Ecco i pensieri del post gara al quarto round del Campionato Mondiale Motocross 2016, il tracciato infernale di Neuquén in Argentina ha regalato emozioni agli spettatori, leggete quello che hanno da dire gli attori!

Tim Gajser: “Sono molto contento di come è andato tutto il week-end. Ieri ho vinto la mia prima gara di qualificazione in MXGP e poi oggi è andata bene, soprattutto nella seconda gara. Ero molto gasato dalla vittoria nella gara di qualifica, e anche se non sono molto contento della prima gara, gara2 è stata meravigliosa. In gara1 non ho fatto una gran partenza, ma poi ho sorpassato molti piloti e ho finito terzo nonostante un piccolo errore. Poi in gara2 ho fatto l’holeshot e ho comandato e controllato tutta la gara dalla prima posizione, è stato veramente incredibile e sono molto contento per tutto il mio team. È una sensazione fantastica!”
Antonio Cairoli: “Sono molto contento della mia gara, il mio infortunio di quest’inverno era più grave di quel che si pensava, ha impiegato più tempo del previsto a guarire e non sono ancora completamente in forma. In alcune parti della pista mi sentivo di non aver ancora abbastanza forza, così ho cercato di guidare più dolcemente, ma non ci sono molto abituato. Sono molto contento di essere tornato sul podio e ho ricominciato a sentirmi me stesso, specialmente nei primi giri anche se mi manca ancora la velocità nei primi frangenti di gara per stare con i piloti in testa. Nei primi giri sono stato ancora un po’ lento ma le gare sono un ottimo allenamento, ogni volta mi sento meglio e non vedo l’ora delle prossime gare per continuare a migliorare. Il mio infortunio è quasi completamente risolto e spero di combattere ancora in testa nel prossimo Grand Prix. La pista qui era bellissima, è molto divertente da guidare e ci sono molti punti dove puoi provare a sorpassare senza prendere grossi rischi. Questa pista è sicura e spettacolare, ci sono molte linee diverse e questo è un bene per il nostro sport perché così gli spettatori da casa possono vedere delle belle gare. In gara1 ho fatto una buona partenza ma nei primi giri mi mancava un po’ di velocità e Nagl, che era più veloce fin dall’inizio, mi ha passato e mi ha distanziato. Dopo dieci minuti ho cominciato ad irrigidirmi un po’ e ho perso terreno ma poi mi sono sentito molto meglio e sono riuscito a superare sia Tim (Gajser-Honda) che Bobby (Bobryshev-Honda). In gara2 sono riuscito a finire secondo e ho provato a stare vicino a Tim, ma era molto veloce così ho mantenuto un buon passo fino alla fine e ho portato a casa dei punti importanti.”
Max Nagl: “Sono contento di essere sul podio ma avrebbe potuto essere una vittoria di GP. In gara1 ho preso un po’ di rischi così ho rallentato e ho chiuso in terza posizione. Sono deluso che i due piloti Yamaha mi abbiano passato. Ho fatto una buona partenza in gara1, non perfetta ma buona. Poi sono andato largo e Tony mi ha passato. Sapevo di essere forte così ho spinto a testa bassa ed è stata una bella battaglia, avrei voluto andare via e prendere fiato, ma ho dovuto spingere forte fino alla fine perché gli altri piloti erano vicini e agguerriti. Adesso devo riposarmi per gara2.”

Jeffrey Herlings: “Abbiamo avuto un ottimo week-end e siamo sempre stati i più veloci. Sabato ho vinto la gara di qualifica e domenica in gara1 sono partito secondo, ho guadagnato la prima posizione e sono andato via facilmente. In gara2 ho guidato come so fare e siamo così riusciti a conquistare la centesima vittoria di manche. Sono molto felice di questo traguardo. Speriamo di poter continuare così e vincere ancora in Messico settimana prossima. Penso di aver dato una prova di forza oggi. Sono scattato bene in gara1 in terza o quarta posizione, poi sono passato velocemente in testa e ho fatto la mia gara. Ho così ottenuto la mia 99esima vittoria di manche in gara1 ed ero determinato a conquistare la 100esima nella seconda manche. “Ero di fretta per prendere l’aereo..”(ha detto ridendo..) Ce l’abbiamo fatta ancora, ho vinto praticamente tutto quello che potevo vincere e ogni week-end che passa mi sento sempre meglio.”
