Tomac sale sul podio a Detroit
Eli Tomac di Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing ha superato le sfide per tornare sul podio con un terzo posto al decimo round del Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450 Championship a Detroit, Michigan.
Oltre a navigare nelle condizioni sdrucciolevoli del Ford Field, Tomac si sentiva meno del 100% durante il recupero da un muscolo del collo teso subito prima del round precedente a Indianapolis. Nonostante queste sfide, il campione in carica della 450SX ha continuato, si è qualificato quinto e poi è arrivato quarto nella sua gara di qualifica. Nell’evento principale, è partito bene al quarto posto ed è stato bloccato in battaglia con più piloti in lizza per gli ultimi due posti sul podio. Tomac si è fatto strada fino al secondo posto al 5° giro, ma è stato riportato al quarto posto un giro dopo e poi al quinto nel giro successivo. Il Coloradan ha gestito la sua gara e ha recuperato il quarto posto dopo la metà del percorso per poi passare al terzo posto negli ultimi istanti della gara dopo che il leader è caduto. Il settimo podio della stagione di Tomac ha segnato punti preziosi e lo vede ancora alla portata della corona, staccandosi dal suo rivale per il titolo di tre punti con sette round rimanenti.
Il team Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing torna a ovest al Lumen Field di Seattle, Washington, per l’undicesimo round del Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship e della serie SuperMotocross World Championship il 25 marzo.

“È stata una serata tranquilla. Ovviamente vogliamo più del terzo posto, ma è stato un discreto rimbalzo rispetto alla scorsa settimana perché stavo decisamente male a Indy. Stasera abbiamo avuto delle belle battaglie in corso. Ho commesso un errore lasciando la porta aperta, quindi impareremo da quello. Siamo ancora vicini alla testa della classifica, quindi continueremo a spingere”.

“Detroit è stato un grande passo in una direzione positiva. Eli era molto contento della moto e, considerando che era indietro solo all’80% con il collo, siamo seduti in una buona posizione. Abbiamo molte gare rimaste e alla fine siamo entrambi concentrati sul quadro generale. Lo faremo recuperare questa settimana e sarà pronto per Seattle.

Tomac Powers Through to Podium Finish in Detroit
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac overcame challenges to return to the podium with a third-place finish at last night’s 10th round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450 Championship in Detroit, Michigan.
In addition to navigating the slick hard-packed conditions at the Ford Field, Tomac was feeling less than 100% while recovering from a strained neck muscle sustained before the previous round in Indianapolis. Despite those challenges, the reigning 450SX champ pushed on, qualified fifth, and then finished fourth in his heat race. In the main event, he got a good start in fourth and was locked in battle with multiple riders vying for the last two podium spots. Tomac made his way to the runner-up spot on Lap 5 but was shuffled back to fourth a lap later and then to fifth on the following lap. The Coloradan managed his race and reclaimed fourth after the halfway point and then advanced to third in the final moments of the race after the leader went down. Tomac’s seventh podium of the season scored valuable points and has him still within reach of the crown, trailing his title rival by three points with seven rounds remaining.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team heads back West to the Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington, for Round 11 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and the SuperMotocross World Championship series on March 25.

“It was an okay night. Obviously, we want more than third, but it was a decent rebound from last week because I was definitely hurting in Indy. We had some good battles going on tonight. I made one mistake leaving the door open, so we’ll learn from that. We’re still close to the points lead, so we’ll keep pushing on.”

“Detroit was a big step in a positive direction. Eli was very happy with the motorcycle, and considering he was only back at 80% with his neck, we are sitting in a good position. We have lots of racing left, and we are both focused on the big picture at the end. We will get him recovered this week and ready for Seattle.”
