La perfezione di Gajser all’MXGP del Trentino
Una giornata perfetta per Tim Gajser del Team HRC, visto che il #243 ha vinto l’MXGP del Trentino con la sua prima prestazione stagionale, estendendo a 33 punti il suo vantaggio in vetta al Campionato Mondiale di Motocross 2022.
Il circuito di Pietramurata è uno dei più belli del calendario, incastonato nella catena montuosa delle Dolomiti, e per la prima volta nella sua storia hanno invertito il tracciato per dare ai corridori una nuova sfida per quella che è la settima gara qui in soli tre anni. Quel cambiamento non sembrava influenzare il duo del Team HRC, dato che sabato, la coppia ha concluso uno-tre, con il compagno di squadra Mitch Evans che ha mostrato il suo miglioramento guidando buona parte di quella gara di qualificazione, dopo un holeshot, prima di finire con il terzo gate pick.
Quella forma è continuata fino al giorno della gara con Gajser che ha superato la prima curva in seconda posizione, con Evans appena dietro al quinto. La coppia ha mantenuto quelle posizioni per la prima metà della gara, con Gajser che ha inseguito il leader e ha cercato qualsiasi apertura, prima di aumentare gradualmente la pressione e fare la sua mossa al 10° giro. Da lì, il #243 ha messo un paio di giri hotspot per liberarsi e controllare la corsa fino alla bandiera a scacchi. Evans, nel frattempo, è stato sottoposto a forti pressioni da questa classe MXGP competitiva ed è arrivato 10°.
In gara due, Gajser era terzo alla prima curva ma a metà del primo giro aveva fatto le mosse necessarie per passare in testa e da quel momento in poi ha abbassato ancora una volta un ritmo che nessuno del gruppo poteva eguagliare per prendere il suo meritato one-one, per la gioia dei migliaia di tifosi sloveni che avevano fatto la trasferta oltre confine. Sfortunatamente, Evans non era partito così bene ed era 13° alla fine del primo giro. Tuttavia, era determinato a entrare ancora una volta nella top 10 e ha raggiunto quell’obiettivo con un posto finale nono, per un eventuale nono assoluto.
La quarta vittoria assoluta di Gajser in cinque round, di cui sei vittorie in gara, porta il pilota della Honda CRF450R a 33 punti di vantaggio, mentre continua la sua stretta mortale sul campionato MXGP. Il prossimo passo per il Team HRC è Kegums, in Lettonia, dove la superficie sabbiosa offre sempre una sfida dura, ma che Gajser ha dominato nel 2016, 2019 e 2021. L’evento di quest’anno si svolgerà dal 23 al 24 aprile, dando a Gajser ed Evans un fine settimana libero per ottenere delle buone sessioni di allenamento poiché sperano di mantenere queste ottime prestazioni per un altro round.

È stato un weekend fantastico. Mi stavo godendo l’intero evento, soprattutto dopo due anni di ‘Arco tranquillo’, quest’anno è stato diverso, è stato bello. Ho fatto due buone partenze, ho guidato bene in entrambe le gare, dopo metà gara li stavo guidando e controllandoli, quindi è stata una bella sensazione. Un grande grazie a tutti i fan che hanno viaggiato qui oggi, sono fantastici. Mi sento davvero bene in questo momento, non vedo l’ora di andare a Kegums, mi piace molto quella pista. Mi allenerò duramente e sarò lì tra due settimane. Non vedo l’ora!

Anche se forse i risultati finali non sono stati buoni come speravo, sono comunque molto positivo su come sono andate le cose questo fine settimana. Ho dimostrato nella gara di qualificazione e nella prima manche di oggi che ho la velocità per correre con i ragazzi in testa, quindi ora devo mettermi in condizione di farlo regolarmente. Devo anche estendere quella velocità per tutti i 35 minuti, ma non credo di essere troppo lontano da questo e sono entusiasta di arrivare in Lettonia dopo un’altra settimana di lavoro. Grazie al team per tutto il loro aiuto e per avermi aiutato a compiere questi passaggi in ogni gara.