Jeremy Seewer: “Sono molto contento del mio secondo posto finale. Ieri non riuscivo a entrare in sintonia con la pista e ho dovuto limitare i danni. Poi abbiamo cambiato molto la moto ed alla fine è andata bene. Alla partenza di gara1 qualcuno mi ha tagliato la strada e ho dovuto usare un sacco di energie per recuperare ed è stata una dura lotta con Alex in seconda posizione. Voglio ringraziare il mio team e il mio meccanico perché abbiamo lavorato tanto duramente per questo risultato e adesso non vedo l’ora della gara in Messico.”
Aleksandr Tonkov: “Dopo un po’ di sfortuna e due settimane di malattia sono veramente sorpreso di me stesso. È bello tornare in forma, combattere per le prime posizioni e ritornare sul podio. Spero che potremo cominciare a lavorare e migliorare ancora per cercare di fare ancora meglio settimana prossima. Dopo Valkenswaard il team si è dato molto da fare e hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro che ci ha permesso di tornare a questo livello, e tutti al Wilvo Standing Construct, il mio meccanico Gaitan e tutto lo staff hanno lavorato duramente per procurarci questo risultato in Argentina.”

Pauls Jonass: “In gara1 non ho fatto una buona partenza ma nella seconda curva ho preso male una buca e sono caduto violentemente. Qualcuno è poi passato sopra alla mia moto e non sono riuscito a continuare la gara perchè non ripartiva più. Ma comunque non mi sentivo molto bene ed ero piuttosto acciaccato. Non sapevo neanche se sarei riuscito a guidare in gara2 ma poi ho fatto una buona partenza e ho preso un po’ di punti. Sono sempre un po’ troppo aggressivo all’inizio e so che ho bisogno di rimanere più calmo e di imparare dai miei errori.”
Davy Pootjes: “Nella prima manche ho fatto una brutta partenza perchè un altro pilota mi ha bloccato e sono quasi caduto. Ma avevo una buona velocità e all’inizio della manche ho rimontato fino al sesto posto, andava abbastanza bene ma poi ho avuto indurimento delle braccia e sono anche caduto. Nella seconda manche sono partito di nuovo male, ma ho recuperato dal dodicesimo fino al settimo posto e stavo raggiungendo il gruppo dei primi cinque. Poi mi si sono indurite di nuovo le braccia e ho finito undicesimo – ma ho dimostrato di avere la velocità dei primi cinque”.
Benoit Paturel: “La pista era molto bella, ma in gara1 sono caduto in partenza e ho rimontato combattendo dal 23esimo fino al 13esimo posto. Ho preso un po’ di punti e questo è positivo per tutti noi del team Kemea. In gara2 ero sempre a distanza ravvicinata di Jonass e Tonkov, ma ho finito quinto. Per me non è male, ma neanche molto buono e lavoreremo insieme in Messico per vedere se riusciamo a tornare sopra la media.”
Alvin Östlund: “La partenza della seconda manche è stata davvero serrata e ho sentito che c’era qualcuno subito dietro di me, così ho accelerato al massimo per cercare di scappare ma ho finito per perdere l’avantreno, e poi sono stato colpito. Quando mi sono rialzato non mi sentivo tanto bene alla testa così ho preferito abbandonare la gara. Non conosco il tracciato in Messico, non ci sono mai stato, ma so che sarà un terreno duro e che sarà caldo, avremo così un’altra occasione per provare a fare un buon risultato insieme al mio team che ringrazio per la loro esperienza e preparazione.”
