STEWART SOFFRE IN ANAHEIM SUPERCROSS CRASH

Incredibilmente tutti aspettavano James Stewart e, vedendo la sua “pesantezza” accumulata dallo stop di un anno e passa dalle competizioni, in molti si sono chiesti se James sarebbe stato lo stesso di un tempo, si parlava già di pensione e lui stesso nella conferenza ha dichiarato che nel periodo di stop ebbe una visione di quello che potrebbe essere la sua vita senza le gare, bè, forse questo pensiero ha fatto si che a James la fiamma non è spenta! In prova ha girato forte, nella Heat ha girato forte e in sicurezza, così nel Main Event che nelle prime tre tornate era concentrato tanto da battagliare e scambiarsi le posizioni per un eventuale vittoria, ma poi…. Di seguito il comunicato riguardo la valutazione per la caduta e la perdita dei sensi, una cosa non semplice da recuperare con una sola settimana dalla prossima gara.

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing James Stewart sembrava solido nel suo ritorno alle competizioni in sella alla sua Suzuki RM-Z450 per l’inizio del / FIM Mondiale Supercross stagione 2016 Monster Energy AMA Sabato sera all’ Angel Stadium di Anaheim, in California, ma mentre combatteva nella parte anteriore nelle prime fasi del Main Event è stato colpito da un altro pilota e ha subito una caduta pesante.

La gara è stata sospesa con bandiera rossa, Stewart è stato scosso abbastanza che non era in grado di fare il riavvio.

Dopo quasi un anno e mezzo di pausa, molti si chiesero quanto tempo ci sarebbe voluto per Stewart di scrollarsi di dosso le ragnatele. Non ci volle molto, infatti era incredibilmente veloce a bordo della sua potente e agile Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450, il terzo miglior tempo della giornata in qualifica, facendo segnare un 1: 01,092 al circuito di Anaheim in America.

“Sono incoraggiato da come mi sento nella ripresa”, ha detto Stewart dopo le qualifiche. “Sono entusiasta, tutta la squadra è entusiasta ed è bello essere di nuovo in gara.”

Stewart ha fatto una gara intelligente nella sua heat per finire terzo e mettersi al sicuro nel Main Event.

Tutto sembrava essere pronto per un ottimo finale, soprattutto dopo una partenza a razzo e in lotta per la vittoria come nei primi anni. Ma poi il disastro: Al terzo giro Stewart prende una curva all’esterno con un ampio raggio, una curva a 180 gradi e pronto a cercare di ripassare Jason Anderson, quando all’improvviso la Suzuki di Stewart è stata sbattuta da un altro pilota. Stewart è stato buttato giù dall’high-side della sua Suzuki, picchia duro e sviene.

E ‘stato un modo difficile da finire quello che era, fino a quel momento, un grande fine settimana.

“James è arrivato pronto gara”, ha detto Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Mike Webb. “Tutto stava andare secondo i piani, forse anche meglio di quanto ci aspettassimo. Era forte nelle prove cronometrate, uscito e qualificato direttamente nel Main dalla sua Heat, ha avuto un grande inizio in finale e poi dal nulla finisce a terra a causa di terzi e non per colpa sua. E ‘un vero peccato per tutto il lavoro in cui ci ha messo in questo ritorno, ma io sono fiducioso che sarà in grado di riprendersi presto e rapidamente. ”

Stewart è in corso di valutazione per il suo status e la gara della prossima settimana a San Diego, valuterà giorno per giorno. Il team rilascerà un aggiornamento quando disponibile.

Stewart è stato l’unico pilota in gara coi colori Yoshimura Suzuki. Il suo compagno di squadra Blake Baggett continua a recuperare da infortuni subiti in allenamento pre-campionato. Baggett sta compiendo buoni progressi e spera di tornare a correre alla fine del mese in cui la serie visita Oakland, in California.

STEWART SUFFERS IN ANAHEIM SUPERCROSS CRASH

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart looked solid in his return to competition aboard his Suzuki RM-Z450 for the start of the 2016 Monster Energy AMA/ FIM World Supercross season on Saturday night at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, but while battling near the front early in the Main Event he was hit by another rider and suffered a hard crash.

The race was red-flagged, but Stewart was shaken-up enough that he was unable to make the restart.

After nearly a year-and-a-half hiatus, many wondered how long it would take for Stewart to shake off the cobwebs. It didn’t take long for that question to be answered as he was blazingly-fast aboard his powerful and nimble-handling Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 and turned-in the third best time of the day in qualifying, clocking a 1:01.092 around the challenging Anaheim circuit in America.

“I’m encouraged by how I feel in the comeback,” Stewart said after qualifying. “I’m excited, the whole team is excited and it’s great to be back in the competition.”

Stewart ran a smart race in his Heat to finish third and put himself safely into the Main.

Everything seemed to be lining-up for an excellent final, especially after a rocket-start off the line and battling for the lead in the early going. But then disaster: On the third lap Stewart ran a wide arc through a 180-degree turn and then cut down to try to repass Jason Anderson, when suddenly Stewart’s Suzuki was slammed by another rider. Stewart was flung-off the high-side of his Suzuki, landed hard and knocked unconscious. He came to rest in a bad part of the track and officials red-flagged the race for the rider’s safety.

It was a difficult way to end what was, up to that point, a great weekend.

“James came in ready to race,” said Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Mike Webb. “Everything was going to plan, maybe even better than we expected. He was strong in timed qualifying, went out and qualified directly into the Main from his Heat race, had a great start in the final and then out of nowhere he ends up on the ground due to no fault of his own. It’s a real shame for all the work he put into this comeback, but I’m hopeful he’ll be able to bounce back soon and quickly put this behind him.”

Stewart is being evaluated and his status for next week’s race in San Diego is day-to-day. The team will issue an update when available.

Stewart was the only rider flying the Yoshimura Suzuki colours. His team-mate Blake Baggett continues to recover from injuries suffered in pre-season practice. Baggett is making good progress and is hoping to return to racing at the end of the month when the series visits Oakland, California.