Il primo per Tim ed è stata una giornata di gare perfetta per lui, davanti a tanti fan sloveni molto appassionati che hanno fatto il viaggio per vederlo. Si è preso il suo tempo nella prima gara, trovando il posto giusto per passare in testa e controllare la gara, e poi la seconda manche è stata molto a suo agio mentre ha condotto tutti i giri e ha ottenuto una vittoria convincente. Ora guida il campionato di 33 punti e sembra fiducioso ad ogni caduta del cancello.
Anche Mitch ha fatto dei grandi passi in questo fine settimana ed è stato bello vedere entrambi i ragazzi in testa nella gara di qualificazione di sabato. Ha anche mostrato una buona velocità in gara uno e, sebbene non sia ancora pronto per fare l’intera manche, sta facendo il lavoro necessario per farlo nel prossimo futuro.
Un fantastico weekend per il Team HRC e tutti non vedono l’ora di arrivare già in Lettonia!

Gajser perfection at the MXGP of Trentino
A perfect day for Team HRC’s Tim Gajser, as the #243 won the MXGP of Trentino with his first one-one performance of the season, extending his lead at the top of the 2022 World Motocross Championship to 33 points.
The Pietramurata circuit is one of the most beautiful on the calendar, nestled in the Dolomites Mountain range, and for the first time in its history, they reversed the layout to give the riders a new challenge for what is the seventh race here in just three years. That change didn’t seem to affect the Team HRC duo though, as on the Saturday, the pair finished one-three, with teammate Mitch Evans showing his improvement by leading a good portion of that qualification race, after a holeshot, before ending up with third gate-pick.
That form continued onto race-day with Gajser ripping around turn one in second position, with Evans just behind in fifth. The pair maintained those positions for the first half of the race, with Gajser stalking the leader and looking for any opening, before gradually turning up the pressure and making his move on lap 10. From there, the #243 put in a couple of hot laps to break free and control the race until the chequered flag. Evans, meanwhile was under intense pressure from this competitive MXGP class, and ended up 10th.
In race two, Gajser was third around the first bend but midway around the opening lap he had made the necessary moves to get into the lead and from then on, he once again put down a pace than none of the field could match to take his a well-deserved one-one, much to the delight of thousands of Slovenian fans who had made the trip over the border. Unfortunately, Evans hadn’t made such a good start and was down in 13th at the end of lap one. However, he was determined to once again break into the top 10 and achieved that goal with a finishing place of ninth, for an eventual ninth overall.
Gajser’s fourth overall victory in five rounds, including six race wins, moves the Honda CRF450R rider 33 points clear, as his early stranglehold on the MXGP championship continues. Up next for Team HRC is Kegums, Latvia where the sandy surface always provides a stern challenge, but one that Gajser has mastered in 2016, 2019 and 2021. This year’s event takes place on April 23-24, giving Gajser and Evans a weekend off to get in some good training sessions as they hope to keep up these strong performances for another round.

It was a great weekend. I was enjoying the whole event, especially after two years of a ‘quiet Arco’, this year was different, it was nice. I got two good starts, riding was good in both races, after half the race I was leading them and controlling them so it was a good feeling. A big thank you to all the fans who travelled here today, they are amazing. I’m feeling really good at the moment, I’m really looking forward to going to Kegums, I really like that track. I’m just going to train hard and be there in two weeks. Can’t wait!

While perhaps the end results weren’t as good as I hoped, I am still very positive about how things went this weekend. I showed in the qualification race, and in moto one today that I have the speed to run with the guys up the front so now I have to put myself in the position to do that regularly. I also have to extend that speed for the full 35 minutes, but I don’t think I’m too far away from that and I’m excited to get to Latvia after another week of work. Thanks to the team for all their help and for helping me make these steps every race.

The first one-one for Tim and it was a perfect day of racing for him, in front of a lot of very passionate Slovenian fans who made the trip to watch him. He took his time in the first race, finding the right spot to move into the lead and just controlled the race, and then moto two was very comfortable as he led all the laps and took a convincing win. He now leads the championship by 33 points and is looking confident at every gate drop.
Mitch also made some big steps this weekend and it was great to see both guys up front in the qualification race yesterday. He also showed good speed in race one and while he’s not quite ready to do it the whole moto just yet, he is doing the work necessary to do it in the near future.
A great weekend for Team HRC and everyone is looking forward to getting to Latvia already!