Glenn Coldenhoff: “Nella prima manche ho fatto una buona partenza in quarta posizione e ho guidato abbastanza bene, ma quando sei davanti a tutti all’inizio della gara devi guidare sopra il tuo limite e così a metà gara ero già abbastanza stanco; poi mi si sono indurite un po’ le braccia e ho dovuto rallentare. In gara2 ho fatto una partenza decente, sono partito con più calma e ho trovato il mio ritmo. Sono riuscito a fare un po’ di sorpassi e grazie ad alcuni piloti davanti a me che hanno commesso un po’ di errori sono riuscito a finire quinto. È stato un buon risultato e ne sono abbastanza contento. Prima di questa gara ero riuscito a fare un po’ di allenamento con la moto e questo mi ha dato più fiducia.”
Romain Febvre: “Nella prima manche ho cercato di anticipare la partenza ma il cancelletto era ancora su e così ho dovuto aspettare e ripartire in mezzo al gruppo intorno alla nona o decima posizione. Sapevo di avere una buona velocità ma poi sono entrato un po’ troppo forte in una curva e sono caduto in avanti sopra la moto. Gara2 è andata meglio ma sappiamo che è un risultato che possiamo migliorare. Conosciamo la pista in Messico ma ora è estate lassù e fa molto più caldo che qui in Argentina. Pensiamo che la pista sarà molto dura a Leon e questo per noi sarà una buona opportunità.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “La squadra ha fatto un lavoro impressionante e mi ha aiutato molto in questa gara. La seconda manche è andata molto bene, ma dobbiamo lavorare sulla partenza per essere nel gruppo di testa fin dall’inizio e finire nei primi posti. I primi dieci minuti di gara sono sempre una grande lotta e poi serve ancora un sacco di energia per arrivare al traguardo, ma in Messico sappiamo quello che dobbiamo fare.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “Ero abbastanza soddisfatto della prima gara perchè avevo un buon passo ed anche il miglior tempo sul giro, e poi verso la fine ho avuto un pò di indurimento alle braccia che mi ha rallentato un pò. Ma sono molto deluso perché poi ho fatto un brutta caduta in gara2. E’ stata una caduta abbastanza pesante all’atterraggio di un salto, ho fatto fatica a finire la gara e sono tutto dolorante. Adesso devo solo riposare e sperare di sentirmi meno acciaccato e indolenzito per il Messico.”
Clement Desalle: “Nella session di prove libere ho fatto dei buoni tempi, ma nella gara di qualifica Bobryshev è caduto proprio davanti a me e non sono riuscito ad evitarlo così ho dovuto rimontare dall’ultima posizione fino al nono posto. Oggi in gara1 ho fatto una buona partenza ed ero nei primi 5, ma dopo quindici minuti ho sentito gli effetti della mia mancanza di allenamento sulla moto da quando ho avuto l’incidente, ed ho dovuto rallentare. Ho chiuso settimo ed ovviamente vorrei dei risultati migliori, ma non voglio rischiare stupidamente adesso che sto ancora guarendo. Gara2 è stata simile, avevo un buon ritmo nei primi giri ma poi ho perso alcune posizioni. So che presto potrò tornare ad allenarmi normalmente ma è sicuramente sempre difficile aspettare perché io voglio vincere e andare a podio.”
Tommy Searle: “Per me questo fine settimana è stato deludente, mi sentivo bene quando sono arrivato qui perchè mi piace la pista e la zona, ma per il momento sembra proprio che non sono in grado di fare una buona partenza. I miei tempi sul giro sono ai livelli dei primi della classifica, anche col traffico, ma al momento devo utilizzare tutte le mie energie per stare al loro passo. In gara2 sono caduto da solo. E’ stato un errore stupido e ho battuto il naso, ho cercato di continuare ma ero un po’ stordito e ho cominciato a fare ancora più errori. Avevo sangue negli occhiali e non riuscivo a vedere con il sole e quindi è stato meglio fermarsi. Sarò a posto per il prossimo fine settimana in Messico.”
Kevin Strijbos: “Per oggi abbiamo fatto alcuni cambiamenti al set-up , ma non hanno funzionato molto. La pista era veramente insidiosa e con quella base dura era facile commettere errori… e penso che un sacco di gente li abbia fatti! Abbiamo cercato di rimanere positivi e abbiamo dato il nostro meglio in pista. Al momento è un po’ frustrante sia per me che per la squadra, ma ora andremo in Messico e poi faremo degli altri test quando torneremo a casa. Voglio davvero ringraziare la mia squadra perché c’è un sacco di duro lavoro dietro le quinte che al momento non ci sta ripagando, ma sono sicuro che lo farà presto.”
