Seewer si assicura il secondo pezzo di podio d’argento al Sizzling Sumbawa Grand Prix
Jeremy Seewer della Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP ha lottato contro il caldo e l’umidità intensi al decimo round del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross a Sumbawa, in Indonesia, per conquistare il suo secondo podio nel 2023. La sensazione svizzera ha conquistato il terzo posto assoluto, mentre il compagno di squadra Glenn Coldenhoff ha messo due prestazioni solide per assicurarsi il quarto posto.
In quello che si è rivelato essere il Gran Premio più duro della stagione fino ad ora, Seewer e Coldenhoff hanno prosperato nelle condizioni afose. Entrambi sono partiti tra i primi cinque nella gara di apertura e hanno rapidamente fatto la loro mossa, superando Mitch Evans al primo giro. Mentre le stelle della Yamaha hanno strappato la pista morbida e sconnessa, la loro strategia in Gara Uno si è concentrata sul risparmio di energia sufficiente per lottare per un podio in Gara Due.
Entrambi i piloti si sono sistemati nelle loro posizioni con Seewer che ha mantenuto un ritmo regolare e costante per assicurarsi il terzo posto, seguito da Coldenhoff al quarto.
Con meno di due ore per riposare e reidratarsi tra una gara e l’altra, Seewer e Coldenhoff si sono dati da fare per recuperare. Dopo un inizio selvaggio in Gara 2, entrambi i piloti si sono ritrovati a lottare per le posizioni tra i primi cinque.
Quando il sole ha iniziato a tramontare, gettando ombre insidiose sulla pista, Seewer ha lanciato un attacco in ritardo e si è scontrato con il leader del campionato Jorge Prado per il secondo posto. Il corridore svizzero ha messo in mostra velocità e grinta incredibili, strappando la posizione con un brillante passaggio allo spagnolo tra le wave.
Allo stesso tempo, Coldenhoff ha alzato la posta e sembrava pronto a sfidare i primi tre prima di prendere la ruota posteriore di Calvin Vlaanderen del Gebben van Venrooy Yamaha Supported Team mentre cercava di passare per il quarto posto. L’olandese è caduto goffamente ma è riuscito a risalire in sella e alla fine ha tagliato il traguardo al quinto posto.
Dopo un intenso round di gare, Seewer e Coldenhoff rimangono quinto e sesto nella classifica del campionato MXGP.
Il prossimo round del FIM Motocross World Championship si svolgerà a Lombok, in Indonesia, il prossimo fine settimana, sabato 1 e domenica 2 luglio.

“Oggi è stato solido. Ho guidato senza intoppi, sono rimasto al sicuro, ho fatto partenze decenti e non ho commesso troppi errori. Il caldo era brutale oggi, ma in realtà mi sentivo in forma e sono rimasto solido tutto il giorno. Romain (Febvre) è andato un po’ meglio oggi, ed è per questo che ha vinto, ma direi che io e Jorge (Prado) avevamo un ritmo simile. Sono contento del risultato, vorrei ancora un po’ di più, ma il podio è sempre bello e prenderò questo slancio nel prossimo GP”.

“Ho avuto la velocità questo fine settimana, soprattutto nella seconda manche. Mi sentivo bene e avevo alcune buone battute che avrebbero funzionato alla grande per il passaggio, ma quando ho visto Jeremy (Seewer) passare Calvin (Vlaanderen), ho deciso di andare. Ho fatto il sorpasso abbastanza velocemente, ma poi è entrato dall’esterno, e forse avrei dovuto frenare un po’ più forte, ma in quel momento ero impaziente e sono finito a terra. Una volta rialzato, ho provato a spingere di nuovo forte, ma alla fine il distacco era un po’ troppo grande e, a cinque minuti dalla fine, il caldo ha preso anche me. Quarto assoluto oggi. Non sono molto contento di questo, ma sono motivato a riprendermi il prossimo fine settimana.

Seewer Secures Second Piece of Podium Silverware at Sizzling Sumbawa Grand Prix
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer battled intense heat and humidity at the 10th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Sumbawa, Indonesia, to clinch his second podium finish in 2023. The Swiss sensation took third overall, while teammate Glenn Coldenhoff put in two solid performances to secure fourth.
In what turned out to be the toughest Grand Prix of the season so far, Seewer and Coldenhoff thrived in the sweltering conditions. Both started inside the top five in the opening race and quickly made their move, overtaking Mitch Evans on the first lap. While the Yamaha stars tore up the soft and bumpy track, their strategy in Race One focused on saving enough energy to battle for a podium finish in Race Two.
Both riders settled in their positions with Seewer maintaining a smooth and consistent pace to lock down third place, followed by Coldenhoff in fourth.
With under two hours to rest and rehydrate between races, Seewer and Coldenhoff hustled to recover. After a wild start to Race Two, both riders found themselves jostling for positions within the top-five.
As the sun started to set, casting tricky shadows on the track, Seewer launched a late attack and went bar-to-bar with championship leader Jorge Prado for second place. The Swiss rider showcased incredible speed and grit, snatching the position with a brilliant pass on the Spaniard through the waves.
At the same time, Coldenhoff upped the ante and looked set to challenge the top three before catching Gebben van Venrooy Yamaha Supported Team’s Calvin Vlaanderen’s rear wheel while trying to make a pass for fourth. The Dutchman fell awkwardly but made a solid remount and ultimately crossed the line in fifth.
Following an intense round of racing, Seewer and Coldenhoff remain fifth and sixth MXGP Championship Standings.
The next round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place in Lombok, Indonesia, next weekend, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July.

“Today was solid. I rode smooth, stayed safe, got decent starts and didn’t make too many mistakes. The heat was brutal today, but actually, I felt fit and stayed solid all day. Romain (Febvre) was a bit better today, and that is why he won, but I would say Jorge (Prado) and I were running a similar pace. I’m happy with the result, still would like a bit more, but podium is always good and I will take this momentum into the next GP.”

“I had the speed this weekend, especially in the second moto. I was feeling good, and I had some good lines that would have worked great for passing, but when I saw Jeremy (Seewer) pass Calvin (Vlaanderen), I decided to go. I made the pass pretty quickly, but then he cut in from the outside, and perhaps I should have braked a bit harder, but I was impatient at that moment and ended up going down. Once I was back up, I tried to push hard again, but in the end, the gap was a little bit too big, and with five minutes to go, the heat got me as well. Fourth overall today. Not really happy with that, but I’m motivated to bounce back next weekend.”
