David Luongo reveals solutions about GP’s

Metà della stagione è ormai alle spalle. Dopo Spagna, Francia e Germania, tre eventi con il maggior numero di spettatori della stagione, abbiamo visto tre diversi vincitori assoluti nella categoria MXGP con Maxime Renaux in Spagna, Jeremy Seewer in Francia e Tim Gajser in Germania. TG243 sta aumentando il suo divario con Seewer mentre ci stiamo dirigendo verso l’Indonesia-Sumbawa (Articolo redatto prima del GP in Indonesia n.d.r.), per il ritorno dell’MXGP in questo bellissimo paese dopo due anni di restrizioni COVID-19. Nella MX2 avremo una forte battaglia tra Jago Geerts e Tom Vialle, che quest’anno sembrano essere su un altro livello.
Molte cose sono state dette nelle ultime due settimane dopo quello che è successo durante il Gran Premio di Francia. La comunicazione è sempre molto importante, quindi nei giorni successivi in Germania ci siamo incontrati con i costruttori, i team e i piloti, abbiamo potuto affrontare molti argomenti e abbiamo avuto l’opportunità di parlare con mente aperta di MXGP. Abbiamo convenuto che ad ogni Gran Premio, a partire dalla Germania, ci sarebbe stato un pilota per ogni classe in qualità di rappresentante di MXGP e MX2 per scambiare il proprio feedback con i funzionari IMR e FIM durante il weekend del Gran Premio.
È importante ricordare ancora una volta che Infront Moto Racing è il promotore del Campionato del Mondo MXGP e che durante gli ultimi 2 anni di pandemia, il nostro unico sforzo, nonostante ci troviamo in una situazione finanziaria molto difficile, è stato quello di organizzare un evento decente e campionato completo. Siamo riusciti a consegnare 18 gare nel 2020 e 19 nel 2021 per consentire ai piloti prima, ma anche ai meccanici, ai media e ai partner di poter mantenere il loro lavoro e continuare a seguire questo sport. Gli ultimi due anni sono stati terribili, ma lo sport ha continuato ad andare avanti e nel 2021 abbiamo assistito a una delle stagioni più emozionanti di sempre.
Ora che il mondo si sta riaprendo e che possiamo ospitare nuovamente il pubblico, dobbiamo pensare anche agli organizzatori. Senza di loro non sarebbe un campionato, senza i tifosi che vengono agli eventi, il motocross sarebbe ancora uno sport amatoriale e senza il Gran Premio d’Oltremare sarebbe un campionato europeo. È vero che stiamo vivendo un momento molto difficile. I costi dei trasporti, dei voli e del carburante sono alle stelle, ma dobbiamo trovare soluzioni per continuare ad andare avanti e migliorare, come abbiamo fatto in passato durante il Covid-19, uno dei periodi peggiori per il nostro sport.
(Articolo redatto prima del GP in Indonesia n.d.r.) Ora stiamo ultimando i preparativi a Sumbawa per offrire il miglior Gran Premio mai eseguito in Indonesia. L’MXGP sta crescendo molto velocemente in Indonesia e la passione e gli investimenti delle autorità locali per costruire la pista e le strutture stanno già dimostrando che l’evento avrà un grande successo. La pista si è rivelata una delle migliori della stagione, con molto dislivello.

Dear MXGP Friends,
Half of the season is now behind us. After Spain, France and Germany, three events with the biggest crowd attendance of the season, we saw three different overall winners in the MXGP category with Maxime Renaux in Spain, Jeremy Seewer in France and Tim Gajser in Germany. TG243 is increasing his gap with Seewer as we are heading to Indonesia-Sumbawa, for the comeback of the MXGP in this beautiful country after two years of COVID-19 restrictions. In MX2, we are going to have a strong battle between Jago Geerts and Tom Vialle, who seem to be on another level this year.
A lot of things have been said the last couple of weeks after what happened during the French Grand Prix. Communication is always very important, so during the following days in Germany, we met with the manufacturers, the teams and the riders, and we were able to tackle many subjects and we had the opportunity to talk with open mind about MXGP. We agreed that at each Grand Prix, starting from Germany, there would be one rider from each class acting as the representative of MXGP and MX2 in order to exchange their feedback with IMR and FIM officials during the Grand Prix weekend.
It is important to mention again that Infront Moto Racing is the promotor of the MXGP World Championship and that during the last 2 years of pandemic, our only effort, despite the fact to be in a very difficult financial situation, was to organize a decent and complete championship. We managed to deliver 18 races in 2020 and 19 in 2021 to allow riders first, but also mechanics, media and partners to be able to maintain their work and continue to follow this sport. The last two years have been terrible, but the sport continued to go on and in 2021 we witnessed one of the most exciting seasons ever.
Now that the world is opening again and that we are able to host public again, we also have to think about the organizers. Without them, it would not be a championship, without the fans coming to events, motocross would still be an amateur sport, and without the Overseas Grand Prix, it would be a European Championship. It is true that we are living a very difficult moment. The cost of transportation, flights and fuel are hitting the sky, but we need to find solutions to continue to go on and improve, as we did in the past during the Covid-19, one of the worst times for our sport.
Now we are finalizing the preparations in Sumbawa to offer the best Grand Prix ever performed in Indonesia. MXGP is growing very fast in Indonesia and the passion and investments of the local authorities to build the track and the facilities is already showing the event will have a great success. The track turned to be one of the best of the season, with a lot of elevation.