Valentin Guillod: “La seconda gara è stata molto positiva per noi perché ho combattuto molto duramente ed abbiamo raccolto i frutti del lavoro che abbiamo fatto fin da sabato sul motore per migliorare la moto. Grazie ai meccanici abbiamo azzeccato le modifiche e ho fatto un buon risultato in Argentina. In Messico la prossima settimana la pista è più dura e meno sabbiosa, e questo si adatta molto alle mie caratteristiche di pilota. Vedremo come andrà, ma sono ottimista “.
Petar Petrov: “Ho faticato per tutto il weekend, ma alla fine ho ottenuto il mio miglior risultato dell’anno con un quinto posto nel GP e la quinta posizione in campionato! Sabato non mi sentivo a mio agio sulla pista, ma abbiamo lavorato sull’assetto e abbiamo trovato le soluzioni; questa pista era molto veloce ed io non mi sento mai del tutto a mio agio quando la pista non è molto tecnica. Ma ho dovuto affrontarla comunque e quindi ci sono un sacco di punti positivi da portarsi via da questo weekend. So che devo lavorare sulle partenze e sui primi dieci minuti di gara, queste sono le cose da sistemare in vista dei prossimi GP. In entrambe le manche ho passato diversi piloti nella seconda metà di gara ed è frustrante perché con delle partenze migliori avrei potuto essere sul podio. Ma la stagione è lunga e l’importante è essere costanti, e lo siamo sempre stati a parte in una sola manche che non ho terminato.”
Vsevolod Brylyakov: “Grazie ad un altro risultato nei primi sei la squadra è abbastanza felice, ed anche io sono contento di essere stato costante fin dall’inizio della stagione e stiamo migliorando passo dopo passo. Questo fine settimana non è stato per niente facile per me in quanto ho avuto qualche problema a casa e ho dovuto volare di nuovo in Russia prima di venire qui, e tutto questo è stato abbastanza difficile mentalmente. Non ho avuto tempo di fare un buon allenamento e quindi, considerando queste condizioni, sono contento del risultato e non vedo l’ora della gara in Messico. Le mie partenze sono state le migliori della stagione finora, sono partito due volte nei primi dieci e poi ho fatto del mio meglio. Ho fatto fatica con la pista, non ero molto veloce ma non ho commesso errori, e questa è stata la chiave per conquistare dei bei punti. ”

Tim Gajser: “I’m really happy with the whole weekend – yesterday I won my first qualification race in MXGP, and then today was good, especially the second race. I was really pumped about the win in the qualification race, and even though I wasn’t so happy with the first race, the second race was amazing. In race one I didn’t have the best start, but then I passed many riders and finished third even though I made a little mistake. Then in the second heat I took the holeshot and lead all the race, controlling it from the front which was just incredible and I’m just so happy for the whole team. It’s a great feeling!”
Jeffrey Herlings: “We had a really good weekend and were the fastest. We won the qualifying on Saturday and on Sunday I was second at the start of the first moto and worked my way up to the lead and pretty much checked out after that. Then we did what we had to do in the second race and made it happen to get the 100 moto wins. I’m really happy about that. Hopefully we can get this winning going again in Mexico next weekend. I think I made a statement today. I came out good third or fourth in the first moto, had the lead quick and just did my own thing. I got my 99th moto win in moto one and I wanted to get my 100th in the second moto. I had to hurry up to get my flight (he laughed) We did it again, still won pretty much everything I could and I feel better every weekend.
