SX GLOBAL ANNUNCIA QUATTRO DELLE DIECI ESCLUSIVE SQUADRE SELEZIONATE PER COMPETERE NEL CAMPIONATO MONDIALE FIM SUPERCROSS NEL 2022
MotoConcepts Honda, Pipes Motorsports Group, Bud Racing Kawasaki e GSM Yamaha sottoscrivono accordi di squadra per il 2022
Australia (25 maggio 2022) – SX Global, la società australiana che guida il FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), ha annunciato oggi quattro delle 10 licenze esclusive per team che rilascerà per il suo campionato mondiale inaugurale. Questi team indipendenti sono stati selezionati per la loro significativa esperienza ai massimi livelli di supercross e motocross professionistici e per la loro capacità di offrire forti offerte competitive in 450 e 250. La partecipazione dei produttori alla serie è forte con un massimo di sei rappresentati nel Campionato del mondo FIM. I quattro team includono MotoConcepts Honda e Pipes Motorsports Group, con sede negli Stati Uniti, insieme ai francesi Bud Racing Kawasaki e GSM Yamaha.
Un modello senza precedenti nel supercross ma utilizzato dalla maggior parte delle leghe sportive e delle serie di sport motoristici fiorenti in tutto il mondo, WSX presenta un’esclusiva struttura di proprietà del team che consente a ciascuna squadra di aumentare il proprio valore nel tempo, consentendo anche una serie di opportunità commerciali a livello globale e livelli regionali per eventi internazionali e locali. Questo modello unico, combinato con l’allocazione di 50 milioni di dollari di SX Global specificatamente per il supporto di team e piloti nei primi cinque anni del campionato, ha suscitato un diffuso interesse per l’ambita assegnazione di 10 squadre, come evidenziato da oltre 40 domande di proprietà presentate da corteggiatori in tutto il globo.
Nelle prossime settimane verranno annunciate tutte e dieci le squadre. I primi quattro e i capi squadra sono suddivisi in modo più dettagliato di seguito:
- MotoConcepts Honda – Mike Genova: Al timone del team MotoConcepts Honda c’è un uomo d’affari di successo, Mike Genova, che dirige uno dei top team che partecipano al campionato AMA Supercross negli Stati Uniti. Con prestazioni regolari nella serie, Genova è un pilastro nel mondo del supercross e attualmente lavora con piloti di talento, tra cui Vince Friese e Justin Brayton.
- Pipes Motorsports Group – Dustin Pipes: guidato da Dustin Pipes, che vanta un ampio background nelle competizioni AMA Supercross e Motocross sia come atleta che come team manager con Twisted Tea/HEP Motorsports, il Pipes Motorsports Group è supportato dalla potenza di Suzuki Motor Company in Giappone e l’ambizione di portare le corse di supercross su un palcoscenico veramente globale.
- Bud Racing Kawasaki – Stéphane Dassé: Bud Racing Kawasaki è una delle squadre più fedeli nel paddock del GP (dal 2007), presente nel Campionato Mondiale e nell’Europeo, con alcuni dei piloti sportivi più promettenti. In qualità di team principal, Dassé ha accumulato una lunga lista di riconoscimenti, giocando un ruolo chiave nello sviluppo di alcuni dei piloti di maggior successo del gioco, tra cui Marvin Musquin, Gautier Paulin e Dylan Ferrandis.
- GSM Yamaha – Serge Guidetty: Supportato da Yamaha France, il team di Guidetty è uno dei due team di corse francesi che partecipano al Campionato mondiale di Supercross FIM. Lui stesso un importante pilota di supercross e motocross, Guidetty e il team GSM Yamaha sono gli attuali campioni francesi di Supercross.
“Tutte e quattro queste squadre portano un livello di esperienza, credibilità ed eccellenza operativa e competitiva, necessarie per offrire i più alti livelli di competizione ai fan di tutto il mondo; e non potremmo essere più entusiasti di assegnare loro le licenze”, ha affermato Adam Bailey, amministratore delegato – Motorsport di SX Global. “Mentre intraprendiamo la nostra stagione inaugurale, è fondamentale che ciascuna delle nostre squadre porti uno spirito di collaborazione nel più ampio sforzo di portare avanti il nostro sport ed espandere la sua rilevanza in tutto il mondo, ed è esattamente il caso di ciascuna di queste squadre e proprietari.”

Questo annuncio del team è solo uno dei tanti sforzi di sviluppo in corso che continueranno a elevare e consolidare il campionato mondiale di supercross FIM. Il campionato sarà caratterizzato da una struttura altamente esclusiva, con un livello senza precedenti di supporto finanziario per le squadre, incluso il finanziamento iniziale per ogni squadra a cui è stata assegnata una licenza, quote di presenza a ogni round e supporto logistico e di trasporto. In totale, più di 50 milioni di dollari sono stati destinati specificamente al supporto di team e piloti in soli cinque anni. La serie globale presenterà le più ricche borse dei campionati nella storia di questo sport, con un totale di $250.000 in palio ad ogni round.
