JEREMY SEEWER QUARTO NELLE QUALIFICHE DELLA SARDEGNA
Jeremy Seewer del Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP ha ottenuto un solido quarto posto nelle qualifiche per il round sardo del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross MXGP sulla pista di Riola Sardo tra le dune di sabbia che si affacciano sul Mediterraneo.
Lo svizzero ha utilizzato la trazione e le prestazioni della KX450-SR alla perfezione mentre attraversava il gruppo da un cancello centrale per affrontare la gara di qualificazione. Nel giro di poche curve è stato respinto al terzo posto dopo essere saltato fuori da un terrapieno, ma poi si è stabilizzato su un ritmo solido, cedendo solo un’ulteriore posizione a un riconosciuto specialista della sabbia a metà gara, per il suo miglior risultato in qualifica della stagione. ad oggi in quarta.
Jeremy Seewer: “So che devi solo essere tra i primi quindici al cancello per prendere il via qui, quindi non ero stressato stamattina quando non ho segnato un giro veloce. Sapevo che sarebbe stato un GP difficile per me su una pista così brutale dato che stiamo ancora imparando insieme una nuova moto in questa fase della stagione; iniziamo ogni GP un passo indietro rispetto a una serie di campioni sul set-up e questo è particolarmente difficile su questo tipo di pista quindi fare l’holeshot è stato davvero positivo in quanto ha confermato che stiamo progredendo bene insieme. Il quarto posto oggi è stato davvero buono, quindi cercherò di mantenere il mio slancio, restare calmo, concentrarmi sulla mia guida e sui miei giri, e spero che riusciremo a tirare fuori domani un risultato simile. Non faceva molto caldo come oggi in piena estate e non siamo abituati con temperature intorno ai dieci gradi in Belgio, ma preferisco quando fa caldo quindi è stato bello.”
Romain Febvre, quinto in una serrata sessione di prove cronometrate, ha optato per una posizione di partenza a metà porta nella gara di qualificazione per aprire la curva di entrata alla prima curva, ma il francese è caduto dopo essersi toccato con un altro pilota all’apice della curva e ha affrontato un lungo e duro inseguimento dal fondo del gruppo. Nel giro di due giri aveva già nel mirino la top ten, ma i danni causati dall’incidente alla prima curva lo hanno costretto ad un fuori gara e partirà dal cancello esterno nelle manche del GP di domani.

JEREMY SEEWER FOURTH IN SARDINIAN QUALIFYING
Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer posted a solid fourth-placed finish in Qualifying for the Sardinian round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at the Riola Sardo track in the sand dunes overlooking the Mediterranean.
The Swiss utilised KX450-SR traction and performance to perfection as he powered across the pack from a central gate to holeshot the Qualifying race. Within a few turns he had been pushed back to third after jumping out of a berm but then settled down into a solid rhythm, only surrendering one further position to an acknowledged sand specialist at half-distance, for his best Qualifying result of the season-to-date in fourth.
Jeremy Seewer: “I know you only need to be around the top-fifteen to the gate to take the start here so I wasn’t stressed this morning when I didn’t post a top lap. I knew this was going to be a tough GP for me on such a brutal track as we are still learning a new bike together at this stage of the season; we start each GP one step behind a host of champions on set-up and that is particularly tough on this type of track so taking the holeshot was really positive as it confirmed that we are progressing well together. Fourth today was really good, so I will try to keep my momentum, stay calm, focus on my riding and my laps, and hopefully we will come away with a similar result tomorrow. It wasn’t really hot like in mid-summer today and we are not used to it with temperatures around ten degrees in Belgium, but I prefer when it is warm so that was nice.”
Romain Febvre, fifth in a tight Timed Practice session, opted for a mid-gate start position in the Qualifying race to open up the angle of entry to the first turn, but the Frenchman fell after touching with another rider at the apex of the corner and faced a long tough chase from the back of the pack. Within two laps he already had the top-ten in his sights but damage from the first-turn incident forced him out of the race and he will start from the outside gate in tomorrow’s GP motos.
The Bike It Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team duo of Jack Chambers and Bobby Bruce in the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship faced a difficult Qualifying race. Bruce was looking at a solid top-twenty finish in seventeenth until pushed downfield by a late fall while Chambers was already tailed off behind the rest of the field by twenty seconds leaving turn one after being shunted off the track into a ditch. Setting similar lap times to the top-ten he was determinedly homing in on a top-twenty finish until a fall spoilt his chances and he too will start from the outside of the grid in each of tomorrow’s GP motos.
