Gajser mantiene un vantaggio di 125 punti dopo il round 13 in Repubblica Ceca
Tim Gajser del Team HRC lascia Loket con i suoi enormi punti in vantaggio come quando è entrato nella Repubblica Ceca, è con un vantaggio di cinque manche sui suoi rivali più vicini. Lo sloveno è andato due-tre per il terzo posto assoluto ed è ancora 125 punti di vantaggio con la stagione ora completata di oltre due terzi. Il compagno di squadra Mitch Evans ha continuato la sua forma forte, con due piazzamenti appena fuori dai primi cinque per dargli il settimo posto assoluto mentre si avvicina alla top 10 del campionato.
In condizioni calde, soleggiate e asciutte, la pista di Loket era la più accidentata e dura, causando problemi ai piloti mentre cercavano di tenere sotto controllo le loro moto 450 cc. Per Gajser, è stato in grado di fare solide partenze in entrambe le gare a bordo della sua Honda CRF450R ed era tra i primi tre in entrambe le manche al primo giro. Nella prima gara, con sorpassi ancora una volta difficili, era secondo nelle prime fasi, prima di risalire al terzo posto per alcuni giri. Man mano che la pista diventava più difficile, ha fatto ancora una volta una spinta e si è spostato al secondo posto, puntando gli occhi sul leader. Sfortunatamente, non è mai stato davvero in grado di segnare i tempi che voleva e ha dovuto tagliare il traguardo al secondo posto. Una vittoria in gara due gli avrebbe comunque dato la classifica generale, ma non si è mai sentito davvero a suo agio nel guidare il ritmo dei leader e invece si è accontentato del terzo posto, sapendo che un altro round era stato completato ed era ancora al comando di questo Mondiale MXGP 2022.
Dopo la sua migliore prestazione stagionale in Indonesia, Evans è arrivato cercando di continuare la sua buona forma e continuare a spingere verso le posizioni del podio. Dopo un secondo nelle prove cronometrate, le cose andavano sicuramente in quella direzione e un sesto in gara uno gli ha dato un’altra opportunità per ottenere il suo miglior conteggio dei punti della stagione. Un ottimo primo giro ha portato l’australiano in quinta posizione e, nonostante la pressione da dietro, ha mantenuto il suo ritmo e sembrava sulla buona strada per eguagliare i risultati del round precedente. Sfortunatamente, verso la fine della gara, la pista dura e sconnessa gli ha messo a dura prova le mani e le vesciche gli hanno fatto perdere un paio di posizioni. Il settimo è stato comunque un ottimo risultato e ci sono stati molti aspetti positivi da portare via dalle sue prime manche presso la struttura ceca, e non vedrà l’ora di vivere un’altra nuova esperienza quando affronterà le profonde sabbie di Lommel il prossimo fine settimana.
In quello che sarà il 14° round di questo campionato, i piloti si recheranno subito in Belgio per prepararsi a quello che è noto come il test più duro del motocross. Gajser ha vinto lì in un paio di occasioni in precedenza e cercherà di nuovo il gradino più alto il prossimo fine settimana, mentre Evans spera che tutto il lavoro che ha fatto in questa stagione venga ripagato e può mantenere lo slancio che lo ha visto sfidare i primi cinque. Anche se l’ondata di caldo che colpirà il nord Europa dovrebbe essere finita, si prevede comunque bel tempo per quando i piloti scenderanno in pista il 23-24 luglio.

Oggi è stata una giornata difficile in pista. Non mi sono mai sentito davvero a mio agio e non potevo spingere come avrei voluto, quindi non sono riuscito a colmare quel divario sui piloti davanti. È stato comunque bello salire sul podio, e rimango ancora 125 punti di vantaggio in campionato, quindi sotto questo aspetto sono felice, ma volevo esibirmi un po’ meglio per tutti i tifosi che sono venuti a sostenermi. È stato fantastico vederli e ascoltarli in giro per la pista e apprezzo tutti loro per aver fatto il viaggio per venire a vedermi guidare.

Nel complesso sono contento di come sono andate le gare, andando sei-sette per il settimo posto assoluto. Anche se i risultati non sono stati così buoni come quelli in Indonesia, ho sentito di essere in grado di mantenere il ritmo dei migliori e, a parte la fine della seconda manche, quando avevo problemi a delle brutte vesciche, mi sentivo come se stessi facendo un buon lavoro per abbinare la loro velocità. Sono stato quinto per la maggior parte della seconda manche e se fossi rimasto lì, sarei stato quinto in assoluto, quindi è tutto positivo. Ora devo lasciare che le mie mani guariscano un po’ prima di dirigermi verso Lommel e fare i miei primi giri in assoluto su quella pista il prossimo fine settimana.

