Argentina-Patagonia dà il benvenuto al Team HRC per MXGP Opener
Il campionato del mondo MXGP 2023 inizia questo fine settimana a Villa La Angostura, in Argentina, con Ruben Fernandez a capo dello sforzo del Team HRC per questo round di apertura. Purtroppo il campione del mondo 2022 e pilota più vincente di questo evento, Tim Gajser non sarà sull’aereo per il Sud America mentre si riprende da una frattura al femore subita al Campionato Internazionale Italiano ad Arco di Trento il 19 febbraio.
Ambientato in uno dei luoghi più belli del mondo, il tracciato si snoda dentro e fuori la foresta, all’ombra della catena montuosa delle Ande e offre una sfida ad alta velocità che piace sia ai piloti che ai fan.
Con Gajser in disparte, spetterà a Fernandez aprire la strada sulla sua Honda CRF450R, mentre lo spagnolo fa il suo debutto in MXGP per il Team HRC. L’anno scorso ha fatto un’ottima prestazione qui, facendo un sorpasso nelle ultime curve per ottenere un terzo posto in Gara2, dopo aver guidato parte della prima Gara. Ed è stato quel tipo di sforzo che ha attirato l’attenzione, dandogli alla fine la possibilità di correre per il team ufficiale quest’anno.
Dopo una pre-stagione di successo, che ha visto Fernandez vincere l’ultima volta al campionato spagnolo, il numero 70 cercherà di iniziare il campionato alla grande con questa sede che offre l’opportunità perfetta per farlo, poiché molti fan di lingua spagnola faranno il tifo a gran voce per lui per tutta la gara intorno a questa fantastica pista.

Sono estremamente entusiasta di questo fine settimana e di guidare in Argentina. È un tracciato divertente, e con tutti che parlano spagnolo, è facile per me interagire con tutti i fan. Certo, spero di fare bene e credo di avere la possibilità di farlo. L’anno scorso ho ottenuto un terzo posto in una manche e ho anche guidato una gara per un po’, quindi voglio ripeterlo e provare a fare ancora meglio se possibile. Sarà dura perché ci sono molti piloti veloci nella classe MXGP, ma questo è l’obiettivo ed è quello che mi aspetto da me stesso.

Ovviamente sono estremamente deluso di non essere in gara in Argentina, ma questo fa parte dello sport e ora il mio obiettivo è rimettermi in forma e tornare a guidare il prima possibile. Finora il mio recupero sta andando bene, sto migliorando ogni giorno e sto decisamente andando nella giusta direzione. È ancora troppo presto per dare una data precisa di ritorno, ma spero di vedere presto tutti alle gare. Mi è sempre piaciuto andare a Villa La Angostura e vedere le persone lì. È una bellissima parte del mondo e i fan sono molto appassionati e ti fanno sentire molto accogliente. Voglio augurare a Ruben buona fortuna per questo fine settimana e spero che faccia una buona prestazione per il Team HRC.

È fantastico iniziare finalmente la stagione. Sfortunatamente siamo senza Tim, il che è un vero peccato perché si è sentito così bene durante l’inverno, quindi vorrei augurargli il meglio per la sua guarigione, da parte mia e da parte di tutti nel Team HRC, in modo che possa unirsi a noi presto. Tuttavia, siamo molto contenti di come si è comportato Ruben sulla moto e speriamo che possa dimostrarlo a tutti in Argentina. È un luogo fantastico e il luogo perfetto per iniziare la stagione 2023 e non vediamo l’ora che cada il primo cancello.

Argentina-Patagonia welcomes Team HRC for MXGP Opener
The 2023 MXGP World Championship starts this weekend in Villa La Angostura, Argentina, with Ruben Fernandez heading Team HRC’s effort for this opening round. Unfortunately 2022 world champion and winningest rider of this event, Tim Gajser won’t be on the plane to South America as he recovers from a broken femur sustained at the Italian International Championship in Arco di Trento on February 19th.
Set in one of the most stunning locations around the world, the track weaves in and out of the forest, in the shadow of the Andes mountain range and provides a high-speed challenge that both the riders and fans enjoy.
With Gajser on the sidelines, it will down to Fernandez to lead the way on his Honda CRF450R, as the Spaniard makes his full-MXGP debut for Team HRC. Last year he put in an excellent performance here, making a pass in the last few corners to get a third place in moto two, and that was after leading part of moto one. And it was that kind of effort that caught the eye, eventually giving him his chance to ride for the factory team this year.
After a successful pre-season, which saw Fernandez win last time out at the Spanish Championship, the #70 will be looking to start off the championship strongly with this venue providing the perfect opportunity to do so, as plenty of Spanish-speaking fans will be cheering loudly for him all the race around this amazing race track.

I am extremely excited about this weekend, and riding down in Argentina. It is a fun track, and with everyone speaking Spanish, it is easy for me to interact with all the fans. Of course, I am hoping to do well, and I believe I have the chance to do so. Last year I got a third place in a moto, and I led a race for a little bit too, so I want to repeat that and try to do even better if possible. It will be tough as there are a lot of fast riders in the MXGP class but that is the aim and that is what I expect from myself.

Obviously I am extremely disappointed not to be out in Argentina racing, but this is part of the sport and now my focus is to get fit again and get back to riding as soon as possible. So far, my recovery is going well, I am improving every day and I am definitely heading in the right direction. It is still too early to give an exact return date but I hope to see everyone at the races soon. I always enjoyed going to Villa La Angostura and seeing the people there. It is a beautiful part of the world, and the fans are very passionate and make you feel very welcoming. I want to wish Ruben the best of luck this weekend and I hope that he puts on a strong performance for Team HRC.

It is great to finally get the season started. Unfortunately we are without Tim, which is a big shame because he was feeling so good over the winter, so I’d like to wish him the best with his recovery, from me and from everyone at Team HRC, so that he can join us again soon. However, we are very pleased with how Ruben has been doing on the bike, and we hope he can show that to everyone in Argentina. It is a great venue, and the perfect place to start the 2023 season and we can’t wait for that first gate drop.