Antonio Cairoli: “I am very happy with my race, this winter’s injury was more serious than expected and it took longer than expected to recover and still I’m not 100% fit. In some parts of the track felt that I did not have enough strength yet, so I tried to drive more smoothly, but I’m not very used to it. I am very happy to be back on the podium and I started to feel again myself, especially in the first laps, although I still miss the speed in the early stages of the race to go as the guys in front. In the first laps I was still a bit slow but the races are a great training, I feel every time better and I look forward to the next rounds to continue to improve. My injury is almost completely solved, so I hope to battle again on top in the next Grand Prix. Here the track was beautiful, it is very fun to drive and there are several points where you can try overtaking, without taking big risks. There are many lines and that’s good for the sport, so the spectators from home can see some good races; this is a safe and spectacular track. In race one I got a good start but I was lacking speed in the early laps, Nagl (Husqvarna) was faster at the start and he passed me, pulling the gap. After ten minutes I started to be a bit stiff and I lost ground but then I felt much better and I was able to go over both Tim (Gajser-Honda) and Bobby (Bobryshev-Honda). In race two I was able to finish second and I tried to stay close to Tim, but he was very fast, so I kept a good pace until the end, taking home solid points.”
Max Nagl: I am happy to be on the podium, but if could have been a GP win. I had some sketchy moments and I slowed down to finish third. I am disappointed the two Yamaha guys passed me. I had a good start in the first moto, not perfect but good. Then I went wide and Tony passed me. I knew I was strong so I pushed hard and it was nice racing, I wanted to make a gap and rest, but I pushed until the last lap, because the other guys were pushing hard. I need to rest now for the second moto.”
Jeremy Seewer: “Second overall; I’m so happy. I couldn’t get going with the track yesterday so I had to make the best of it. We changed the bike a lot and it worked out well. Someone cut across me at the start of the first moto and I had to use a lot of energy to come through and it was a hard fight with Alex in the second. I want to thank the team and my mechanic because we have been working so hard for this and now I’ll look forward to Mexico.”
Aleksandr Tonkov: “After some bad luck and sickness for two weeks, I really surprised myself. It’s nice to rebuild and battle at the front and be back on the podium. I hope we can start working and get stronger for next work and go even further. After Valkenswaard the team really came together and did a great job to get us back up to this level, and everybody at Wilvo Standing Construct, my mechanic Gaitan and all the staff worked really hard to get us this result in Argentina.”
Pauls Jonass: “I didn’t get the best start in the first race then in the second corner I hit a bump and had a big crash. I wasn’t able to continue because my bike wouldn’t start after someone ran over it. Also I didn’t feel too good and was pretty banged up. I didn’t know if I would be able to ride in the second race but I got a good start and made up some good points. I’m always a bit too aggressive at the beginning so I know I need to stay more calm and learn from my mistakes.”
Davy Pootjes: “I had a bad start in the first moto when another rider blocked me and I almost crashed. But at the beginning of the moto I came back to sixth, which was quite good and with good speed but then I got arm pump and also crashed. Then in the second moto my start was bad again but I came back from 12th to seventh and I was closing on the top-five group. Then I got arm pump again and finished eleventh – but I showed I have the speed of the to five.”
Benoit Paturel: “The track was really good, but in the first race I crashed in the start and fought all the way back from 23rd to 13th. I got some points and that’s good for all of us at Kemea. In the second race I was always in sight of Jonass and Tonkov, but finished fifth. For me this is not bad, but not so great, so we’ll work together in Mexico to see if we can get back above average.”
Alvin Östlund: “In the second moto it was really tight in the start and I felt someone behind me, so I pushed the gas to get away. I ended up losing my front wheel and got hit. When I got up my head didn’t feel so great so I came out of the race. I don’t know the course in Mexico, I’ve never been there, but I know it’s going to be hardpack and hot, so with the team we will have another chance to try for a good result, and I’m grateful for their experience and preparation.”
Coldenhoff: “The first moto I took a good start and I was in fourth. I rode pretty well but in the beginning if you are out in front, you are riding above your limit and that broke me up a bit in the middle of the race, then I got a bit of arm pump and had to slow down. I got an okay start in the second moto. I started a bit easier and I found my rhythm. I could make some passes and some guys in front of me made some mistakes so I was able to finish sixth. It was a solid result and I’m pretty happy with it. Also coming into this race I was able to do some practice with the bike and this gave me more confidence.”
