Daytona International Speedway svela il design del percorso per il DAYTONA Supercross 2024
La leggenda del supercross Ricky Carmichael torna al corso di progettazione per il 17° anno consecutivo
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Il Daytona International Speedway ha svelato oggi l’attesissimo layout del percorso per il DAYTONA Supercross 2024, l’unico evento AMA Supercross della stagione della Florida, che si svolgerà durante la Bike Week presentata da Monster Energy.
Il cinque volte campione DAYTONA Supercross Ricky Carmichael ha progettato un altro percorso estenuante per il 17° anno consecutivo, con il layout del 2024 che presenta sfide molto diverse per i piloti rispetto agli anni passati.
“Ricky continua a stupire anno dopo anno con la creatività del suo percorso e vedere il layout che ha costruito questa volta non è diverso”, ha affermato Frank Kelleher, presidente del Daytona International Speedway. “Sia i piloti che i fan si divertiranno tantissimo con questo percorso e tutte le corse piene di azione che presenta. Sarà sicuramente un altro elettrizzante DAYTONA Supercross.
Il layout del percorso 2024 è un vero cambiamento rispetto ai precedenti percorsi DAYTONA Supercross, letteralmente. I corridori ora correranno nella direzione opposta lungo il famoso tratto anteriore del Daytona International Speedway, andando da destra a sinistra verso la curva 4 della pista.
“Ci sono sicuramente molte cose divertenti su questo circuito”, ha detto Carmichael. “Abbiamo il salto nel tunnel, che è una caratteristica iconica di DAYTONA Supercross, ma quello che vedrai che è un po’ diverso dagli anni passati è che ovunque non ci sia un salto, volevamo mantenere il più naturale erba possibile, solo perché in un certo senso mastica e progredisce durante la notte e ottiene queste linee naturali piuttosto che linee artificiali che vedresti su una normale pista.
“Una delle mie parti preferite è la sabbia della spiaggia. Penso che tutti possiamo essere d’accordo, al di fuori della corsia divisa, su quanto dramma crei quella sezione. Si sviluppano così tanti solchi, dossi, i ragazzi sfrecciano da lì, la terra vola… quindi tieni gli occhi su questo.
L’ultima volta che questi piloti sono stati al centro della scena al World Center of Racing, Eli Tomac ha fatto la storia, battendo il proprio record per diventare “Il re” di DAYTONA Supercross dopo essersi assicurato la sua settima vittoria sulla famosa pista. Tomac è attualmente alla pari con “Il re” della NASCAR, Richard Petty, per la maggior parte delle vittorie al Daytona International Speedway, e sta cercando di migliorare i suoi risultati con un’ottava vittoria nel 2024.
“Daytona è così unica perché la pista è una bestia vivente, cambia durante il giorno”, ha detto Tomac. “Ho avuto la fortuna di vincere l’evento sette volte, quindi quando tagli il traguardo e hai tutti i fan lì con te a goderti il momento… sotto questo aspetto, non c’è niente di simile.”
La 54esima DAYTONA Supercross annuale si svolgerà il 2 marzo 2024, con i piloti che affrontano il percorso di Carmichael sotto le luci del Daytona International Speedway come parte della Bike Week Presentata da Monster Energy.
La Bike Week è una celebrazione motociclistica di dieci giorni che inizia il 1 marzo e prosegue fino al 10 marzo, dopo le intense gare ad alta velocità della DAYTONA 200 che si sono svolte dal 7 al 9 marzo.

2024 DAYTONA SUPERCROSS TRACK MAP UNVEILED
Supercross legend Ricky Carmichael returns to design course for 17th year in a row
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona International Speedway today unveiled the highly anticipated course layout for the 2024 DAYTONA Supercross, Florida’s only AMA Supercross event of the season, taking place during Bike Week Presented by Monster Energy.
Five-time DAYTONA Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael has designed yet another grueling course for the 17th consecutive year, with the 2024 layout presenting some very different challenges for riders than in years past.
“Ricky continues to amaze year-after-year with his course creativity, and seeing the layout he’s constructed this time around is no different,” said Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway. “Both riders and fans are going to have a blast with this course and all that action-packed racing it presents. It’s for sure going to be another electrifying DAYTONA Supercross.”
The 2024 course layout is quite a switch up compared to previous DAYTONA Supercross courses – literally. Riders will now ride in the opposite direction alongside the famous frontstretch at Daytona International Speedway, going from right to left towards the track’s Turn 4.
“There are a lot of fun things about this racetrack for sure,” said Carmichael. “We’ve got the tunnel jump which is an iconic feature of DAYTONA Supercross, but what you’re going to see that’s a little different from years past is wherever there isn’t a jump, we wanted to keep as much of the natural grass as possible, just because it kind of chews up and progresses throughout the night and gets these natural lines rather than manmade lines that you’d see at a normal racetrack.
“One of my favorite parts is the beach sand. I think we all can agree, outside of the split lane, just how much drama that section creates. So many ruts develop, breaking bumps, guys are powering through there, dirt’s flying…so keep your eyes on that.”
Last time these riders took center stage at the World Center of Racing, Eli Tomac made history, besting his own record to become “The King” of DAYTONA Supercross after securing his seventh victory at the famed track. Tomac is currently tied with “The King” of NASCAR, Richard Petty, for most wins at Daytona International Speedway, and is looking to further his accomplishments with an eighth win in 2024.
“Daytona is so unique because the track is a living beast, it changes throughout the day,” said Tomac. “I’ve been lucky enough to win the event seven times so when you go across that finish line, and you’ve got all the fans right there with you enjoying the moment… in that aspect, there’s nothing like it.”
The 54th annual DAYTONA Supercross takes place on March 2, 2024, with riders tackling Carmichael’s course under the lights at Daytona International Speedway as part of Bike Week Presented by Monster Energy.
Bike Week is a ten-day motorcycle celebration kicking off on March 1, and continuing through March 10, following the intense, high-speed racing of the DAYTONA 200 running from March 7-9.
