Ancora un GP positivo per il team Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, il quinto stagionale del Campionato Mondiale FIM Motocross 2023: Jorge Prado ha portato la sua MC 450F sul podio del Gran Premio del Portogallo e mantiene stretta la tabella rossa di leader del campionato. Weekend positivo anche per Mattia Guadagnini e Simon Langenfelder.

Ancora un podio per Prado, che è attualmente l’unico pilota della MXGP ad essere finora sempre salito sul podio. Sesto nella manche di qualifica del sabato, Jorge in gara uno è stato perfetto dalla partenza alla bandiera a scacchi e ha raccolto la quinta vittoria di manche stagionale. Sfortunatamente, la seconda manche è stata un po’ più complicata perché dopo una buona uscita dal cancelletto nelle prime curve non ha trovato lo spazio per allungare ma è rimasto col gruppo di testa. Ha concluso la manche al sesto posto, ottenendo il terzo posto assoluto di giornata, e ora il suo vantaggio in campionato è salito a diciassette punti.

Jorge Prado: “Nel complesso, sono abbastanza contento della mia giornata. Sono in una buona posizione in campionato e sto guidando bene. Dopo la vittoria in gara uno, all’inizio della seconda manche sentivo di poter replicare quello nella prima ma ho perso alcune posizioni nelle prime fasi, ma poi ho tenuto un gran ritmo. Penso già al prossimo Gran Premio, che è quello di casa, in Spagna… sono entusiasta”.

Portando ancora la sua MC 450F nella top ten, Mattia Guadagnini si conferma pilota di valore assoluto nella massima categoria, la MXGP. Ottavo in qualifica, Mattia ha lottato nella top ten in entrambe le manche e ha conseguito il sesto posto in gara uno e l’ottavo in gara due. In classifica di GP è ottavo e in campionato è nono, in entrambi i casi il migliore dei piloti italiani.

Mattia Guadagnini: “È stato un buon fine settimana e sono abbastanza contento. Il risultato però poteva essere migliore. Non avevo il ritmo all’inizio delle gare, ma guidavo bene. Ero vicino ai primi cinque nella prima manche e nella seconda è andata anche meglio, perché ho spinto per tutta la manche. È stata una giornata positiva”.

Simon Langenfelder (MC 250F – MX2) ha confermato il suo valore anche in Portogallo, ma senza dubbio avrebbe potuto raccogliere di più. Secondo nella manche di qualifica, è arrivato quinto in rimonta nella prima manche, poi è stato in lotta per il podio nella seconda manche. Alla fine, ha tagliato il traguardo al quarto posto. Quinto di giornata, si conferma al quinto posto nella classifica di campionato.

Simon Langenfelder: “Il mio fine settimana è stato un po’ altalenante. Sono arrivato quinto nella prima manche, poi ho preso l’holeshot in gara due. Stavo rimanendo con i primi e mi sono divertito, ma non sono riuscito a mantenere il secondo posto . È stato un peccato, ma ci riproveremo nel prossimo GP “.

Un Gran Premio speciale attende ora il Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, poiché la squadra si avventurerà in Spagna per l’evento di casa di Jorge Prado. Si prevede che migliaia di fan accorreranno sul circuito per vederlo alla guida della sua MC 450F con la tabella rossa di leader di campionato.

PRADO RACES TO THIRD OVERALL AT MXGP OF PORTUGAL

Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing just finished another successful round of the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship, as Jorge Prado placed his MC 450F on the Grand Prix podium and kept his tight grip on the red plate that represents the fact that he is the championship leader.

Prado continued his fine run of form at the Grand Prix of Portugal, which is not far from his home, as he ripped to a comfortable victory in the first moto. Unfortunately, the second moto was a little trickier as a mediocre start halted his progress somewhat. ’61’ was classified in sixth place in that, which was enough for third overall on the day. Most importantly, his series lead is sat at seventeen points.
 
Jorge Prado: “Overall, I am quite happy with my day. I am in a good position in the championship and riding well. I feel like I can replicate what I did in moto one, so that is good. I got pushed wide at the start of the second moto, so I lost some positions early on. I charged hard at the end of the race and almost made progress. I am confident. It is my home Grand Prix next, so I am excited.“
 
Piloting the second MC 450F in the top ten, Mattia Guadagnini continued to cement himself as a clear frontrunner in the premier division. ‘101’ battled with the best in the world en route to 6-8 scores in the two motos – a consistent scorecard that left him eighth in the overall classification. Guadagnini is now ninth in the championship standings and hungry to edge closer to a maiden podium.
 
Simon Langenfelder had a consistent stint in Portugal, yet it was one that he would have undoubtedly wanted to extract more from. ‘516’ raced to fifth in moto one, after ending lap one in eighth, then put himself in podium contention in moto two. Eventually, he crossed the finish line in fourth and that left him in fifth in the overall classification. Fifth is also where he sits in the championship standings.
 
Mattia Guadagnini: “It was a good weekend and I am pretty happy. The result could be better though. I just did not have the rhythm early in the races, but the riding was good. I was close to the top five in moto one – that was good. The second race was even better, because I pushed the whole moto. It was a positive day.“
 
Simon Langenfelder: “My weekend was a little up and down. I finished in fifth in the first moto, then I took the holeshot in the second race. I was staying with the leader and having fun, but I could not hold onto second place. That was a shame, but we will reset for the next round. Hopefully I have a better feeling there.“
 
A special Grand Prix awaits Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing now, as the squad will venture into Spain for Jorge Prado’s home event. Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the relatively new circuit to see the red plate attached to his MC 450F.
