TERZO ASSOLUTO PER CAMDEN MCLELLAN AL MXGP DELLA SARDEGNA!
Camden McLellan di Monster Energy Triumph Racing si è assicurato il suo primo podio assoluto nel Campionato del mondo MX2 di quest’anno con uno straordinario terzo all’MXGP della Sardegna! Gareggiando sul tracciato di sabbia profonda di Riola Sardo in Sardegna, McLellan è stato incredibilmente veloce e costante per tutto il fine settimana a bordo della sua Triumph TF 250-X mentre Mikkel Haarup ha superato gli incidenti in entrambe le gare per il settimo posto.
Pieno di fiducia dopo essersi piazzato quarto nella gara di qualificazione MX2, Camden McLellan si è schierato per il terzo round in Sardegna concentrato sul successo. Beneficiando della buona partenza di gara uno, il sudafricano è riuscito a completare il primo giro in quinta posizione e a metà gara è passato in terza posizione. Capace di mantenere il suo ritmo elevato fino alla fine, McLellan si è assicurato un impressionante terzo posto nella gara di apertura della giornata.
Sapendo che un ottimo piazzamento in gara due gli avrebbe assicurato un risultato complessivo sul podio, McLellan era ancora una volta ansioso di stupire. Non replicando esattamente la partenza di gara uno, il diciannovenne ha rapidamente compiuto numerosi giri veloci per portarsi al quinto posto al quinto giro. Ancora una volta in grado di mantenere il suo ritmo fino al traguardo, il quinto posto di Camden si è assicurato il terzo posto assoluto su uno dei circuiti probabilmente più difficili del calendario. Dopo la sua prestazione impressionante, McLellan risale di due posizioni fino al settimo posto nella classifica del Campionato del mondo MX2.
Per Mikkel Haarup, sfortunate cadute gli hanno impedito di lottare per il podio in Sardegna. Il quinto posto in gara uno è stato il momento clou del fine settimana del danese, che alla fine si è piazzato settimo assoluto e rimane sesto nella classifica del campionato.
Camden McLellan: “Devo davvero ringraziare tutto il team Monster Energy Triumph Racing per questo risultato. Mi hanno dato una possibilità e sta davvero iniziando a dare i suoi frutti e sto migliorando ad ogni giro che passa. È stato un fine settimana davvero lungo e difficile e sono piuttosto stanco, ma tutto il duro lavoro è valso la pena. Ancora una volta, voglio solo ringraziare ancora una volta la squadra per tutto quello che fanno. Grazie ragazzi!”
Mikkel Haarup: “Abbiamo finito qui a Riola Sardo ed è stato un fine settimana difficile. Sono stato davvero contento della mia guida, anche se oggi non sono stato facile con me stesso. Ho dovuto lottare davvero duramente in Gara1 dopo essere caduto e sono arrivato quinto, il che è stato un ottimo risultato considerando che ero così indietro nel gruppo. Poi in gara due sono caduto alla prima curva, quindi ancora una volta avevo molto lavoro da fare. Sono tornato al nono posto, quindi non è stato poi così male. La mia velocità è buona, ma sono solo un po’ frustrato per gli errori che ho commesso questo fine settimana”.
Vincent Bereni – Team Manager Monster Energy Triumph Racing: “Per Camden, questo fine settimana ha fatto un passo davvero grande con la sua guida. Fin dalla prima volta che è sceso in pista è stato veloce e la sua ricompensa è stata il podio. Ciò dimostra che il duro lavoro paga e che non ha commesso errori per tutto il fine settimana, quindi merita davvero ciò che ha ottenuto. Anche Mikkel è stato veloce per tutto il fine settimana, il che è ovviamente positivo, è stato solo sfortunato che alcuni errori gli siano costati. Non abbiamo corso con la moto in condizioni come quelle di oggi – sabbia profonda e clima caldo – e non abbiamo avuto alcun problema, quindi dimostra che le nostre moto sono veloci e affidabili. So che tutta la squadra si sente davvero positiva e non vediamo l’ora che arrivi il prossimo fine settimana a Pietramurata.

THIRD OVERALL FOR CAMDEN MCLELLAN AT MXGP OF SARDEGNA!
Monster Energy Triumph Racing’s Camden McLellan has secured his first overall podium result in this year’s MX2 World Championship with a stunning third at the MXGP of Sardegna! Racing at the notoriously deep sand track of Riola Sardo in Sardinia, McLellan was incredibly fast and consistent all weekend long aboard his Triumph TF 250-X machine while Mikkel Haarup overcame crashes in both races for seventh.
Full of confidence after placing fourth in the MX2 Qualifying Race, Camden McLellan lined up for round three in Sardinia focused on success. Benefitting from his strong start in race one, the South African progressed from completing the opening lap in fifth and moved into third halfway through the moto. Able to maintain his high pace to the end, McLellan would secure an impressive third in the opening race of the day.
Knowing a strong finish in race two would secure an overall podium result, McLellan was once again eager to impress. Not quite replicating his race one start, the 19-year-old quickly reeled off multiple fast laps to move into fifth on lap five. Once again able to sustain his pace to the finish, Camden’s fifth-place result secured third overall at arguably one of the toughest circuits on the calendar. Following his impressive performance, McLellan moves up two places to seventh in the MX2 World Championship standings.
For Mikkel Haarup, unfortunate crashes prevented him from challenging for the podium in Sardinia. Fifth in race one was the highlight of the Dane’s weekend, who ultimately placed seventh overall and remains sixth in the championship standings.

They took a chance on me and it’s really starting to pay off and I’m getting better with every passing round. It’s been a really long, tough weekend and I’m pretty tired, but all the hard work has been worth it. Once again, I just want to thank the team again for everything they do. Thanks guys!”
Mikkel Haarup: “We’re done here in Riola Sardo and it’s been a tough weekend. I was really happy with my riding although I didn’t make it easy on myself today. I had to really fight hard in race one after crashing and I came through to fifth, which was a great result considering that I was so far back in the pack. Then in race two, I crashed in the first turn so again I had a lot of work to do. I got back to ninth so that wasn’t too bad. My speed is good but I’m just a little frustrated with the mistakes I made this weekend.”
Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Racing Team Manager: “For Camden, he made a really big step this weekend with his riding. From the first time he got on track he was fast, and his reward was a trip to the podium. It shows that hard work pays off and he made no mistakes all weekend, so he really deserves what he has achieved. Mikkel was also fast all weekend, which is of course positive, he was just unfortunate that a few mistakes cost him. We’ve not raced the bike in conditions like today – deep sand and hot weather – and we had no problems at all, so it shows that our bikes are fast and reliable. I know the whole team is feeling really positive and we’re all looking forward to next weekend in Pietramurata.”
