MARVIN MUSQUIN, KTM ACCETTA IL CONTRATTO 2023

Un pezzo del puzzle per la prossima stagione è andato a posto ora che la Red Bull KTM ha rinnovato un accordo con Marvin Musquin per tornare a Monster Energy AMA Supercross con un accordo per il 2023. Marvin aveva anche un accordo di un anno per il supercross 2022, quindi il suo contratto per le corse è tecnicamente scaduto a maggio. Sulla base della forza della sua stagione, quarto nel campionato 450SX e uno dei soli piloti orange ad aver vinto una gara, il francese tornerà al suo marchio e al suo team familiari per un’altra stagione di supercross nel 2023.

L’accordo è stato annunciato ieri sera al Rev Dealer Summit del KTM Group, tenutosi presso la NASCAR Hall of Fame a Charlotte, nella Carolina del Nord.

“Sì, dovevamo solo renderlo ufficiale ad un certo punto. Quest’anno è stato positivo, ci sono stati molti cambiamenti, rimanere in California e lavorare con DV [David Vuillemin], quindi sì, voglio solo avere lo stesso programma e andare avanti e continuare a rappresentare il marchio “, ha affermato Musquin.

Marvin è stato avvistato quest’estate in California in sella a una varietà di moto, da due tempi a quattro, persino su Husqvarnas, che hanno suscitato voci. Non c’era molto da fare, però.

“Fondamentalmente mi stavo solo divertendo”, ha spiegato. “Ho detto al mio meccanico Frankie [Latham] che volevo fare un po’ di guida, solo per divertimento. Quindi ha detto che sarebbe andato a chiedere ai ragazzi di R&D [test di produzione] se potevo venire. Hanno detto di sì. Quindi ho guidato alcune moto stock, e li abbiamo aiutati con un po’ di ricerca e sviluppo. Quindi un giorno hanno detto che volevano che guidassi una 450, ma hanno detto che tutto ciò che avevano era una Husqvarna. Quindi ho detto: “Sì, va bene, è ancora un marchio austriaco, ma È solo che non voglio l’altro logo di bevanda energetica lì. Non voglio finire nei guai. Sono un ragazzo della Red Bull.’ Quindi sì, ho guidato quell’Husky, ma era solo per divertimento.

La formazione della Red Bull KTM per il supercross è ora impostata. A giugno, Cooper Webb ha firmato un’estensione del contratto con il team che lo vedrà su una Red Bull KTM 450 SX-F per tutta la stagione di supercross 2023 (con un’opzione per correre Pro Motocross disponibile. Webb ci ha detto ieri sera che, sebbene lo abbia fatto salta Lucas Oil Pro Motocross quest’estate, è ancora interessato a correre all’aperto l’anno prossimo). Aaron Plessinger è entrato a far parte della squadra nell’ottobre 2021 e ha un contratto biennale (2022 e 2023).

Ovviamente questo porta alla domanda su Ryan Dungey, che quest’estate è uscito dalla pensione per correre per la sua vecchia squadra. Si ritirerà di nuovo al termine di questa stagione? Dungey ci ha detto dopo lo Spring Creek National che ha alcune opzioni sul tavolo per il 2023. Vedremo!

RED BULL KTM WELCOMES MARVIN MUSQUIN BACK FOR A 12TH SEASON TOGETHER IN 2023

MURRIETA, Calif. – The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team is proud to welcome Marvin Musquin back for his 12th season with the U.S. team, where he’s set to line up for the 2023 AMA Supercross Championship aboard the #25 KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION.
 
Musquin’s one-year contract extension has the French rider competing exclusively in the AMA Supercross Championship for 2023, where he looks to build upon his positive performance in 2022. Finishing fourth overall in the 450SX Championship, Musquin scored six podium finishes and one Triple Crown victory during the season, and the 32-year-old is hungry for more as the stadium gate drops in just six months’ time. 
 
Marvin Musquin: “I’m very excited, this is exactly what I was looking for in the new season – to be part of the Red Bull KTM team – where I have been for 12 years here in America and 14 years total with KTM. It’s very special for me to still be around Frankie and the whole team, and to be based in California like I did for the 2022 season. I’m looking forward to improving the new bike even more and learning even more with more time coming up. I know that the whole team is motivated to keep on trying, never give up, and to get the KTM back on the top spot.”

After winning the 250SX title in 2015, Marvin moved to the 450 class in 2016 and he has been extremely competitive throughout the years. This 2022 SX race season was no different and the Red Bull KTM team is confident he will carry the 2022 momentum into the 2023 race season.”
