First win for Tixier and Kawasaki

Jordi Tixier: “E ‘stato un buon fine settimana, e la pista era finalmente in ottime condizioni per le gare, anche se l’orario era stretto con una breve pausa tra le manche. Ho iniziato due volte in seconda posizione, e nella prima manche MX2 ci ho messo qualche giro a trovare il mio buon ritmo ed ho ottenuto il comando; la seconda gara era migliore, mentre passavo Tonkov durante il primo giro. Nella super finale i piloti MX2 iniziano prima, così sono stato il primo leader della corsa; poi il più veloce dei piloti MX1 si sono uniti a noi, abbiamo avuto una buona battaglia con Clement (Desalle) e Kevin (Strijbos) mentre passavamo altri più volte. Infine Strijbos ha vinto, ma ero felice con la terza posizione. Era la mia prima gara di motocross con la Kawasaki e sono davvero contento della moto; avremo altre due gare, Valence e poi Mantova per preparare il primo GP, ma io sono già molto fiducioso. ”

For his first race on the 250 Kawasaki Monster, reigning MX2 World Champion Jordi Tixier did a couple of perfect races in Hawkstone Park (Great Britain) as he won the MX2 class and battle with the 450 in the last race of the weekend.

After one month of intensive training in Southern France, Jordi joined teammate Thomas Covington in Great Britain for their first pre season race. So early in the season the riders faced some foggy conditions during the practice sessions, but the track was nearly perfect for the races with two heats per class and one super final to end the program. In both MX2 races Jordi came second at the start and then moved to the lead, winning both races to ensure the overall MX2 win. In the super final, as the 250 riders start a few seconds earlier than the 450, Jordi led the first part of the race and then battled with the fastest 450 riders for the final win; third overall and first MX2 rider, Jordi will now race Valence International next weekend alongside Dylan Ferrandis and Thomas Covington.

Fifth in the timed practice period, Thomas didn’t had a very good start in the first MX2 race, but the young American came back fifth and was expecting an even better result in race two as he was fourth at the start. But a small crash pushed him back in the pack, and after another crash he retired but showed a good speed through the day and is now impatient to be at Valence next weekend.

Jordi Tixier: “It was a good weekend, and the track was finally in very good conditions for the races even if the time table was tight with a short break between the races. I started twice in second position, and in the first MX2 heat it took me some laps to find my good rhythm and got the lead; the second race was better, as I passed Tonkov during the opening lap. In the super final the MX2 riders start first, so I was the first leader of the race; then the fastest MX1 riders joined us, we had a good battle with Clement (Desalle) and Kevin (Strijbos) as we passed each others several times. Finally Strijbos won, but I was happy with the third position. It was my first motocross race with the Kawasaki and I’m really happy with the bike; we’ll enter two other races, Valence and then Mantova to prepare the first GP but I’m already very confident.”
