TOMAC DOMINA DAYTONA SX PER PRIMA VITTORIA KAWASAKI

Eli Tomac ha preso il suo tempo con la Monster Energy Kawasaki da quando è diventato ‘verde’ nell’autunno del 2015, ma il 23enne, infine, ha mostrato il suo enorme potenziale sulla KX450F dopo una prima vittoria nel fine settimana in una delle più iconiche gare di Supercross di tutto il Campionato.

La grande Daytona Speedway ha ospitato una pista dal layout morbido, pieno di insidie e molto tecnico in stile Supercross e Motocross per il nono round di diciassette e in tutto il terreno nero ha distinto che il numero ‘3’ era imbattibile, mantenendo il leader della serie Ryan Dungey sotto controllo e chiudendo il secondo podio della stagione. Il risultato di Tomac lo lascia a nove punti da Jason Anderson e manca poco dai primi tre della classifica di campionato 450SX.

“Questo è qualcosa per cui abbiamo lavorato per tutta la stagione”, ha detto Tomac. “Per essere fuori la moto per tutto il tempo, penso che mi aspettavo troppo da me subito. Ma Daytona è una gara che aspettavo con ansia da tutto l’anno, si tratta di un evento che tutti vogliono vincere. Mi sentivo grande per tutto il giorno e l’ho mostrato per come mi sono qualificato, ho vinto la mia Heat e con una vittoria del Main Event. Non potrei essere più felice! “

Dungey ha continuato la sua fenomenale striscia di podi con il secondo posto con Marvin Musquin al terzo e la sua seconda apparizione sul podio in un debutto sorprendentemente forte nella classe regina. La Yamaha con Chad Reed ha potuto solo prendere il dodicesimo ed è stato esplicito su quello che era una pista con ‘una linea’ e con piccole possibilità di sorpasso. Aiutato dalla partenza, Tomac ha fatto la curva allineato con Dungey. Reed e Ken Roczen non sono stati così fortunati. Eli Tomac continua la stagione SX 2016 con la vittoria sensazionale a Daytona!

In AMA 250 il campione Pro Motocross Jeremy Martin ha stabilito l’ultimo episodio della controversia East Coast. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Arnaud Tonus ha registrato un miglior risultato SX con il sesto posto.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross salta fuori USA confini per l’unica volta nel 2016 questo fine settimana con il Rogers Centre di Toronto impostato per mettere in scena dieci round.

Eli Tomac has taken his time to gel with the works Monster Energy Kawasaki since going ‘green’ in the autumn of 2015 but the 23 year old finally showed his massive potential on the KX450F after a gate-to-flag maiden victory last weekend at one of the most iconic Supercross races of them all.

The vast Daytona Speedway housed the soft, rough and ‘motocrossy’ layout for the ninth round of seventeen and across the distinct black dirt ‘3’ was unbeatable to keep series leader Ryan Dungey in check and clasp his second podium finish of the season. The result closed Tomac up to within nine points of Jason Anderson and the top three of the 450SX championship standings. It was also a glimpse of the athlete that owned three rounds of the 2015 SX term and who ruled the opening motos of the AMA Pro National motocross campaign until a shoulder injury ruined his ‘outdoor’ title hopes last summer.

“This is something we’ve been working towards all season,” Tomac said. “For being off the bike for as long I was, I think I was expecting too much of myself right away. Daytona is a race I’ve been looking forward to all year and it’s an event everyone wants to win. I was feeling great all day and it showed as I qualified first, won my heat and capping it off with a Main Event win. I couldn’t be happier!”

Dungey continued his phenomenal podium streak with second place as Marvin Musquin ran to third and his second appearance on the box in a surprisingly strong debut term in the premier class. Yamaha’s Chad Reed could only take twelfth and was outspoken on what he felt was a ‘one line’ track with little passing opportunities. It helped that Tomac made a decent start, rounding the first corner aligned with Dungey. In AMA 250 motocross champion Jeremy Martin ruled the latest episode of the East Coast dispute. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Arnaud Tonus posted a best SX result yet with sixth spot.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross jumps outside USA borders for the only time in 2016 this weekend with the Rogers Centre in Toronto set to stage round ten.
