ROMAIN FEBVRE GUARDA POSITIVAMENTE IN FRANCIA
Romain Febvre e il Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP rimangono positivi per il prossimo round del FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship in Francia dopo essere stati costretti a saltare il GP di questo fine settimana in Spagna.
Il francese è tornato sulla pista di Arroyomolinos dopo approfondite visite mediche sia presso il Medical Center della pista che presso l’ospedale di Madrid, che hanno confermato di aver riportato solo contusioni ai muscoli e nessuna frattura ossea alla spalla, ma il protocollo medico della FIM dopo un grave incidente significava che i funzionari non potevano permettergli di correre. Non è previsto alcun round della serie il prossimo fine settimana, ma sia il team che il pilota sono fiduciosi di un completo recupero in tempo per il prossimo GP, a Villars-sous-Ecot nella nativa Francia di Romain, il 20-21 maggio. Nonostante non abbia colto punti alla Spagna, il leader Kawasaki mantiene il quarto posto nella classifica di serie.
Romain Febvre: “Mi sento male, mi sento triste. Nell’incidente ho avuto un impatto piuttosto forte con una piccola commozione cerebrale e sono atterrato sulla spalla. Oggi sento un po’ di dolore alla spalla, ma niente di serio e niente di rotto. Pensavo che stamattina sarebbe stato più doloroso al collo e alla testa, ma mi sento abbastanza bene quindi è solo la spalla e non è rotto nulla, principalmente solo lividi ai muscoli. Mi sarebbe piaciuto correre ma il protocollo medico significava che non potevo guidare in Spagna; sarò buono per la Francia tra due settimane. Non vedevo arrivare la caduta in qualifica; ho fatto una buona partenza con Prado ma si è spostato un po ‘per prepararsi a girare e io ero vicino quindi mi sono anche dovuto muovere un po’. Non ho visto i ragazzi arrivare dall’esterno a tutto gas; prima abbiamo toccato i gomiti poi la mia ruota anteriore. Peccato per il campionato perché non ero lontano dai due ragazzi davanti e avevo ricominciato a guadagnare punti con un buon GP in Portogallo, ma ora perdo molto questo fine settimana. Ovviamente tutto sarà possibile ma non auguro sfortuna a nessuno quindi sarà dura per il campionato”.
Il collega del team KRT Mitch Evans ha perseverato mentre recupera la resistenza dopo che un infortunio al pollice di inizio stagione aveva interrotto il suo allenamento. Una scelta esterna dalle qualifiche gli ha lasciato poche possibilità di una buona partenza, ma i primi giri decisivi lo hanno visto quindicesimo durante le prime fasi di ogni gara; ha lottato ogni volta fino a un eventuale tredicesimo posto per classificarsi dodicesimo assoluto.
Mitch Evans: “Non siamo dove vorremmo essere, ma questo fine settimana è stato sicuramente un passo nella giusta direzione. Il nostro obiettivo per il fine settimana era la top 15 e ci siamo riusciti, ora non vedo l’ora di fare di più in Francia dopo altre due settimane di allenamento. Le mie partenze non sono state buone per tutto il fine settimana. Sento di pensare troppo al cancello; devo solo tornare alle origini ed essere più aggressivo quando il cancello si abbassa.

ROMAIN FEBVRE LOOKS FORWARD POSITIVELY TO FRANCE
Romain Febvre and the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP remain positive for the upcoming round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship in France after being forced to miss this weekend’s GP in Spain.
The Frenchman returned to the Arroyomolinos track today after extensive medical examination both at the track Medical Centre and at the hospital in Madrid confirmed that he had sustained only bruising to the muscles and no broken bones in his shoulder but FIM medical protocol after a serious accident meant that officials could not permit him to race. There is no round of the series next weekend but both team and rider are confident of a complete recovery in time for the next GP, at Villars-sous-Ecot in Romain’s native France, on May 20-21. Despite taking no points away from Spain the Kawasaki leader holds fourth place in the series standings.
Romain Febvre: “I feel bad; I feel sad. I had quite a big impact in the crash yesterday with a small concussion and I landed on my shoulder. I feel a little pain in my shoulder today but nothing serious and nothing is broken. I thought it would be more painful in the neck and the head this morning but I feel pretty good so it’s just the shoulder and nothing is broken, mainly just bruising to the muscles. I would have liked to race today but the medical protocol meant that I could not ride here in Spain; I will be good for France in two weeks’s time. I couldn’t see the crash in Qualifying coming; I had a good start with Prado but he moved over a little to prepare to turn and I was close so I also had to move a little. I didn’t see the guys coming from the outside flat-out; first we touched elbows then my front wheel. It’s bad for the championship because I was not far from the two guys in front and I had started to gain some points again with a good GP in Portugal but now I lose a lot this weekend. Of course everything will be possible but I don’t wish bad luck to anyone so it will be tough for the championship.”
KRT team colleague Mitch Evans persevered as he recovers endurance after an early-season thumb injury had interrupted his training. An outside gate-pick from Qualifying left him with little chance of a good start but decisive opening laps saw him fifteenth during the early stages of each race; he battled to an eventual thirteenth each time to be classified twelfth overall.
Mitch Evans: “We’re not where we want to be but this weekend was definitely a step in the right direction. Our goal going into the weekend was top-fifteen and we managed that, now I’m looking forward to more in France after two more weeks training. My starts weren’t good all weekend. I feel I’m over-thinking at the gate; I just need to get back to basics and be more aggressive when the gate drops.”