Nonostante non si sia esibito al livello più alto che si è prefissato, Tim è comunque riuscito a raggiungere il terzo posto e mantenere la sua leadership in campionato. Ha mostrato una vera maturità per non spingere troppo quando non lo sente ed è per questo che è un così bravo pilota di campionato. Siamo tutti molto orgogliosi di lui e siamo sicuri che sarà in lotta per la vittoria il prossimo fine settimana. Per Mitch, sta anche dimostrando di essere proprio lì con i migliori ragazzi, combattendo con loro per tutte le manche ed è fantastico vedere due Honda in testa al campo. Lommel la prossima settimana sarà una sfida completamente diversa, ma siamo sicuri che i ragazzi si adatteranno e usciranno oscillanti. Un grande ringraziamento per tutto il lavoro che il nostro team ha svolto dall’Indonesia, tutti continuano a mantenere uno standard davvero elevato ed è bello vederli continuare a lavorare così bene insieme.

Gajser maintains 125-point lead after round 13 in the Czech Republic
Team HRC’s Tim Gajser leaves Loket with his massive points lead the same as when he entered the Czech Republic, with a five-moto advantage over his nearest rivals. The Slovenian went two-three for third overall and is still 125-points clear with the season now over two-thirds completed. Teammate Mitch Evans continued his strong form, with two finishes just outside the top five to give him seventh overall as he closes in on the championship top 10.
In hot, sunny and dry conditions, the Loket track was at its roughest and toughest, causing riders problems as they tried to keep their 450cc machines under control. For Gajser, he was able to make solid starts in both races onboard his Honda CRF450R and was inside the top three in both motos on lap one. In the first race, with passing once again difficult, he was in second early-on, before dropping back to third for a few laps. As the track got harder, he made a push once again and moved into second place, setting his sights on the leader. Unfortunately, he was never really able to put in the laptimes that he wanted and had to cross the line in second place. A victory in race two would have still given him the overall, but he never really felt comfortable to ride the pace of the leaders and instead settled for third, knowing that another round had been completed and he was still in command of this 2022 MXGP World Championship.
After his season-best performance in Indonesia, Evans came in looking to continue his good form and keep pushing towards the podium positions. After a second in timed practice, things were certainly trending in that direction and a sixth in race one gave him another opportunity to get his best points tally of the season. A great first lap put the Australian in fifth position, and despite pressure from behind, he maintained his pace and looked well on course to match those results from the previous round. Unfortunately, near the end of the race, the hard, bumpy track took its toll on his hands and blisters caused him to drop a couple of places. Seventh was still a great result and there were a lot of positives to take away from his first motos at the Czech facility, and he’ll be looking forward to another new experience when he takes on the deep sands of Lommel next weekend.
In what will be the 14th round of this championship, the riders will head to Belgium straight away to prepare themselves for what is known as the toughest test in motocross. Gajser has won there on a couple of occasions before and he’ll be looking for the top step again next weekend, while Evans will be hoping that all the work he’s done this season will pay-off, and he can keep up the momentum that has seen him challenging the top five. While the heatwave that will hit northern Europe should be over, it is still expected to be good weather for when the riders hit the track on July 23-24.

It was a tough day out on the track today. I never really felt comfortable and couldn’t push like I wanted to, and so I couldn’t close that gap on the riders in front. It was still good to get on the podium, and I still remain 125 points ahead in the championship, so in that respect I am happy, but I wanted to perform a little bit better for all the fans that came to support me. It was great to see and hear them all around the track and I appreciate everyone of them for making the journey to come and see me ride.

Overall I am happy with how the races went, going six-seven for seventh overall. Whilst the results weren’t quite as good as my results in Indonesia, I felt that I was able to keep the pace of the top guys and other than the end of the second moto when I had really bad blisters, I felt like I was doing a good job of matching their speed. I was in fifth for the majority of that second moto and if I would have stayed there, I would have been fifth overall so it is all positive. Now I have to let my hands heal a bit before heading to Lommel and doing my first ever laps on that track this coming weekend.

Despite not performing at the highest level that he has set himself, Tim still was able to come in third and maintain his championship lead. He has shown real maturity not to push too hard when he’s not feeling it and that’s why he is such a good championship rider. We are all very proud of him though and are sure he’ll be challenging for victory next weekend. For Mitch, he is also showing that he is right there with the top guys, battling with them for the entire motos and that is great to see two Honda’s at the front of the field. Lommel next week will be a completely different challenge but we are sure that the guys will adapt and come out swinging. A big thank you to all the work that our team have gone through since Indonesia, they all continue to maintain a really high standard and it is great to see them keep working so well together.
