Andrea Bonacorsi passa alla MXGP per il resto del 2024
Il campione in carica EMX250, Andrea Bonacorsi, passerà alla classe regina con il team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP per il resto della stagione del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross 2024, in sostituzione di Maxime Renaux che è attualmente indisponibile per infortunio.
Bonacorsi, insieme a Calvin Vlaanderen, correrà con una YZ450FM nella classe regina dopo il suo impressionante debutto in 450cc lo scorso anno, dove finì terzo nella classe Open al Monster Energy Motocross of Nations a Ernee, in Francia.
Il ventunenne italiano, recentemente convertito, passa alla classe regina grazie al suo miglior risultato nella sua stagione di debutto in MX2, l’ultima volta in Trentino, dove ha conquistato il terzo posto in Gara Due. Bonacorsi è ora completamente concentrato sul testare la sua nuova YZ450FM, in attesa di fare il suo debutto in MXGP al quinto round del Campionato mondiale di motocross ad Agueda, in Portogallo.

“Non vedo l’ora di passare alla classe 450. Non è stata una decisione facile dopo aver dimostrato di poter correre davanti nella MX2 in Trentino, ma sento che la 450 si adatta molto meglio a me e il mio potenziale è molto più alto su questa moto. Il mio obiettivo sarà quello di imparare la moto il più velocemente possibile e di migliorare fine settimana dopo fine settimana, come stavo già facendo nella mia stagione da rookie in MX2. Quindi, per me, l’approccio sarà lo stesso, solo in una nuova classe”.

Essendo un pilota che forse per altezza e peso si adatta meglio alla 450 e dopo una lunga chiacchierata invernale in cui ha espresso il desiderio di salire di livello, Andrea Bonacorsi è stata la scelta chiara. “Bona” ha corso con una YZ450FM al Motocross delle Nazioni lo scorso anno ed è stato impressionante, finendo terzo nella classe Open al suo debutto in 450. Ha appena compiuto 21 anni e abbiamo già visto di cosa è capace. Abbiamo piena fiducia nelle sue capacità e crediamo che costituirà un grande valore aggiunto per la squadra. Mentre non vediamo l’ora di avere Bona a bordo e di vederlo progredire nel corso della stagione man mano che acquisisce fiducia ed esperienza, non vediamo l’ora anche dell’eventuale ritorno di Jago e Maxime, e auguriamo loro il meglio in assoluto per il loro recupero”.

Andrea Bonacorsi Moves Up to MXGP for Remainder of 2024
Reigning EMX250 Champion, Andrea Bonacorsi, will step up to the premier class with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team for the remainder of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship season, replacing Maxime Renaux who is currently sidelined through injury.
Bonacorsi, alongside Calvin Vlaanderen, will race a YZ450FM in the premier class following his impressive 450cc debut last year, where he finished third in the Open class at the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations in Ernee, France.
The recently turned 21-year-old Italian steps up to the premier class off the back of his best result in his MX2 debut season last time out in Trentino, where he claimed third place in Race Two. Bonacorsi is now fully focused on testing his new YZ450FM, as he looks forward to making his MXGP debut at the fifth round of the Motocross World Championship in Agueda, Portugal.

“I’m looking forward to moving up to the 450 class. It wasn’t an easy decision after showing that I can run up front in MX2 in Trentino, but I feel like the 450 suits me much better, and my potential is much higher on this bike. My goal will be to learn the bike as quickly as possible and to improve weekend by weekend like I was already doing in my rookie season in MX2. So, for me, the approach will be the same, just in a new class.”
