopoto who got an unusual case of whiskey throttle and broke his coccyx. All the drama aside, Max Nagl wound up the grand prix winner, ahead of Antonio Cairoli and Clement Desalle.   Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli finally got the monkey off his back last weekend with his first grand prix victory in almost a year. It’s been a long and winding road back to the top of the box, but the eight-time world champ did it! This weekend, the Italian legend will be on home soil although that doesn’t really count as an advantage for him, as one of the most popular riders in the world he is normally run off of his feet with media events and signing sessions. Even so, Cairoli loves his fans and one of the best feelings in the world must be blasting the Italian national anthem from the top of the box for the thousands upon thousands of fans that come out to watch him do business. The red plate will be firmly bolted to the number 243 Honda Gariboldi beast of Tim Gajser for the second time this year. Gajser is nothing short of sensational at the moment; he rides so close to the edge you almost have to watch through squinted eyes because when his bike steps out, he’s riding so fast it makes your heart stop briefly. What is more amazing than his super flamboyant style is his consistency. He’s the only rider to have finished on the podium at every round this year. That’s seven from seven and he’ll be looking for number eight this weekend. Meanwhile Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Romain Febvre has been having a little bit of a rough spell over the last couple of rounds. The Frenchman crashed on the opening lap of race 1 last weekend and couldn’t regroup enough to salvage the red plate. Nevertheless, he is one of the grittiest riders on the line and you can bet your boots both barrels will be loaded and ready to fire this weekend. If he has returned to full health after being under the weather at his home grand prix last weekend, last year’s winner Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Nagl will be a threat to the podium. Meanwhile Team HRC’s Evgeny Bobryshev will be relying on the power in his legs to control his FMF powered Honda this weekend while he fights through the immense pain of a shoulder injury. The Russian is determined to be on the line at every round, chipping away at the guys in front of him, he was the poleman last year after winning the qualifying races, so the 777 has the pace to run up front on the hard Italian soil. The number 84 has a target on his back and that target gets bigger and bigger with each passing lap, it’s up for The Bullet to remain cool, calm and collective out there while everyone else is riding on edge, hungry to beat him. Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Dylan Ferrandis has been missing for more than half of the season, but since his return has already gone from a top five finish to the podium. He’s still not race fit so the more he rides, the more we can expect from him. As for Team Suzuki World MX2’s Jeremy Seewer, now he’s cooking with gas! That dude was on it last weekend. He caught everyone off guard including Herlings. He was riding with some serious fire, so let’s hope that that fire is still raging this weekend as he goes for his seventh podium finish and maybe a race win. Things have got to start coming together for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Anstie. The Brit runs a top three pace and is more than capable of being there every weekend. Right now it just seems like he hasn’t started his puzzle by piecing the corners and flat-edged pieces together first, hopefully he’s got that done now and he can start putting together a decent season. Every one knows that the French thrive on marbled clay and elevation, which makes Kemea Yamaha Official MX Team’s Frenchman Benoit Paturel a possible cat among the pigeons. Paturel is one of those guys who is there lingering in the shadow. He had a break out performance last year in Mexico when he landed on the podium for the first time in his career and since, it’s been a mission to get back. Last but not least, it’s a home race for the young Italian star on the rise Samuele Bernardini. Bernardini has been the surprise of the season this year! He somehow manages to pull near holeshots on the TM Racing Factory Team TM (that’s a mouthful), and has put in a few impressive performances.
