Bonacorsi fa un debutto impressionante nella MXGP con il sesto posto assoluto in Portogallo
Il nuovo acquisto del Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, Andrea Bonacorsi, ha impressionato al suo debutto in MXGP con uno straordinario sesto posto assoluto nel fango profondo di Agueda, in Portogallo. Il compagno di squadra Calvin Vlaanderen ha ottenuto risultati contrastanti ma mantiene il settimo posto nella classifica del campionato mentre la serie passa dal quinto round.
Dimostrando eccezionali capacità di guida nel fango sul circuito di Agueda, colpito da forti piogge, “Bona” era sicuramente tutt’uno con la sua nuova Yamaha YZ450FM. Durante la gara di apertura, l’italiano ha lottato con competenza nella top 10 e ha corso fino al quinto posto per un paio di giri prima di essere superato da Brian Bogers. Ciononostante, il sesto posto di Andrea è stato un risultato d’esordio eccezionale.
Dopo essere partito fuori dalla top 10 in Gara Due, l’italiano ha effettuato ben cinque sorpassi nel secondo giro portandosi al settimo posto. Mantenendo un ritmo impressionante nonostante il rapido deterioramento della pista, la 132 è rimasta sesta per gran parte della gara prima che un paio di errori nelle fasi finali portassero Andrea all’ottavo posto al traguardo. Il sesto posto assoluto è stato sicuramente uno straordinario debutto in MXGP per il talentuoso giovane pilota.
Calvin Vlaanderen era fiducioso di fare una buona prestazione dopo essersi qualificato quarto sabato. Sfortunatamente, mentre correva comodamente nella top 10 in Gara Uno con le peggiori condizioni della pista, un raro problema tecnico lo ha relegato al 20° posto. Riprendendosi in Gara Due, Vlaanderen si è piazzato nono, quindicesimo assoluto. La cosa più importante è che Calvin rimane settimo nella classifica del campionato.
Dopo un fine settimana misto per il team, il Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross 2024 continua il prossimo fine settimana in Spagna con l’MXGP della Galizia.

“Ieri mi sentivo benissimo sulla moto e la mia velocità era buona, ma oggi la pista era completamente diversa a causa del tempo. In Gara Uno correvo nella top 10, vicino ai primi cinque, ma poi si è verificato un problema con la moto. La seconda gara è andata meglio e ho gestito bene la gara per il nono posto. Mi sento bene sulla moto e sono in forma, in salute e pronto per il prossimo fine settimana.

“Sono davvero contento di oggi. Avrebbe potuto andare meglio visto che ho commesso degli errori in entrambe le gare, ma per il mio primo GP nella classe MXGP devo essere felice, soprattutto nelle condizioni che abbiamo visto oggi. Sapevo che avrei potuto fare bene sulla 450, quindi grazie alla Yamaha e al team per aver reso tutto ciò possibile. Sono emozionato per il prossimo fine settimana”. “Un sesto posto nella mia gara d’esordio nella MXGP, non avrei osato sognarlo. Ma dopo la gara posso dire che poteva andare anche meglio. A pochi giri dalla fine della seconda manche ero praticamente quarto nel GP. Ebbene sì, non posso lamentarmi. Questa non è stata la pista più semplice per passare dalla MX2 alla MXGP. Il fango e i solchi profondi erano molto difficili. Finire sesto è fantastico. Se ero nervoso? Un po’ sabato. Ma domenica i nervi erano completamente scomparsi, perché mi sento molto più a mio agio sulla 450 che sulla 250. E adesso? Impara molto, migliora e continua a divertirti.

Bonacorsi Makes Impressive MXGP Debut with Sixth Overall in Portugal
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s new signing, Andrea Bonacorsi, impressed in his MXGP debut with a stunning sixth overall in the deep mud of Agueda, Portugal. Teammate Calvin Vlaanderen delivered mixed results but maintains seventh in the Championship Standings as the series moves on from round five.
Showing exceptional mud-riding skills around the Agueda circuit, which had been battered with heavy rain, ‘Bona’ was certainly at one with his new Yamaha YZ450FM. Throughout the opening race, the Italian battled competently inside the top 10 and ran as high as fifth for a couple of laps before being passed by Brian Bogers. Nevertheless, Andrea’s sixth-place finish was an exceptional debut result.
After starting outside the top 10 in Race Two, the Italian made an incredible five passes on lap two to move into seventh. Maintaining an impressive pace despite the rapidly deteriorating race track, the 132 held sixth for most of the race before a couple of mistakes in the closing stages dropped Andrea to eighth at the finish. Ultimately placing sixth overall, it was certainly an amazing MXGP debut for the talented young racer.
Calvin Vlaanderen was confident of delivering a strong showing after qualifying fourth on Saturday. Unfortunately, while running comfortably inside the top 10 in Race One with the track conditions at their worst, a rare technical issue relegated him to 20th. Bouncing back in Race Two, Vlaanderen placed ninth for 15th overall. Most importantly, Calvin remains seventh in the Championship Standings.
Following a mixed weekend for the team, the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship continues next weekend in Spain with the MXGP of Galicia.

“Yesterday I felt great on the bike and my speed was good, but today it was a totally different track because of the weather. In Race One I was running inside the top 10, close to the top five but then a bike issue happened. The second race was better, and I managed the race well for ninth. I’m feeling good on the bike, and I’m fit, healthy, and ready for next weekend.”

“I’m really happy about today. It could have been better as I made mistakes in both races but for my first GP in the MXGP class, I have to be happy, especially in the conditions like we saw today. I knew I could do good on the 450 so thanks to Yamaha and the team for making it all happen. I’m excited for next weekend.” “A sixth place in my rookie MXGP race, I wouldn’t have dared to dream that. But after the race I can say that it could even have been better. A few laps before the end of the second moto I was virtually fourth in the GP. Well yeah, I can’t complain. This was not the easiest track to switch from MX2 to MXGP. The mud and the deep ruts were very tricky. To finish sixth is awesome. If I was nervous? A bit on Saturday. But on Sunday the nerves were completely gone, because I feel a lot more comfortable on the 450 than on the 250. And what now? Learn a lot, improve and continue to enjoy.”
