INT MX ’23 START TIME #4 – Attenti al Lupo
Start Time #4 – Fresco della consegna del casco d’oro di Motosprint per la conquista del Gran Premio delle Nazioni del 2021, ritirato martedì sera a Rimini insieme agli amici Antonio Cairoli e Mattia Guadagnini, Alessandro Lupino con la sua Beta Motors, insieme al suo compagno Ben Watson, sarà uno dei protagonisti “Factory” degli Internazionali d’Italia MX EICMA Series e della stagione 2023 della MXGP. Abbiamo fatto una chiacchierata con lui per spere come stanno andando le cose in vista delle prime gare stagionali.
“Ciao Alessandro, complimenti per il casco d’oro di Motosprint, come sta andando la tua preparazione?”
“Grazie! La preparazione sta andando molto bene, abbiamo messo a punto la moto e sono due, tre mesi che sto facendo un bel lavoro. Adesso mi sento bene con in sella, fin qui abbiamo fatto tutti i passi nella direzione giusta: palestra, moto e allenamenti in Sardegna; insomma tutto sta andando come abbiamo pianificato e sulla moto mi sento al 70%.”
“L’anno scorso è stata una stagione davvero difficile, come ti trovi ora con il tuo nuovo compagno?”
“L’anno scorso è stata la peggior stagione della mia vita, anche perché venivo dalla mia migliore; sono stato sempre male, ho lottato con i postumi dell’appendicite e ho fatto davvero sempre molta fatica. Ora però mi sono messo a posto, quest’anno abbiamo un team ufficiale, sempre con Beta Motors ma in una squadra diversa. Con Ben (Watson ndr) stiamo facendo un bel lavoro perché è un ottimo compagno di squadra col quale ci spingiamo a vicenda. Ci alleniamo insieme e penso che questa sarà la chiave per migliorare il passo, perché se hai un buon riferimento in squadra, sulla tua stessa moto, puoi crescere di più.”
“Hai citato il tuo nuovo team, una vecchia conoscenza per te…”
“Si, con Marchetti ho vissuto la mia miglior stagione nel 2021, il loro è un team familiare che però per i piloti da il 100% ed è molto professionale. Non a caso con loro ho ottenuto i miei migliori risultati, perché mi hanno dato tutto e io li ho ricambiati nello stesso modo. Lo stanno facendo anche adesso, sia con me che con Ben e ci supportano in tutto, dandoci quello di cui abbiamo bisogno per ottenere buoni risultati.”
“Gli Internazionali d’Italia sono alle porte, quest’anno si andrà a Ponte a Egola e ad Arco di Trento, due piste che fanno per te, cosa ne pensi?”
“Fare due gare sul duro per me è ottimo, anche perché fino ad ora ci siamo preparati molto sulla sabbia e in questo modo abbiamo modo di rifinire anche la nostra preparazione sui terreni duri. Forse siamo un po’ più a rischio col meteo ma sono sicuro che correre su questi due tracciati richiamerà anche più pubblico degli ultimi anni, perché sull’isola era più difficile raggiungerci e c’erano meno piloti di quelli che si sono iscritti quest’anno. Gli Internazionali d’Italia sono importanti per verificare alcune cose sulla moto, per finalizzare la preparazione e per confrontarsi con gli altri e capire il proprio livello, anche se ci sono sempre piloti che danno il 100% e altri che magari si tengono un po’ nascosti. Ad ogni modo in vista del mondiale è una gara da fare che regala un grande spettacolo al pubblico che se non può venire in pista ci può comunque seguire in diretta streaming da ovunque nel mondo.”

Start Time #4 – With the Casco d’oro of Motosprint to celebrate the 2021 Grand Prix of the Nations victory, collected on Tuesday evening in Rimini together with his friends Antonio Cairoli and Mattia Guadagnini, Alessandro Lupino with his Beta Motors, together with his team mate Ben Watson, will be one of the “Factory” riders of the Internazionali d’Italia MX EICMA Series and of the 2023 MXGP season. We had a chat with him to hear from him how things are going ahead of the first race of the season.
“Hi Alessandro, congratulations for the Motosprint Casco d’oro, how is your off season going?”
“Thank you! My off season is going very well, we’ve fine-tuned the bike and I’ve been doing a good job for two, let’s say three months. Now I feel good on the bike, so far we have taken all the steps in the right direction: gym, motorbike and training in Sardinia. So basically, everything is going as we planned and I feel at 70% on the bike.”
“Last year was a really difficult season, how are you now with your new team?”
“Last year was the worst season of my life, also because I was coming from my best so far. I was always sick, I struggled with my appendicitis and I really always struggled. But now I’ve sorted myself out, this year we have a new factory team, still with Beta Motors but in a different team. With Ben (Watson ed) we are doing a good job because he is an excellent teammate with whom we push each other. We train together and I think this will be the key to improving our pace, because if you have a good reference in the team, on the same bike, you can grow more.”
“You mentioned your new team, something familiar to you…”
“Yes, with Marchetti I had my best season in 2021, they are like a family team which, however, gives 100% to the riders and they are very professional. It is no coincidence that I obtained my best results with them, because they gave me everything and I gave them back in the same way. They are doing it even now, both with me and Ben and they support us with everything, giving us what we need to get good results.”
“The Internazionali d’Italia MX are upon us, this year we will go to Ponte a Egola and Arco di Trento, two tracks that are good for you, what do you think?”
“Having two races on hard pack is excellent for me, also because up until now we have trained a lot on sand and in this way we can also refine our skills on hard surfaces. Perhaps we are a little more at risk with the weather but I’m sure that racing on these two tracks will attract even more spectators than in recent years, because it was more difficult to reach us on the island and there were fewer riders less than those who entered this year. The Internazionali d’Italia MX are important to verify certain things on the bike, to finalize the preparation and to compare yourself with the other riders and understand your own level, even if there are always riders who give 100% and others who perhaps that are more cautious. In any case, ahead of the world championship, it is a race to do that offers a great show to the public who, if they cannot come to the track, can still follow us in live streaming from anywhere in the world, this year also in English with the commentary of Paul Malin.”
