Sta diventando un campionato di Motocross con dei campioni quello neozelandese di questa stagione. Ben Townley sta dimostrando di essere praticamente imbattibile nella serie nazionale di questa stagione. Il pilota della Honda Dry Carlton vince il grande annuale Whakatane Summercross subito dopo Natale e poi ha vinto il GP di Motocross Woodville alla fine di gennaio.

Ha vinto il primo round di quattro nei campionati Motocross Nuova Zelanda vicino a Timaru due settimane fa ed è stato supremo nella serie nazionale vicino Morrinsville domenica.
“È stata una giornata eccezionale per me,” ha dichiarato Townley in seguito. “Questo è stato il miglior risultato che ho avuto da lungo tempo. Ci sono ancora un sacco di miglioramenti da fare(con le impostazioni sulla moto ogni giorno). Guardando al futuro del National australiano … è importante per me continuare a fare bei risultati. Le gare saranno più lunghe in Australia, quindi è importante che io continui a spingere nelle mie gare qui in Nuova Zelanda”.

Ben Townley ha segnato un’altra tripletta di vittorie nella classe MX1 e raddoppiato il suo vantaggio nel campionato ora a 18 punti sul rivale Josh Coppins (MXDK Yamaha), amico di vecchia data di Motueka, mentre il detentore del titolo MX1 Cody Cooper (Moto City Suzuki), di Mount Maunganui si è spostato dal quarto al terzo posto domenica.
