Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP domina in Svezia
Ringiovanito dopo una piccola pausa nel programma, il trio Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP ha iniziato una serie di gare di tre settimane piuttosto impegnativa in Svezia. Il quindicesimo appuntamento della stagione in corso, disputato sullo storico circuito di Uddevalla, è stato incredibile per la squadra ‘azzurra’. In effetti, potrebbe essere considerata la gara più memorabile dell’anno.
Dimostrando quanto sia buona la YZ450FM, i piloti Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing hanno occupato i primi tre posti al primo giro della prima manche. Maxime Renaux guidava, con Jeremy Seewer e Glenn Coldenhoff al seguito. Fu quell’ordine in cui alla fine finirono; un secondo ha separato Renaux e Seewer quando è stato raggiunto il traguardo. Una prima manche così incredibile ha ovviamente preparato il trio per un maggiore successo nella manche finale.
È stato Seewer a essere all’altezza dell’occasione in quel secondo periodo, poiché ha preso l’holeshot a bordo del suo destriero “blu” e semplicemente non si è voltato indietro da quel momento in poi. Il ’91’ ha portato ogni singolo giro di quella seconda manche a conquistare l’ennesima vittoria in un Gran Premio, qualcosa con cui sta diventando molto familiare, e stringere la presa sul secondo posto nella classifica del campionato.
Glenn Coldenhoff non è mai stato troppo indietro rispetto al suo compagno di squadra nella seconda manche: si è nascosto tra i primi cinque e ha spinto per il quarto posto nelle ultime fasi. Anche se alla fine non è riuscito ad avanzare oltre il quinto, è stato più che sufficiente per portare “259” sul podio assoluto per la seconda settimana consecutiva. Il terzo gradino del podio era dove si trovava lui.
Sfortunatamente il vincitore della prima manche, Maxime Renaux, è caduto nell’ultima manche al primo giro e non è riuscito a continuare. Nonostante quell’incidente, è stato comunque classificato all’ottavo posto assoluto al Gran Premio di Svezia. Renaux tornerà in pista al prossimo round di competizione.
Il camion Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rimarrà ora nel Nord Europa, poiché il Gran Premio di Finlandia è il prossimo programma all’ordine del giorno. Hyvinkää ospiterà per la prima volta dal 2014 una tappa del Campionato mondiale di motocross FIM.
Jeremy Seewer: “Ho fatto due buone partenze oggi, e questo è davvero importante. Fare un holeshot nella seconda gara rende tutto più facile, soprattutto su questa pista, perché i sorpassi sono super difficili. Ho vinto il GP, quindi è stato un weekend fantastico. Ora mancano tre round, quindi voglio solo andare avanti e raccogliere il maggior numero possibile di trofei per il primo posto”.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “Oggi abbiamo apportato alcune modifiche e ha sicuramente funzionato, quindi sono solo grato al team. Abbiamo avuto un traguardo da sogno per la Yamaha con noi tre primi, secondi e terzi… Anche se l’ordine che abbiamo finito è stato diverso. Eppure dice qualcosa. Sono felice di essere di nuovo qui sul podio. È sempre bello essere qui”.
Maxime Renaux: “È davvero frustrante. Ho avuto un inizio di giornata perfetto con una partenza al top e una vittoria in gara dopo aver condotto l’intera gara, ma mi sono riunito con un altro pilota e sono caduto nella seconda manche. Alcuni piloti mi sono passati sopra, quindi ero un po’ ammaccato. Ho provato a continuare, ma non riuscivo a tenere il manubrio e mi sono dovuto fermare. È deludente, ma per fortuna nessun infortunio e sarò pronto per tornare in Finlandia”.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP dominate in Sweden
Rejuvenated after a small break in the schedule, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP trio started a rather busy three-week run of races in Sweden. The fifteenth event of the current season, run at the historic circuit of Uddevalla, was incredible for the ‘blue’ team. In fact, it may go down as the most memorable race of the year.
Proving just how good the YZ450FM is, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing riders occupied the top three spots on lap one of moto one. Maxime Renaux led, with Jeremy Seewer and Glenn Coldenhoff in tow. It was that order that they eventually finished in; one second separated Renaux and Seewer when the finish was reached. Such an incredible first moto obviously set the trio up for more success in the final moto.
It was Seewer who rose to the occasion in that second stint, as he took the holeshot aboard his ‘blue’ steed and simply did not look back from that point on. ’91’ led every single lap of that second moto to clinch yet another Grand Prix victory, something that he’s becoming very familiar with, and tighten his grip on second in the championship standings.
Glenn Coldenhoff was never too far behind his teammate in the second moto – he lurked inside of the top five and made a push for fourth in the latter stages. Although he could not advance higher than fifth in the end, that was more than enough to put ‘259’ on the overall podium for the second week in succession. The third step of the podium was where he stood.
Unfortunately the victor of the first moto, Maxime Renaux, crashed out of the final moto on the first lap and was unable to continue. Despite that crash, he was still classified in eighth overall at the Grand Prix of Sweden. Renaux will be back on track at the next round of competition.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP truck will remain in Northern Europe now, as the Grand Prix of Finland is next on the agenda. Hyvinkää will host a stop of the FIM Motocross World Championship for the first time since 2014.

Jeremy Seewer: “I had two good starts today, and that is really important. Taking a holeshot in the second race makes it easier, especially on this track, because passing is super difficult. I won the GP, so it was an amazing weekend. There are three rounds to go now, so I just want to keep going and collect as many first-place trophies as possible.”
Glenn Coldenhoff: “We made some changes today and it definitely worked out, so I am just grateful to the team. We had a dream finish for Yamaha with the three of us going first, second and third… Although I wish the order that we finished was different. Still, it says something. I am happy to be here on the podium again. It’s always good to be here.”
Maxime Renaux: “It’s really frustrating. I had the perfect start to the day with a top start and a race win after leading the whole race, but I came together with another rider and crashed in the second moto. Some riders rode over me, so I was a little bit bruised. I tried to continue, but I could not hold the handlebars and I had to stop. It’s disappointing, but luckily no injuries and I will be ready to return in Finland.”