Il FIM World Supercross Championship si svolgerà ogni anno nella seconda metà dell’anno, inclusi fino a quattro eventi nel 2022, da fine settembre a novembre. Il 2022 fungerà da stagione “pilota”, consentendo al campionato di affermarsi e dare slancio al 2023. Dal 2023, e dagli anni successivi, il Campionato Mondiale FIM Supercross si espanderà ogni anno tra giugno e novembre, con un massimo di dodici eventi nel 2023.

SX GLOBAL ANNOUNCES FOUR OF TEN EXCLUSIVE RACE TEAMS SELECTED TO COMPETE IN THE FIM WORLD SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2022
Australia (May 25, 2022) – SX Global, the Australian company spearheading the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), today announced four of the 10 exclusive team licenses it will issue for its inaugural global championship. These independent teams were selected for their significant experience at the highest levels of professional supercross and motocross, and their ability to deliver strong competitive offerings across 450 and 250 classes. Manufacturer participation in the series is strong with up to six represented in the FIM World Championship. The four teams include American-based MotoConcepts Honda and Pipes Motorsports Group, along with France’s Bud Racing Kawasaki and GSM Yamaha.
A model unprecedented in supercross yet utilized amongst the majority of thriving sports leagues and motorsports series around the world, WSX features an exclusive team ownership structure that allows each team to increase its value over time, while also enabling a host of commercial opportunities on global and regional levels for international and local events. This unique model, combined with SX Global’s allocation of $50 million specifically for team and rider support over the Championship’s first five years, has driven widespread interest for the coveted 10-team allotment, as evidenced by more than 40 ownership applications submitted from suitors across the globe.
Over the coming weeks, all ten teams will be announced. The first four and team principals are broken down in greater detail below:
- MotoConcepts Honda – Mike Genova: At the helm of the MotoConcepts Honda team is successful businessman, Mike Genova, who runs one of the top teams participating in the AMA Supercross championship in the United States. Regularly performing well in the series, Genova is a mainstay in the supercross world and currently works with talented riders, including Vince Friese and Justin Brayton.
- Pipes Motorsports Group – Dustin Pipes: Led by Dustin Pipes, who brings an extensive background in AMA Supercross and Motocross competition both as an athlete and team manager with Twisted Tea/HEP Motorsports, the Pipes Motorsports Group is supported by the power of Suzuki Motor Company in Japan and the ambition of bringing supercross racing to a truly global stage.
- Bud Racing Kawasaki – Stéphane Dassé: Bud Racing Kawasaki is one of the most faithful team in the GP paddock (since 2007), present in the World class and European Championship, featuring some of the sports hottest up-and-coming riders. As team principal, Dassé has amassed a long list of accolades, playing a key role in developing some of the most successful racers in the game, including Marvin Musquin, Gautier Paulin, and Dylan Ferrandis.
- GSM Yamaha – Serge Guidetty: Supported by Yamaha France, Guidetty’s team is one of two French racing teams participating in the FIM World Supercross Championship. A prominent supercross and motocross rider himself, Guidetty and the GSM Yamaha team are the current French Supercross Champions.
“All four of these teams bring a level of experience, credibility, and operational and competitive excellence, necessary to delivering the highest levels of competition to fans around the world; and we could not be more excited to award them licenses,” said Adam Bailey, managing director – Motorsport of SX Global. “As we embark on our inaugural pilot season, it’s critical that each of our teams bring a spirit of collaboration in the broader effort to drive our sport forward and expand its relevance across the globe, and that’s exactly the case for each of these teams and owners.”
“In order for any sport, or any business to grow successfully, financial structures have to establish wider-ranging revenue potential and overall returns for owners and investors. It’s a model that has proven successful for decades at the highest levels of professional sports, and yet it has not existed in supercross, and we are changing that,” said Tony Cochrane, president of SX Global. “For the first time, supercross team owners have a true investment platform, with the ability to increase the financial value and equity of their teams over time.”
This team announcement is just one of many ongoing development efforts that will continue to elevate and solidify the FIM World Supercross Championship. The Championship will feature a highly exclusive structure, with unparalleled level of financial support for teams, including seed funding for every team awarded a license, appearance fees at every round, and logistics and freight support. In total, more than $50 million has been designated specifically for team and rider support over five years alone. The global series will feature the richest championship prize purses in the sport’s history, with a total of $250,000 up for grabs at each round.
The FIM World Supercross Championship will annually take place in the second half of the year, including up to four events in 2022, from late September through November. 2022 will serve as a “pilot” season, allowing the championship to establish itself and build momentum going into 2023. From 2023, and subsequent years, will see the FIM World Supercross Championship expand annually between June and November, with up to twelve events in 2023.