Romain Febvre: “In the first moto I tried to anticipate the start with the gate still up, and I had to wait and go again, so in the pack I was 9th or 10th but I knew I had good speed. Then in one of the corners I went a bit too fast in a corner and went over the front of the bike. The second race I was better, but still this is a result we know we can improve on. We know the track in Mexico, but it’s summer up there and so its much hotter than here in Argentina right now. We think the track is going to be really hard in Leon, and that’s a good objective for us.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek: “The team did an awesome job, and it helped me a lot in this race. The second moto was really good, but we have work to do on the start to get into the top group early and finish at the front. The first ten minutes of the race are always a big fight, and it costs a lot of energy to get through all of it, so in Mexico we know what we have to do.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “I was pretty pleased after the first race as my pace was good and I had the fastest lap, but I just had a bit of arm pump at the end which slowed me down a bit. But then I had a big crash in the second race so I’m very disappointed. I feel very sore all over from the crash because it was pretty heavy, on the landing of a jump, so I was in pain to finish the race. So now I must just rest and hope that I feel less bruised and sore for Mexico.”
Clement Desalle: “I had some good lap times in the practice session, but in the qualifying race Bobryshev crashed just in front of me and I couldn’t avoid him; I had to come back from last to ninth. Today I had a good start in the first race and was in the top five, but after fifteen minutes I could feel the effect of not being able to ride my bike so much since my accident and I had to slow down. I finished seventh; for sure I’d like better results but I don’t want to take stupid risks as I’m still recovering. The second race was similar with a good rhythm in the first laps, but then I lost some positions. I know that soon I will be able to train normally; for sure it’s always difficult to wait as I want to win races and score podiums.”
Tommy Searle: “This weekend was disappointing for me, I felt good when I came here as I like the track and the area but I just don’t seem to be able to get a start at the moment. My lap times are as good as the leaderboard men, even in traffic, but I am using all my energy to catch up to them at the moment. I crashed on my own in the second race. It was a stupid mistake and I hit my nose. I tried to carry on but I was a little dizzy and making more mistakes; I had blood in my goggles and couldn’t see with the sun so it was better to stop. I will be OK for next weekend in Mexico.”
Kevin Strijbos: “We made some changes to the set-up for today but they didn’t really work. The track was really sketchy and with that hard base it was easy to make mistakes…and I think a lot of people did make them! We tried to keep positive and gave our best out there. It is a bit frustrating for me and the team at the moment but we’ll go to Mexico now and then have some more tests when we get back home. I really want to thank the team because there is a lot of hard work going on behind-the-scenes and it is not paying-off at the moment; but I’m sure it soon will.”
Valentin Guillod: “The second race was really positive for us, because I fought really hard and the work we did from Saturday on the engine to improve the bike we could see. Thanks to the mechanics we got it right and I had a good finish in Argentina. In Mexico next week the track is more hard-pack and less sandy, which really suits my characteristics as a rider. We’ll see what happens, but I’m optimistic.”
Petar Petrov: “I battled all weekend long, but finally I got my best result of the year with a fifth overall in the GP and fifth position in the championship ! On Saturday I didn’t feel comfortable on the track but we worked on the settings and found solutions; this track was really fast and I’m never as comfortable when it’s not so technical. But I had to deal with it, so there are a lot of positive points to take out of the weekend. I know that I have to work on the starts and the first ten minutes; we need to fix that for the next GPs. In both motos I passed several riders in the second half of the races; it’s frustrating as with better starts I could have been on the podium. But it’s a long season, it’s important to be consistent and apart from one DNF we have been consistent so far.”
Vsevolod Brylyakov: “With another top six result the team is pretty happy and I’m also glad to be consistent since the beginning of the season; we’re improving step by step. This weekend wasn’t really easy for me as I had some problems back home; I had to fly back to Russia before coming here and it was quite difficult mentally. I had no time to do good training and, considering these conditions, I’m happy with the result, so I’m looking forward to Mexico. My starts were the best of the season so far, twice in the top ten and then I did my best. I was struggling with the track; I wasn’t so fast but didn’t make any mistakes, that was the key to scoring good points.”
